xfonts-encodings override disparity
There are disparities between your recently accepted upload and the override file for the following file(s): xfonts-encodings_1.0.4-1_all.deb: package says section is x11, override says fonts. Please note that a list of new sections were recently added to the archive: cli-mono, database, debug, fonts, gnu-r, gnustep, haskell, httpd, java, kernel, lisp, localization, ocaml, php, ruby, vcs, video, xfce, zope. At this time a script was used to reclassify packages into these sections. If this is the case, please only reply to this email if the new section is inappropriate, otherwise please update your package at the next upload. Either the package or the override file is incorrect. If you think the override is correct and the package wrong please fix the package so that this disparity is fixed in the next upload. If you feel the override is incorrect then please file a bug against ftp.debian.org and explain why. Please INCLUDE the list of packages as seen above, or we won't be able to deal with your request due to missing information. Please make sure that the subject of the bug you file follows the following format: Subject: override: BINARY1:section/priority, [...], BINARYX:section/priority Include the justification for the change in the body of the mail please. [NB: this is an automatically generated mail; if you already filed a bug and have not received a response yet, please ignore this mail. Your bug needs to be processed by a human and will be in due course, but until then the installer will send these automated mails; sorry.] -- Debian distribution maintenance software (This message was generated automatically; if you believe that there is a problem with it please contact the archive administrators by mailing ftpmas...@debian.org) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-x-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#603808: xterm: reverseVideo resource inverts reverse video logic instead of setting the default
Package: xterm Version: 261-1 Severity: normal The reverseVideo X resource and the +rv/-rv command line options affect the reverse video feature in strange ways. It seems to get inverted rather than set, though even that doesn't explain why there is a mark for the menu option if the reverseVideo resource is true and no CLI option is given, but no mark in all other cases. This is what happens: resourceCLI menuresult -- false Markwhite bg, black fg (false) false No mark (default) black bg, white fg (true) false +rv Markwhite bg, black fg (false) false +rv No mark (default) black bg, white fg (true) false -rv Markblack bg, white fg (true) false -rv No mark (default) white bg, black fg (false) trueMark (default) black bg, white fg (true) trueNo mark white bg, black fg (false) true+rv Markwhite bg, black fg (false) true+rv No mark (default) black bg, white fg (true) true-rv Markblack bg, white fg (true) true-rv No mark (default) white bg, black fg (false) This is what I would have expected: resourceCLI menuresult -- false Markblack bg, white fg (true) false No mark (default) white bg, black fg (false) false +rv Markblack bg, white fg (true) false +rv No mark (default) white bg, black fg (false) false -rv Mark (default) black bg, white fg (true) false -rv No mark white bg, black fg (false) trueMark (default) black bg, white fg (true) trueNo mark white bg, black fg (false) true+rv Markblack bg, white fg (true) true+rv No mark (default) white bg, black fg (false) true-rv Mark (default) black bg, white fg (true) true-rv No mark white bg, black fg (false) In words: 1. A mark in the menu should always correspond with reversed video (i.e. black background, white foreground). 2. The reverseVideo resource should set the default value for the menu option. 3. The -rv/+rv CLI options if given should set the default value for the menu option, overriding the reverseVideo resource. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-5-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages xterm depends on: ii libc6 2.11.2-7 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii libfontconfig12.8.0-2.1 generic font configuration library ii libice6 2:1.0.6-1 X11 Inter-Client Exchange library ii libncurses5 5.7+20100313-4 shared libraries for terminal hand ii libutempter0 1.1.5-3A privileged helper for utmp/wtmp ii libx11-6 2:1.3.3-3 X11 client-side library ii libxaw7 2:1.0.7-1 X11 Athena Widget library ii libxft2 2.1.14-2 FreeType-based font drawing librar ii libxmu6 2:1.0.5-2 X11 miscellaneous utility library ii libxt61:1.0.7-1 X11 toolkit intrinsics library ii xbitmaps 1.1.0-1Base X bitmaps Versions of packages xterm recommends: ii x11-utils 7.5+4 X11 utilities Versions of packages xterm suggests: pn xfonts-cyrillic(no description available) -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-x-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". There is now a different upstream fix for this in master (commit 33c08882c0d from Keith Packard) which also works for me. I don't know whether you'd prefer to use that one, or the reversion I suggested. http://git.debian.org/?p=users/smcv/xserver-xorg-video-intel.git (the upstream fix applied as a patch instead) certainly works with my current kernel, which is 2.6.32-27 for amd64. Patch for regression in -video-intel_2.13.901
Hi; With guidance from upstream in #intel-gfx on Freenode, we were able to track down a regression in 2.13.901 which makes it impossible to use GNOME Shell on some Intel hardware. The issue is related to delivery of timer interrupts. Fedora's Adam Jackson tracked it down and disabled page flipping until the problem is resolved: http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=205059 The patch is in this: http://kojipkgs.fedoraproject.org/packages/xorg-x11-drv-intel/2.13.901/2.fc15/src/xorg-x11-drv-intel-2.13.901-2.fc15.src.rpm Jesse Barnes recommended that Debian use the same patch until upstream can track down and fix the problem properly. I have rebuilt the Debian package with the patch and confirmed it does work around the problem.
