Bug#550977: Maybe related

2009-10-17 Thread Andreas Cord-Landwehr

Good Morning,

the Ubuntu guys apparently noticed a similar bug. But I'm not quite sure
if it is actually this bug or only a related one. I also notice crashes
with the 7.6-1 packages if composing is enabled on my KDE 4.3.2 desktop,
as described in Ubuntu Bug #446578:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mesa/+bug/446578
The Ubuntu guys also prepared some patches. It would be great to have
them included in the Debian packages, too.

Greetings,
   Andreas

Unmark some symbols as private

An archive rebuild revealed that the following private Xlib symbols are
being referenced by other packages, so don't mark them as private:
- _XRegisterFilterByMask
- _XRegisterFilterByType
- _XUnregisterFilter
- _XInitKeysymDB
- _Xevent_to_mask

The rebuild was done by Lucas Nussbaum (thanks!) on amd64.

Thanks. I can't seem to build it on stable, though, because xutils-dev
is too old (it says "checking if xorg-macros used to generate
configure is at least 1.2... configure: error: configure built with
too old of a version of xorg-macros.m4 - requires version 1.1.0 or
newer"). Surprisingly, manually disabling that check doesn't help ;)
(I get an error during compilation).

I did, however, build version 6.12.3 (from testing) - I'll report back
when I know whether this one works.

cheers

By default, enable built-in fonts in configure script.

BUILTIN_FONTS, used by dix/dixfonts.c, is now defined by default via
the builtin-fonts variable in the configure scripts. It may be
disabled by using ./configure --disable-builtin-fonts.

This has been done since Xprint support was removed from libXfont 1.4.

If built-in fonts are disabled then PrinterFontRegisterFpeFunctions,
FontFileCheckRegisterFpeFunctions and check_fs_register_fpe_functions
will not be defined in dix/dixfonts.c, when libXfont 1.4 is used (they
were previously defined by libXfont 1.3). Hence, assume built-in fonts
are used by default.
(see also commit 6f47f7c0585c2b621c39cae9eef2a04d7f81bcc0 ).

Built-in fonts now enabled by default in configure script.

So no need to specify them at the ./configure command in debian/rules.
