Bug#531436: Acer 290 suspends but resumes with a black screen

2009-06-01 Thread Jonathan Steel
Package: xserver-xorg-video-intel
Version: 2:2.3.2-2+lenny6

When suspending either via GNOME's power manager or from pm-suspend the
computer successfully suspends. When the computer is resumed the hard
drive light flashes for a moment, the backlight comes on but nothing is
on the screen (it's black). Pressing ctrl, alt and F1/2/3 etc. does
nothing. Even pressing the power button or ctrl, alt and delete does not
shut the laptop down.

Suspend using the vesa driver also gives a black screen but after
pressing ctrl, alt, F1 and then F7, it brings back the display. I've
fiddled with the suspend quirks but I cannot find a combination that
works with the intel driver (only the vesa driver).

The newer driver in unstable works perfectly out of the box (version
2.7). I think from around version 2.6 upwards it works.

I'm using Debian stable.

Thank you.

Bug#531436: More info

2009-06-01 Thread Jonathan Steel
I should have mentioned more about the laptop specification.

It's an Acer TravelMate 290 Celeron M with an Intel 855GM chipset.

Any chance you could use git bisect to track down what changes in the
radeon driver caused the problem? Also, have you made any changes to
your suspend/resume scripts (i.e., added or removed vbetool post
options)? Also is it just suspend to ram or suspend to disk or both?

Alex

Bug#514846: UK AT keyboard does not work on IBM compatible computers

Right, I have now restarted the system. Unfortunately, I am not able to test,
because the system system is now out of ptys, and I am unable to get a terminal
window at this time. (Something odd is going on with Lenny).

Mark.

Bug#531486: regression: xrandr does not rotate correctly

2009-06-01 Thread Borden Rhodes
Package: xorg
Version: 1:7.3+18
Severity: normal

Since upgrading to the latest version of the X server (Intel 852/855 chipset),
whenever I try to launch "xrandr --rotate" on my 1024x768 display, instead of
the rotated display going 1024px down and 768px across (so that it fills my
tablet), it goes 1024px across and 768px down. This means that I lose the
right-hand side of my display and there's a black bar at the bottom of my
rotated screen. I can 'unrotate' it back successfully.

This did work before upgrading X. I suspect that it's a problem with the
Intel driver but I can't prove it.
