I have the same problem. CCSM 0.8.2-1 is completely unusable, presumably for
everyone, because of this bug.

Bug#524872: xserver-xorg-video-intel: similar problem with GM965 chipset

2009-04-26 Thread dignomad
Package: xserver-xorg-video-intel
Version: 2:2.7.0-1
Severity: normal

When I switch to a vt X crashes and restart without writing any info to logs.
Sometimes it just crashes and hangs on a scrambled screen, this random crash
also happens when shutting down the computer.

When this happens the screen may display some scrambled bits of debug info, I
picked up a recurring message:
*** glibc detected *** /usr/bin/X: double free or corruption (out) 0xbecc590 ***

the 0x address being different each time.

This is a known issue in the X server. Please don’t hesitate to comment
in the upstream report, it might help the developers find out what’s
wrong.

If you get a chance, can you try any versions between 6.9.0 and 6.12.x
or do a git bisect between 6.9.0 and some some broken release? Also,
did you do anything else like upgrade the amount of ram in the system?
