Package: xserver-xorg-video-ati
Version: 1:6.9.0-1
Severity: important

The new ati driver gives me flickers (horizontal bands of the screen, approx
50px high, temporarily displayed in the wrong vertical location) as well as
blackouts (display goes completely black for 2-3 seconds, dropped sync?).

The problems are related to display activity. Moving windows causes blackout
very quickly (under a second), while if sitting idle the screen stays alive for
10-30 seconds.

Reverting back to 1:6.8.0-1 makes these problems go away.

Text mode does not have any problems.

My video card is an ATI R430 (Radeon X800 XL PCIe).
My display is a DELL 2000FP and it is connected via DVI-D.

Ok, let's close for now then.
If anybody ever reproduces, feel free to reopen.

Unfortunately, I too am unable to repeat this bug. My Dell screen broke and the
new one (BenQ G2400W) doesn't show the problem.

Bug#505033: x11-xkb-utils: (EE) XKB: Couldn't compile keymap

Mmmmh, all the reported issues seem to have mysteriously vanished on
the next day (Sunday).
Now everything seems to work...:-) but also :-|

The only changes on the system (apart from a reboot) are the following
upgraded packages:

  [UPGRADE] eog 2.22.3-1 -> 2.22.3-2
  [UPGRADE] libvte-common 1:0.16.14-3 -> 1:0.16.14-4
  [UPGRADE] libvte9 1:0.16.14-3 -> 1:0.16.14-4

I doubt they have much to do with Xorg keyboard handling...

I am lowering the severity of this bug report, since the issues only
showed up once and then seem to have vanished (without an apparent
reason).
If I no longer encounter any problems in a while, I will close the bug
report.
