Hello,

using fglrx driver for X and trying to launch compiz fails with message:
"No whitelisted driver found".

If there's no special reason for it, this could be fixed by just adding
it to the WHITELIST in /usr/bin/compiz. See the attached patch.

Thanks,
Georg

That's harmless.

The Mesa intel drivers now default to syncing to vblank. You can
override this using the driconf option vblank_mode if you really need
glxgears to render more frames than you can see...

I think you'd just need to remove xserver-xorg-{input,video}-all
packages and instead make sure the specific input and video driver
packages you need are installed.

The problem seems to lay there.

Quick check yesterday: X keeps running, but the screen switchs to black.
(the same black as if starting without VGA cable connected.)
Switching back to 59.9 was not possible for me, but i had only 5 minutes to
try this. What is the Correct command for this. (run on ttyN)

I _think_ i have seen the monitor running a useable X with 60, but im
really not shure about this, i've seen too many different outputs of
xrandr during my tests before writing this bugreport.

Bye
  Felix

Before I push this bug report to upstream, could you try building the
latest upstream git ? If you need help, please let me know.

Do you have a good reason to think that the bug is in xtrap/xcb and not
in your code? xcb brings more assertions so it catches more bugs in the
caller, so it's not clear where the bug comes from.

More important, as you will see in [1,2], xtrap is being removed
upstream, so you might want to rethink your application anyway.

With this patch, all my video players (totem, vlc, mplayer, xine) stopped
working with error messages like that:

The error was 'BadAlloc' (insufficient resources for operation)

I found some reports on Fedora and Ubuntu with similiar problems. Switching
manually back to EXA fixed the problem. BTW, I never had problems with font
rendering.

Yeah, we are aware of the problem, XAA and XV are not always friends. We
are thinking of replacing the above "force XAA" patch into "Force
EXANoComposite" on i965.

Let's say you're lucky :) We don't know what's causing this font
rendering problem, but many people were affected on various i965 board
models.

Bug#496690: xdm: want to use Tab to switch from Login to Password field

2008-09-01 Thread Phil Endecott
I have also configured Tab to have the finish-field behaviour. A
mis-feature of this configuration, however, is that pressing tab while
in the Password field will not swap back to the username field, but
will instead try to logon. So if the goal is consistency with other
logon screens or other GUI apps, it is only partially successful. I'm
not aware of any way to fix this.

Phil.

Bug#496922: xserver-xorg-video-openchrome: mouse cursor disappeared after upgrade

It doesn't for everyone, nor the majority; so it is important, but
should not prevent the package from being shipped in lenny.

Could you please re-read what I wrote? I want you to provide the
Xorg.log.0 generated right after you try to use openchrome and before
you restart xorg with any other driver.

Btw, can you see the id of your card in
/usr/share/doc/xserver-xorg-video-openchrome/changelog.Debian.gz?

And have you read openchrome(4)? If you find a workaround there please
report back.

Bug#496979: Bug #496979: same problem of flickering with a Radeon 7500

2008-09-01 Thread Géraud Meyer
I have the exact same problem of flickering as described in bug #496979,
with a Radeon 7500 and XVideo.
Problem also solved by using the xshm driver in xine, or the x11 driver
in mplayer.

Bug#496935: libxtrap6: xtrap fails libxcb assertion

2008-09-01 Thread Li-Thiao-Té Sébastien

Brice Goglin wrote:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

Package: libxtrap6
Version: 2:1.0.0-5
Severity: important

Some programmes that I have developped around the Xtrap extension abort
when installing libxcb. This is due to xtrap failing the following xcb
assertion.

Note that libxcb is necessary for Iceweasel 3 through Cairo. (ouch)

$ xtrapstats
Display: :0.0
Stats Command (Zero, Quit, [Show])? Show
xtrapstats: ../../src/xcb_lock.c:77: _XGetXCBBuffer: Assertion `((int)
((xcb_req) - (dpy->request)) >= 0)' failed.
Aborted

Do you have a good reason to think that the bug is in xtrap/xcb and not
in your code? xcb brings more assertions so it catches more bugs in the
caller, so it's not clear where the bug comes from.

Yes. xtrapstats belongs to the Xtrap sample clients bundled in the
Debian package. Otherwise, my "code" is just sending strings to xtrapin
through the shell.

More important, as you will see in [1,2], xtrap is being removed
upstream, so you might want to rethink your application anyway.

I find this unfortunate, as I began using Xtrap a few months ago
unknowingly. I chose Xtrap over Xtest because the later seemed far less
documented and harder to use.

I guess I will just freeze my system in the mean time.
