Changes since xserver-xorg-video-radeonhd-0.0.4-git20071124-1: Egbert Eich (12): Add a sanity check. Add debug output. Add debug output. Handle MCRead/Write differently. Add support for reprogramming of FB_LOCATION for R5xx and RV515. Adding rhd_mc.h to Makefile.am. Add MC handling to RandR. Fix wrong shift value which places top limit at the wrong place. Add an address probe function. Set color value for black for screen blanking. Split RHDModeInit() to separate funcs that don't need to be called on SwitchMode(). Provide a stub for I2CStop to prevent xf86I2CProbeAddress() from segfaulting. Hans Ulrich Niedermann (4): Add authors to man page. Add stubs documenting xorg.conf options Print warning if rhd_conntest is not built. Handle non-branch case of git workdir Julien Cristau (4): Merge tag '1.0.0' into debian-unstable Update changelogs for 1.0.0. * Refresh patch 01_gen_pci_ids.diff. * Upload to unstable (closes: #453524). Luc Verhaegen (7): CRTCs: implement a Blank hook. TMDSA/B: Add macro control values for 724B. TMDSA/B: Fix some more macro control values. TMDSA: add macro control for 0x7142. Fix some messages: like number of scanlines available. Broken connector table: GeCube Radeon HD 2400 AGP. Connector Table: FSC Amilo PI1536 has no HPD on DVI. Matthias Hopf (16): Add quirks for broken Mode names and uninitialized HSync & VRefresh. Added quirk for xf86RandRModeConvert not initializing Mode with 0 Improve naming scheme for RandR connectors. Move VGADisable() and MCSetup() to ModeInit(). Initialize rhdPtr->randr before calling xf86InitialConfiguration(). Reworked output detection. Using HPD and Sense now. Assume that a panel is always connected. Handle preferred modes correctly. Blank/unblank in SaveScreen no matter whether Crtc is active or not. Call xf86RandR12PreInit. Print RR output names after consolidateRandrOutputNames(). Fix test for other RRoutputs using same Output on disabling it. Print Crtc offsets in debug message as well. Add IgnoreHPD option. Bug#453839: xserver-xorg-video-ati: LCD backlight control regressions on RS482 (Radeon Xpress 200M)
Package: xserver-xorg-video-ati Version: 1:6.7.196-1 Severity: normal Upgrading from 1:6.7.195-2 to 1:6.7.196-1 caused some things that worked just fine to fail on HP Compaq nx6325 notebook with the infamous RS482 (Radeon Xpress 200M) video card. 1. LCD brightness control buttons no longer work. (Un)plugging power cord also no longer changes the brightness. I can change it if I switch to console, but on switching back to X it is restored to what it was. 2. Putting display into power saving mode correctly switches the backlight off, but after some time it sometimes turns back on, and does not turn off until display is put into power saving mode again. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (990, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.24-rc3.666.0 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=lt_LT.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=lt_LT.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages xserver-xorg-video-ati depends on: ii libc6 2.7-3 GNU C Library: Shared libs ii xserver-xorg-core 2:1.4.1~git20071119-1 Xorg X server - core server xserver-xorg-video-ati recommends no packages. -- no debconf information Section "Module" Load"dri" Load"glx" EndSection Section "InputDevice" Identifier "Generic Keyboard" Driver "kbd" Option "CoreKeyboard" Option "XkbRules" "xorg" Option "XkbModel" "pc104" Option "XkbLayout" "us" EndSection Section "InputDevice" Identifier "Configured Mouse" Driver "mouse" Option "CorePointer" Option "Device""/dev/input/mice" Option "Protocol" "ImPS/2" Option "Emulate3Buttons" "true" EndSection Section "InputDevice" Identifier "Synaptics Touchpad" Driver "synaptics" Option "SendCoreEvents""true" Option "Device""/dev/input/mice" Option "Protocol" "auto-dev" Option "HorizScrollDelta" "0" EndSection Section "Device" Identifier "ATI Radeon Xpress 200M" Driver "radeon" BusID "PCI:1:5:0" Option "DRI" "true" EndSection Section "Monitor" Identifier "Laptop LCD" Option "DPMS" DisplaySize 305 228 EndSection Section "Screen" Identifier "Screen for Laptop LCD" Device "ATI Radeon Xpress 200M" Monitor "Laptop LCD" DefaultDepth24 SubSection "Display" Depth 16 Modes "1400x1050" "1280x960" "1152x864" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480" EndSubSection SubSection "Display" Depth 24 Modes "1400x1050" "1280x960" "1152x864" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480" EndSubSection EndSection Section "ServerLayout" Identifier "Default Layout" Screen "Screen for Laptop LCD" InputDevice "Generic Keyboard" InputDevice "Configured Mouse" InputDevice "Synaptics Touchpad" EndSection signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature

And finally I found the problem. First, it is not a bug of xterm than more of pbuilder or even the kernel. The problem appears if using pbuilder with the option (default) USEDEVPTS=yes. The reason is that pbuilder do NOT specify the group of the filesystem and so it defaults to 5(tty). Well, this is the source of the problem. But the real problem is that the kernel only provides ONE shared devpts! So after using pbuilder every time the devpts is using the default group. So, many thanks for the fast reaction. The bug is completely closed (It was even not a bug (this time) of xterm.) But FWIW, load detection of the TV output is disabled by default (it creates some problems in some cases). That's probably why xrandr says S-video is disconnected. To reenable TV load detection (and maybe get xrandr to report S-video as connected), try: xrandr --output S-video --set load_detection 1 Brice

Did you actually check that suspend to ram *never* works with the NV driver? on all supported hardware? There are many things involved in suspend to ram, including the kernel, the X server and the driver. What problem are you experiencing? This bug report is pretty useless without any detail about the problem. Bug#342817: 342817: nvidia hangs system continues
found 342817 1:2.1.3-1 retitle 342817 nv open source driver hangs system with GeForce 6600 PCIe thanks I thought I'd give this another try, since the proprietary drivers (as packaged for Debian) are unavailable for the 2.6.22 kernels. As before, it hangs the system so badly that only a manual power off fixes things. For me, this bug is very severe: it hangs the entire system, and exposes me to security risks because I must stay with an older kernel.
