Bug#364711: x-window-system-core: broken dependencies?
package: x-window-system-core version: 6.9.0.dfsg.1-6 severity: wishlist Hello! I am wondering about the dependencies of the 'x-window-system-core' meta-package. Among others, it depends on the following packages: xlibmesa-dri, xlibmesa-gl | libgl1-mesa-dri, libglu1-xorg | libglu1-mesa This means that you have the choice to install the OpenGL graphics library and the OpenGL utility library from either the X.Org release or from the MESA release. Fine! But when it comes to the DRI modules, the meta-package depends on 'xlibmesa-dri'. This means that whenever I install the 'libgl1-mesa-dri' package as an alternative to 'xlibmesa-gl', I consequently have to remove the 'x-window-system-core' meta-package along with the 'xlibmesa-dri' package. But I would like to keep the meta-package. This is somehow annoying, since the 3 graphics adapters I use (ATI Radeon 9500 [R300 based], SIS 630 [embedded, Notebook] and SIS 661) only work in accelerated mode when using MESA's 'libgl1-mesa-dri' package. So this is more than an alternative for me but the only working solution ;) Please change the dependency on the dri modules to the following: xlibmesa-dri | libgl1-mesa-dri Thank you very much! I am trying to catch up the current stream of changes, but the current structure of SVN puzzles me. A lot. Which is the intended structure? xf86-video-CHIP-VERSION? xserver-xorg-video-CHIP? I am seeing this message along with another putting i810 driver as xserver-xorg-video-i810. I do not know how in the world I could add wacom drivers to the current tree (under which name, I mean). First launch a terminal and a browser in the same desktop. Then use xwininfo in order to obtain the ID of the browser. Then launch xev -id WINDOW_ID in the terminal and feel free to surf. As you will see, xev intercepts *every* event belonging to the window (key presses, mouse movements, etc.). When it happens, you can tell us if you start to lack output in the xev terminal. If so, I would guess for a kernel problem. If not...well, we could try another thing. :-) Does it seem feasible to you? Re: Bug#357439: amaya does not start--The program 'amaya' received an X Window System error.
Ok, si this bug is now starting to turn me crazy. All running tests point to a problem with Mesa : -crash with Mesa in software mode -no crash with Mesa using the ATI DRI, but weird display of the web pages -no crash with the nvidia proprietary driver, display is happy. When I tried using gdb to get a backtrace(attached), all I got was a long list of calls involving wxWidgets, GTK, but not Mesa. CCing the XSF in case someone has an idea, or if this could be related to the Mesa/Xorg drivers problem, otherwise my next try will probably involve the sacrifice of a chicken. Bug#364711: marked as done (x-window-system-core: broken dependencies?)
Your message dated Tue, 25 Apr 2006 20:23:50 -0400 with message-id <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> and subject line Bug#364711: x-window-system-core: broken dependencies? has caused the attached Bug report to be marked as done. This means that you claim that the problem has been dealt with. If this is not the case it is now your responsibility to reopen the Bug report if necessary, and/or fix the problem forthwith. (NB: If you are a system administrator and have no idea what I am talking about this indicates a serious mail system misconfiguration somewhere. Please contact me immediately.) Debian bug tracking system administrator (administrator, Debian Bugs database) --- Begin Message --- package: x-window-system-core version: 6.9.0.dfsg.1-6 severity: wishlist Hello! We've fixed it with what's currently in unstable, so I'm closing this bug. In the new packages, there are no xlibmesa packages (except as transitional packages), and the only source of mesa libraries comes from the mesa source package. The new packages depend on those actual libraries. Thanks for your report! - David Nusinow --- End Message ---

Use the source package name, so xserver-xorg-input-wacom would be correct. This is supposed to be svn best practices that I wasn't aware of before, and it lets you just copy the old version on the the new one, thereby tracking all changes. Note that every driver from X.org will be getting an update anyway during 7.1 due to the ABI bump in the server, so I'll fix these directory names then. - David Nusinow -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#363995: xserver-xorg-video-ati: OpenGL view out of alignment with window
found 363995 1:6.5.7.3-3 thanks Robert Hart wrote: > Since upgrading to 7.0 I've noticed a problem with the contents of any > GL viewport shifting roughly half the viewport width to the left. This > seems to occur when some other window partially overlaps and obscurs > the GL window. > > For example, starting glxgears, produces the familiar rotating cogs, > however if the mouse is hovered over one of the title bars windows > until a tooltip appears, the gears suddenly shift to the left, such > that only the green gear is visible. I can reproduce this in 1:6.5.7.3-3, and I have restarted the server several times since upgrading. xorg.conf and Xorg.0.log attached. Note that the horizontal shift seems to move the gears to a fixed location, not a fixed offset from the window. They always end up partly over the left edge of the screen. Thus, with the window further to the right, less of them shows, and still further to the right none of them show. - Josh Triplett # /etc/X11/xorg.conf (xorg X Window System server configuration file) # # This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using # values from the debconf database. # # Edit this file with caution, and see the /etc/X11/xorg.conf manual page. # (Type "man /etc/X11/xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.) # # This file is automatically updated on xserver-xorg package upgrades *only* # if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg # package. # # If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated # again, run the following command: # sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg Section "Files" FontPath"/usr/share/fonts/X11/misc" FontPath"/usr/share/fonts/X11/cyrillic" FontPath"/usr/share/fonts/X11/100dpi/:unscaled" FontPath"/usr/share/fonts/X11/75dpi/:unscaled" FontPath"/usr/share/fonts/X11/Type1" FontPath"/usr/share/fonts/X11/100dpi" FontPath"/usr/share/fonts/X11/75dpi" # path to defoma fonts FontPath"/var/lib/defoma/x-ttcidfont-conf.d/dirs/TrueType" EndSection Section "Module" Load"bitmap" Load"dbe" Load"ddc" Load"dri" Load"extmod" Load"freetype" Load"glx" Load"int10" Load"record" Load"type1" Load"vbe" EndSection Section "InputDevice" Identifier "Generic Keyboard" Driver "kbd" Option "CoreKeyboard" Option "XkbRules" "xorg" Option "XkbModel" "pc104" Option "XkbLayout" "us" EndSection Section "InputDevice" Identifier "Configured Mouse" Driver "mouse" Option "CorePointer" Option "Device""/dev/input/mice" Option "Protocol" "ImPS/2" EndSection #Section "InputDevice" # Identifier "Synaptics Touchpad" # Driver "synaptics" # Option "SendCoreEvents""true" # Option "Device""/dev/psaux" # Option "Protocol" "auto-dev" # Option "HorizScrollDelta" "0" #EndSection Section "Device" Identifier "ATI Technologies, Inc. Bug#364838: xkb-data: systematically kills GNOME session during login

You need to be specific. How does it 'kill' GNOME? Can you attach your xorg.conf? Can you also attach your Xorg.0.log from a crashing session? If GNOME gives you the dialog where it asks you to attach the output from two commands if reporting a bug, can you attach the output from those two commands?
Bug#362122: marked as done (xbase-clients: package does not contain directories within which it contains files)
Your message dated Tue, 25 Apr 2006 22:47:12 -0700 with message-id <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> and subject line Bug#357713: fixed in xorg-server 1:1.0.2-7 has caused the attached Bug report to be marked as done. Please contact me immediately.) Debian bug tracking system administrator (administrator, Debian Bugs database) --- Begin Message --- Package: xbase-clients Version: 1:7.0.0-2 Severity: important Hello, The package file of xbase-clients does not seem to follow consistently the usual convention of Debian packages, whereby any directory that the packages has files in is also contained in the package. In particular, the following directories seem to be missing: /usr/include/X11 /usr/include/X11/bitmaps /usr/lib/X11 /etc/X11/xinit /etc/X11/Xresources Especially the absence of /usr/lib/X11 is causing a lot of trouble, because in previous versions of X it also exists as a symlink, pointing to /usr/X11R6/lib/X11. As a result, when the new version of xbase-clients is unpacked, the files that are meant for /usr/lib/X11 get unpacked in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11 instead! A couple of symptoms caused by this have already been reported in bugs #357713 and #361516. Hopefully, this shouldn't be too complicated to fix.
