Yes, this is deliberate, and packages which use it have to rebuild.

Does a diff between the log files from 6.9 and 7.0 show anything
interesting?

dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg counts as a deliberate action in my book.
If you are overwriting an existing config file, it a) tells you so, b)
backs it up, and c) tells it where.

Me too, including the one for my laptop that deals with multiple screens
if you ask it to. I wrote all that code and tested it on my live
configuration. Those same configurations are still there today.

You are seriously suggesting that they should be removed as they serve

I tried this on two boxes with Xorg 7.0: both expose the same behaviour:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ xterm
X Error of failed request: BadRequest (invalid request code or no such
operation)
Major opcode of failed request: 152 (XFIXES)
Minor opcode of failed request: 23 (XFixesSetCursorName)
Serial number of failed request: 30
Current serial number in output stream: 31

Same for rxvt:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ rxvt
X Error of failed request: BadRequest (invalid request code or no such
operation)
Major opcode of failed request: 152 (XFIXES)
Minor opcode of failed request: 23 (XFixesSetCursorName)
Serial number of failed request: 86
Current serial number in output stream: 87

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ amule
The program 'amule' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadRequest (invalid request code or no such operation)'.
  (Details: serial 85 error_code 1 request_code 152 minor_code 23)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

So, this rather seems to be an error in the Xserver. This did NOT happen
with an older Xorg 7.0 package I recently installed from
experimental

Package: xcursor-themes
Version: 1.0.1-2
Severity: normal

Hi,

In 6.9 I used cursors from gtk2-engines-industrial (automagically).
After switching to Xorg 7.0 from experimental this stopped working and
I selected the cursor theme with one of [1]

ln -s /usr/share/icons/whiteglass /usr/share/icons/default
ln -s /usr/share/icons/whiteglass ~/.icons/default

This worked with Xorg 7.0 from experimental but many programs break
with Xorg 7.0 from unstable, xterm gives informative message:

$ xterm
X Error of failed request: BadRequest (invalid request code or no such
operation)
Major opcode of failed request: 152 (XFIXES)
Minor opcode of failed request: 23 (XFixesSetCursorName)
Serial number of failed request: 27
Current serial number in output stream: 28

Emacs and Gtk2 programs most notably GDM fail to start with a more
cryptic messages.

The problem disappears after removing the `default' link, but the
curious thing is that it have worked before Xorg from experimental.

I just used aptitude to upgrade my debian/unstable box (the previous
full update was on 2006-03-19), most notably this upgraded the X system
to 7.0.10. And since then, many X programs are either crashing (mostly
before even displaying anything), or reporting the same error code while
functionning otherwise unaffected.

for instance : gqview, firefox, thunderbird, emacs... all crash on
launch and report :
(emacs :)
X protocol error: BadRequest (invalid request code or no such operation)
on protocol request 151

(firefox/thunderbird :)
The error was 'BadRequest (invalid request code or no such operation)'.
 (Details: serial 418 error_code 1 request_code 151 minor_code 23)

gimp starts OK, but crashes when opening any kind of menu.

While knode (and all kde/qt programs I tried so far) run without
problem, though reporting the same errors a few times on startup :
X Error: BadRequest (invalid request code or no such operation) 1
 Major opcode: 151
 Minor opcode: 23

After upgrading to X.org 7, I can no longer launch most X11

etc.

$ xterm
X Error of failed request: BadRequest (invalid request code or no such

xmms gives a different error message from the GDK, but
implicating the same major/minor.

If you'll remember, I did this a long time ago for Ubuntu[0], as far as

I'm not entirely aware of one, however core fonts aren't the biggest use
case nowadays, so it's not as high-impact as it would've been a few
years ago.

Bug#362299: xbase-clients: [xrdb] (apparently) changed cpp invocation switches

2006-04-13 Thread giacomo boffi
Package: xbase-clients
Version: 1:7.0.0-2

---
SUMMARY:
characters in a .Xdefaults file, when processed by cpp, ARE NOT
SYNTACTIC TOKENS, hence the NEED for the -traditional switch
---

i have cpp's macros in my .Xdefaults file, lots of those macros are now
broken, as cpp is no more invoked with the -traditional switch

in particular, concatenation breaks horribly when one try to build XLFD
font descriptions, as the "-" characters are no more mere characters,
but were implicitly promoted to the status of syntactic tokens, so that
it's very difficult, at least to me, to get proper concatenation as in
the following example

% cpp
#define bbb aaa ## 12
#define ccc aaa ## -12
bbb
ccc
# 1 ""
# 1 ""
# 1 ""
# 1 ""

aaa12

Sorry, I just filed another bug (no. 362296) against x-ttcidfont-conf which
seems to be the interfering part.

Maybe this bug should be merged with bug no. 362296.

I apoligize any inconvenience that may have been caused by me.

  Hello,

I just wanted to point out here, that just because the problem *went
away* for the submitter does not necessarily mean that the bug was
*fixed*.

Here's my take on this: the reported behaviour was probably caused
by bug #362122 (which I reported yesterday). That is, when the
submitter first upgraded to the new modular packages, xbase-clients
unpacked things meant for /usr/lib/X11 over the existing symlink to
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11. Amongst those was the symlink xinit, pointing to
/etc/X11/xinit. Therefore startx could not find
/usr/lib/X11/xinit/xinitrc anymore, so it passed an empty client
argument to xinit, which then fell back to executing "xterm -geometry
+1+1 -n login -display :0", which was what the submitter was seeing on
his screen.

Fast forward to yesterday. The submitter upgraded to the packages in
unstable, which included a version bump of xbase-clients, so it got
upgraded. This time, /usr/lib/X11 already existed as a directory
(because of xutils, for example), so everything got unpacked in the
correct position, and things started working again. So for example, if
I am correct, there should be two xinit links in both /usr/lib/X11 and
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11.

So, did the problem go away? Sure did. Did it got fixed? Probably
not. I'm actually reopening the bug and merging it with the other bug
reports that I've identified as relevant; please yell at me if that's
inappropriate.

Thanks,
Vasilis

Bug#362312: junk left in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts after upgrade

2006-04-13 Thread Joey Hess
Package: xfonts-utils
Version: 1:1.0.0-3
Severity: normal

With the fonts dirs moving, a system that is upgraded from an old
version of X will have /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts directories left hanging
around with fonts.dir, fonts.cache-1, fonts.alias, and encodings.dir
left in them. Since these old directories are presumably not used, I
think that this package (or some package) should delete that cruft from
them and rmdir -p --ignore-fail-no-non-empty the directories.

(Also, does anything take care of removing these same files from the new
location if all of X is purged off a system? Something should.)

Re: font directories?

2006-04-13 Thread Joey Hess
I've done a minor mass-bug filing (85 bugs) on packages that still use
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts. I hope that I captured everything that needs to be
done to transition:

 * Modify rules or Makefile to install the fonts to the new directory.
 * Build-depend on debhelper version 5.0.29, which supports the new font
   location.
 * Make sure that the package depends on the new xfonts-utils package.
(dh_installxfonts will automatically add this to misc:Depends)

AFAICS anyone trying to do a partial upgrade involving X fonts will probably
just be screwed. :-/

Comment out or fix the RgbPath entry in xorg.conf and restart X.

(grep RgbPath /var/log/Xorg.0.log)

i looked in the xorg.conf, and there is no RgbPath, so it will use
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/rgb

but i dont have this one:

ive only /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/rgb.txt and this is empty...

Bug#362411: /etc/X11/X pointing to /bin/true after upgrade

2006-04-13 Thread Torsten Landschoff
Package: xserver-xorg-video-ati
Version: 1:6.5.7.3-3
Severity: normal

Hey there!

First of all, thanks for the Xorg packages, incredible they are working
as good, I am writing this from an upgraded unstable system.

However I ran into a number of problems during upgrade. One of them was
that /etc/X11/X pointed to /bin/true after running just

apt-get install xserver-xorg-video-ati

as I did not want to install all drivers... The other problems are
already reported, namely xkb-data not being installed with the server.
The third thing was that kdm did not find the X server anymore as it
had the full path /usr/X11R6/bin/X for the binary in the default
configuration.

Greetings

Torsten

Hi Bill,
That graph is basically unreadable for me, I'm afraid.

The dependency chain, as I envision it, looks something like
  /--- xserver-xorg --\
 / | \
xserver-xorg-core xserver-xorg-input-all xserver-xorg-video-all
 ||
 all input driversall video drivers

So, xserver-xorg Depends: xserver-xorg-core, xserver-xorg-input-all,
xserver-xorg-video-all.
xserver-xorg-input-all depends xserver-xorg-input-*.
xserver-xorg-video-all depends xserver-xorg-video-*.

xserver-xorg-core probably also Depends xserver-xorg, but that's a
circular dependency involving exactly two packages.

Cheers,
Daniel

The fix is to come up with a coherent set of servers that S/390 should
build. I'd say that this would be Xephyr, Xnest, Xvfb, and Xorg with
the dummy driver.

You can NMU if you want, but NMUing for a non-release-candidate
architecture with a fix you have already been told is incorrect is
extremely hostile, and I'm sure the other teams will consider it as
such. But hey, we have equal rights to the upload queue, so I can't
stop you.

That would be the problem then. I think it's supposed to be a symlink

Bug#362105: I did install xkb-data

2006-04-13 Thread Petter Sundlöf

Hello. On unstable.

I did install xkb-data, but I am still unable to use strg-alt-fX, and
the special swedish characters do not work -- I can't input them.

I get this error message from GNOME:

Error activating XKB configuration.
It can happen under various circumstances:
- a bug in libxklavier library
- a bug in X server (xkbcomp, xmodmap utilities)
- X server with incompatible libxkbfile implementation

X server version data:
The X.Org Foundation
7000

If you report this situation as a bug, please include:
- The result of xprop -root | grep XKB
- The result of gconftool-2 -R /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/kbd

The X server doesn't start complaining about bitmap and pcidata modules,
despite none of these lines being present in the list of modules to

Any idea ?

Bug#362434: xserver-xorg-video-nv: nv has problems with xcursor-themes

2006-04-13 Thread Carsten Luedtke
Package: xserver-xorg-video-nv
Version: 1:1.0.1.5-2
Severity: important

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

I tried nv after the upgrade to Xorg7.0 and had problems with my old
gnome-session
(which was unusable in Xorg7.0), I made a new one which worked. After some
configuration i came to change the cursor-theme to whiteglass - which then lead
to
a restarting metacity every time i tried to start another app. There were also
issues
with the cursor itself, it had black glitches on the left. I tried also
redglass and
handheld, all with the same problems. Other themes like Industrial (came with
gnome)
have the same problems. The only one which worked was the black core theme.

Now I have nvidia again, and this doesn't suffer from these problems as it
looks like.

These modules are required and thus loaded automatically by the X
server.

Most likely, you have a superfluous ModulePath line
in /etc/X11/xorg.conf. If not, please post that file as well
as /var/log/Xorg.0.log.

joboffer/request for packaging of current X.org

2006-04-13 Thread tpo2
Hello list,

for an ongoing project we are in need of a packaged X.org server for the current
Debian stable distro.

We specifically need the feature of the current i810 driver contained in the
X.org CVS server as committed by Alan Hourihane on 2005-01-24 [1]. These changes
have been imported into the Debian X.org tree by D.Nusinow in March [2]. Some of
the more recent fixes in the i810 driver have not yet made it to Debian's trunk
yet.

We are looking for someone to package the current X.org/Debian server for
stable. Is that a realistic idea? Is there anybody out here who'd be willing to
do the work?

* ideally the changes would be fed back to the main Debian trunk: will the
current X maintainers accept these if done properly?
* the job is paid
* it can be done off-site, however testing on real hardware will need to be
  coordinated with us
* the job needs to be done and terminated within max. 2 months
* any other specifics, and a more detailled requirements list will need to be
  arranged with us

Thanks,
*t

Hi Andreas.

I'm using two 19" lcd monitors on a Radeon 9700Pro. When this started
happening I used one monitor with DVI cable, the other with normal VGA
cable. Then for a short while I used VGA cable on both monitors. That
were when the fix came out. With both monitors connected with VGA
cables, it worked just fine.

When I later used on vga and one dvi cable, I went back to one black
monitor. Thing is, I had discovered mergedfb by this time, and haven't
yet bothered to re-file a bug, since it works. My existing xorg.conf is
attached.

Sorry for my false statement claiming it's all good now...

Hope this helps.

Best regards,
Stian

Bug#362434: xserver-xorg-video-nv: nv has problems with xcursor-themes

Yes for the most part (the metacity crashes). But the glitches are still
there after the update of libxfixes3. I suggest to let this bug open for
nv.

The problem with the glitches comes through the transparency of
whiteglass/redglass as it looks to me. I disabled HWCursor in xorg.conf
(nv defaults to "HWCursor" "true") and the glitches were gone. Maybe the
default should be altered (at least for some adapters) until a better
fix is available. I have the following in my system:

Package: xbase-clients

After upgrading to Xorg 7, X11 forwarding doesn't work.
It's enabled on both server and client, but the other end gives this error:

I tried both ssh -Y and -X, to no avail.

Bug#362226: please use versiond dependencies to avoid this

2006-04-13 Thread Joachim Breitner
Hi,

Maybe I should re-open
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=362226

If the package needs a specific version of another package, versioned
depends should be used. (e.g. a driver of mine conflicts with
xserver-xorg <<7.0, so in my case apt-get upgrade installed xbase-client
without the rest of xorg 7)

Thanks,
Joachim

I'll test to remove the superfluous lines from the modulepath

No.

If you want to be specific, then you could explain how it's going wrong,
show the output of discover1, the output of lspci, and include a diff
against pci.lst from discover1-data if you're keen.

This bug report is thoroughly useless without any information.

Bug#354674: What on earth?

2006-04-13 Thread Adam C Powell IV
Greetings,

Please tell me if I have this right:
  * You don't like .la files
  * So you're unilaterally removing them from a core package
(libxcursor) with dozens of reverse-depends, breaking all of
them
  * Even though they're a years-old and very well established
technology
  * Which upstream libtool has not yet decided to eliminate ("It's
already under discussion")
  * And which has not been discussed on debian-devel or any other
Debian list as far as I can tell (Google search).

Can you really be serious?

For example, if the maintainer of GLib decides (s)he doesn't like the
way it handles modules, and upstream *might* at some point change the
behavior, is that alone enough justification to change it and break all
of its dozens of reverse-depending packages?

Okay, my mistake, the removal of .la files throughout X packages
indicates that this was an X-wide decision, not an isolated developer.
But I still don't see any discussion on Debian lists outside of this one
bug.

"I guess that's why they call it unstable..."

Unfortunately I can't schedule the binNMUs, as I'm not a DD yet, so I
CCed Steve, maybe he can look into this.
Besides, it's not so simple.
The problem is, that these -dev packages (especially the Gnome ones)
build on top of each other so they have to be built in the correct order.
Looking at the build deps I tried to determine the correct order, in
which they have to be built (packages in one line can be scheduled at
the same time). Al listed -dev package reference either libXcursor.la or
libXrender.la in one of their *.la files. I tried to schedule them ASAP:

libqt4-dev (no binNMU: remove from build-dep: xlibs-static-dev,
libqt4-dev: xlibs-static-pic, package maintainer informed, fixed package
on its way)
  |
libavahi-qt3-dev
  |
kdelibs4-dev (have to verify that it builds without modifications, takes
some time to build...)
  |
kdebase-dev

libcairo2-dev
  |
libpango1.0-dev
  |
libgtk2.0-dev (Remove "xlibs-static-pic | xlibs-pic (>=4.2.1-6)" from
build-dep, no binNMU), lesstif2-dev
  |
libnotify-dev/libwnck-dev/libgnomecanvas2-dev/libgtkglext1-dev
  |
libbonoboui2-dev/libgail-dev
  |
libgnomeui-dev/libgnomeprintui2.2-dev
  |
libgnome-desktop-dev/libedataserverui1.2-dev/librsvg2-dev
  |
libpanel-applet2-dev/libeel2-dev
  |
libnautilus-extension-dev

I checked all the packages in pbuilder, if the deps are fine and if they
need modifications.
There are surely more -dev packages, which had to be rebuilt. I
just looked at the ones installed on my local machine (+ the build
dependencies). You see, it needs some coordination to build the packages
in the right order, apply the necessary changes and make sure the
package maintainers work together with us to complete this transition.
As libqt4-dev is on its way already, we should start with a binNMU for
libcairo-dev first. After that libpango1.0-dev and libavahi-qt3-dev can
follow (avahi build-deps on gtk too, but we don't need to wait for an
updated libgtk2.0-dev as it doesn't affect the resulting qt3-dev package).
The next step would care for the two most important packages, kdelibs
and gtk+2.0. kdelibs can be binNMUed and for gtk+2.0 I would contact the
maintainer and send him the necessary patch.
Does that plan sound resonable?

Cheers,
Michael

And X.Org upstream are currently seriously discussing whether or not to
eliminate libtool, at which point you get broken away. This, believe it

changes.

If the dependent packages can be fixed with a rebuild, and the reason is
solid, rather than, 'I'm bored'? Yes.

Is a rebuild really that phenomenally onerous for you? In the time
spent arguing this point, tons of packages could've been simply rebuilt.
I don't see where the problem lies, unless you happen to enjoy random
flamebait more than actual productive work.

The problem is not rebuilding, the problem is having several dozen other
packages completely blindsided by this change *with no coordination*. The
Xorg 7.0 transition was presented to the release team as "no big deal, just
splitting the package". Instead, it's leaving half the packages in the
build queue unbuildable because of disruptive changes that no one thought
worth mentioning.

I agree with the principle of dropping .la files in cases where .pc files
are available as a better substitute, but not without *coordinating* with
people. The repeated statements from the release team that library changes
should be coordinated aren't some whim of those wacky RMs that should be
ignored; keeping a handle on the disruptive changes going into unstable is
essential if we're going to keep the announced release schedule.

So far I'm very unimpressed with the resultant bug count from the Xorg 7
transition.

That's to be expected. My concerns are _user_ concerns not _developer_
concerns. But, really, laptop-detect??? My three year old knows the
difference between a laptop and a desktop.

I notice you have no response to the Debian policy I quoted. So we've
established two things:

You stop paying attention when user concerns come up.

You aren't interested in Debian policy.

No, if I had wanted to suggest that, I would have come out and said it.
As it turns out, xserver-xorg and all the packages I listed are
unnecessary. Close the bug. For all I care you can make it depend on a
functioning webcam, so gamma can be adjusted for my interior lighting

Great analysis, thanks for this. I'd only gotten as far as libavahi-qt3-dev
and libgtk2.0-dev in the respective chains, so having this should save me
some time.

FWIW, not all of these packages are binNMUable. In particular, pango1.0 is
not, which is where that chain is currently stalled; there's a pango1.0
package in NEW which happens to fix this, so I'm currently waiting to see
whether this can get expedited or if a new sourceful upload needs to be made
that bypasses NEW.

cairo has already been binNMUed, avahi is queued up with a dep-wait on the
fixed qt4-x11.

Cheers,

Bug#362492: xfs: Config file location has changed - postinstall and documentation fails to note this

2006-04-13 Thread Mike Brodbelt
Package: xfs
Version: 1:1.0.1-4
Severity: normal

With previous versions of xfs, the config file used by default was
/etc/X11/fs/config, however the newly packaged version now defaults to
using /usr/lib/X11/fs/config. The README.Debian file still refers to
/etc/X11/fs/config as the configuration file, and installing the current
package results in a situation where the pre-existing configuration
information in /etc/X11/fs/config is silently ignored, and replaced with
the new package's default configuration. It would be nice if the
postinst script offered to migrate settings from a pre-existing
/etc/X11/fs/config file into the new config location.

Bug#362494: libxv1: Bad video display with X.org modular libraries

2006-04-13 Thread Guillaume Melquiond
Package: libxv1
Version: 1:1.0.1-2
Severity: important

When playing a movie, the picture stutters a lot, as if the video frames
were not displayed in the correct order (1,0,3,2,4,etc). Reverting the
libxv1 package to version 6.9.0.dfsg.1-6 fixed the issue.

This is not the only package I had to revert to pre-modular version. I
also reverted libxfixes3 because Gnome applications were not starting
anymore. So maybe the video problem is a consequence of a more general
issue in the modular X libraries.

The video card is a Trident CyberBlade XPAi1.

Package: xserver-xorg
Version: 1:7.0.10

When I upgraded to this version of xserver-xorg, I was required to also
install discover1, discover1-data, libdiscover1, mdetect, xresprobe
laptop-detect and dmidecode as dependencies.

Debian policy states, "The Depends field should be used if the
depended-on package is required for the depending package to provide a
significant amount of functionality."

I submit that 100% of the functionality of xserver-xorg can be obtained
without any of these packages. They are conveniences for configuration
purposes only. They bloat the system, clog the harddrive, complicate
package management, require continual maintenance, open security holes
and worst of all, slow the boot process significantly.

I don't think they even meet the requirement of Recommends or Suggests
as all these relationships are defined in terms of utility not
convenience of configuration. But I won't quibble, if you'll please not
make them Depends.

It's interesting that packages.debian.org lists these as both Recommends
and Depends. Perhaps this was just a slip up?

That's to be expected. My concerns are _user_ concerns not _developer_
concerns. But, really, laptop-detect??? My three year old knows the
difference between a laptop and a desktop.

I notice you have no response to the Debian policy I quoted. So we've
established two things:

You stop paying attention when user concerns come up.

You aren't interested in Debian policy.

No, if I had wanted to suggest that, I would have come out and said it.
As it turns out, xserver-xorg and all the packages I listed are
unnecessary. Close the bug. For all I care you can make it depend on a
functioning webcam, so gamma can be adjusted for my interior lighting
scheme.

The workaround is to install only the xserver-xorg-core package and not
xserver-xorg. You will still need to install laptop-detect as x11-common
depends on it. I already filed a bug report (#359972) on that.

It says that it is Multi_key. In fact, the problem is more subtle. In
xterm or emacs, the compose key is not working but in GTK
applications, it is working fine.

Bug#362501: xserver-xorg-video-nv should include the EXA patch

2006-04-13 Thread Dominik Kubla
Package: xserver-xorg-video-nv
Version: 1:1.0.1.5-2
Severity: wishlist

xserver-xorg-video-nv should include the EXA patch from:

http://wiki.x.org/wiki/ExaStatus

Since XAA is used by default, there would be no user visible change. It would
however allow
people to test the EXA implementation for NVidia cards.

I was able to rebuild the nv driver after patching the sources and fixing
src/Makefile.am
manually (the patch is for the monolitic source tree, but applies cleanly if
you ignore the
Imakefile part). The fixup for src/Makefile.am is trivial: just add the new
source files
nv_exa.c nv_dma.c, then rebuild the Makefiles with automake.

The EXA enabled driver allows me to use the composite extension with KDE on a
1100 MHz Duron
and a GeForce2 MX 100 with acceptable performance and stability. Using the
proprietary Nvidia
driver will give you higher performance but is unstable with the composite
extension and
render acceleration. Not to mention that you will run into problems building
this driver if
your kernel is too new.

So all in all Debian would benefit by using this patch.

There is nothing wrong here. What happens if you run
setxkbmap -model pc105 -layout de -variant nodeadkeys

Package: xkb-data
Version: 0.8-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

After upgrade to 0.8-1, keyboard layouts in xkb-data do not work at all.
It doesn't make any difference whether they are configured in xorg.conf
or in a setxkbmap command, neither does it matter whether I set a
symlink from /usr/share/X11/xkb to /etc/X11/xkb, as described in the
README file, or if I start the X server with the option “-xkbdir
/usr/share/X11/xkb” and an equivalent XKBPATH environmant variable.

Unfortunately, I couldn't get setxkbmap to say more than “Error loading
new keyboard description”.

That's very strange. I have no rwin key here, but setting another key
works in xterm. Maybe XCOMPOSEFILE variable is set in your enironment,
or you have a $HOME/.XCompose file which contains wrong paths?

This is a request to include the Cambodian Khmer language keyboard layout in
xlibs, or, at the least, as a separate download. This will allow one to type
Khmer in Debian, and will complement the packages kde-i18n-km,
openoffice.org-l10n-km, and ttf-khmeros that are already in the Debian Sid
archive.

The files can be found at:

Upstream developer is Jens Herden (jens at khmeros dot info).

I am using Debian GNU/Linux Sid, kernel 2.6.15.

Where did stuff go ? /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/icons/default/index.theme

2006-04-13 Thread Sune Vuorela
Hi!

I am playing a bit around with some cursor themes (comixcursors)

Earlier, I would need to, for every cursor theme, to do:
update-alternatives --install
usr/X11R6/lib/X11/icons/default/index.theme x-cursor-theme
/link/to/my.theme 40

But I cannot locate the index.theme-file ?

Is cursors handled a different way or where did the index.theme go ?

Any help appreciated

/Sune
