Bug#327000: Regression: suspend with radeon doesn't work any more
Hi, > I can't think of any that would be relevant for suspend/resume. Could it > be that the upgrade modified the configuration file or something though? No, I didn't. Both my kernel and the hibernate package have been unmodified since the beginning of august, with occasional reboots inbetween, although mostly suspend cycles. I just did a successful suspend by disabling xscreensaver locking and switching to text mode before suspend. Note that hibernate will switch to text mode anyway with my configuration... But I'm going to do some more tests. best regards, Erich Schubert -- erich@(vitavonni.de|debian.org)--GPG Key ID: 4B3A135C(o_ There are only 10 types of people in the world: //\ Those who understand binary and those who don't V_/_ Computer rechnen vor allem damit, daß der Mensch denkt.

Thnx for your precious help, now it works:) So i did: in XF86Config-4 the mouse device was: /dev/psaux (working fine with 2.4) i changed it to /dev/input/mice and it worked fine with kernel 2.6 Isn't it a kind of bug? (I think i modified XF86config-4 manually, but if I didn't would XF66Config be modified by Kernel installation? I think ti would be nice if the mouse were accessd throught a link, that depending on what kernel version is running points to the right device. Bug#319263: xserver-xorg [#319263]: Problem also exists with galeon and gimp
Package: xserver-xorg Version: 6.8.2.dfsg.1-6 Followup-For: Bug #319263 For, me the problem is reproducible very reliably when starting the gimp with an image and moving the picture around on the desktop very quickly. This "crashes" the X server within seconds. However, it was able to shut down the X server without a hard boot with executing ps ax | grep '/usr/X11R6/bin/X ' | cut -c1-5 | xargs kill -9 under 'at now +2minutes' before starting the gimp. Thanks for the hint with the nv instead of the nvidia driver. It solved the problem I could trigger with the gimp trick. There is some more information I can provide: I was running an strace on the X server while doing the gimp test and I found out that the X server is doing around 32000 [sic!] gettimeofday calls per second. This seems to be the reason why it seems frozen. This looks about like this in the log file of strace: [...] gettimeofday({1126297015, 48}, NULL) = 0 gettimeofday({1126297015, 79}, NULL) = 0 gettimeofday({1126297016, 10}, NULL)= 0 gettimeofday({1126297016, 42}, NULL)= 0 gettimeofday({1126297016, 74}, NULL)= 0 [...] gettimeofday({1126297015, 17}, NULL) = 0 gettimeofday({1126297015, 48}, NULL) = 0 gettimeofday({1126297015, 79}, NULL) = 0 gettimeofday({1126297016, 10}, NULL)= 0 gettimeofday({1126297016, 42}, NULL)= 0 gettimeofday({1126297016, 74}, NULL)= 0 [...] And grepping the strace log file reveals: $ zgrep 1126297016 X.out.gz | wc -l 31382 Quite insane, actually. ;-( The whole log file is available on request (5MB gzipped). 6.8 Freeze and 6.9
Hi all, You may have noticed that 6.8 has finally entered testing. That means it's time to freeze the trunk. That doesn't mean we're going to stop updating it, but it does mean two things: 1) No changes can go in without me approving them. The easiest way to do this is to manage it like debian-release does, where you can post a diff and request that it be allowed to enter the trunk. You should include the reason for wanting it in, and any bug #'s it'll fix. I'll then approve it and you can commit it yourself, or I'll reject it with a reason why, and we'll go from there. If you commit something without my approval I'll revert it without even looking at it. 2) All major changes should be targeted to the 6.9 tree. That means no new patches or backports unless really necessary, no major changes to the build system. The goal of this is to not rock the 6.8 boat now that we've got something solid. We can still do work on it, but I feel that the majority of the work should be targeted at 6.9 at this point. The 6.9 tree remains completely open for anyone to hack on as they will. Feel free to break it and fix it as necessary to get things in good shape, although please don't break it too badly since I've put a lot of effort in to getting it working :-) The primary goal for the next 6.9 updates will be to get them building on all arches. That means getting updated manifests and .install files for every arch. I already have the necessary build log from amd64, courtesy of Ari Pollak, but that leaves a lot to be desired. I'll send out a call to the porter lists in the next day or so to request failed build logs so we can get things going, although if someone wants to take the initiative and just volunteer to build 6.9 on a missing arch, they should feel free :-) I also plan on immediately importing 6.9rc1 when it's released. Daniel has imported a bunch of our patches directly in to the main tree, so we can happily chuck a few of them for rc1. At a certain point, I'm going to try and make regular CVS drops in to the repo so as to minimize the delta between us and upstream. This should allow us to get 6.9 in to unstable very soon after it is actually released. I haven't had time to look at 7.0 yet, although I've talked to Daniel about it a little bit. I want to get to work on it as soon as 6.9 has entered basic maintainance mode. That's a little ways off, so we don't have to think about it yet, but we need to start heading that way as soon as possible. The modular packages are the forseeable future, so our time is much better spent polishing those than the 6.8/6.9 series. - David Nusinow -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". I upgraded in hope to get 3d acceleration for my video card (SiS730) but now every opengl application seems to run fine but only shows a black window. -glxgears shows me some frame rates, but no gears -I could actually play armagetron if I were able to play it blind, the game starts, I can hear the sounds but the window is empty I am including the results of the test mentioned on Debian X Window System FAQ I list below the commands I tried and the output $LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose; export LIBGL_DEBUG; glxgears libGL: XF86DRIGetClientDriverName: 0.7.0 sis (screen 0) libGL: OpenDriver: trying /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/dri/sis_dri.so drmOpenByBusid: Searching for BusID pci::01:00.0 drmOpenDevice: node name is /dev/dri/card0 drmOpenDevice: open result is 4, (OK) drmOpenByBusid: drmOpenMinor returns 4 drmOpenByBusid: drmGetBusid reports pci::01:00.0 libGL error: Can't open configuration file /etc/drirc: No such file or directory. 999 frames in 5.0 seconds = 199.800 FPS 1054 frames in 5.0 seconds = 210.800 FP an empty window appeared on the screen $ LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=1; export LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT;glxgears 345 frames in 5.0 seconds = 69.000 FPS 459 frames in 5.0 seconds = 91.800 FPS this time (forcing sw rendering) the window showed the revolving gears the problem was not solved by commenting out the Load "dri" line from xorg.conf but that's probably because (according to /var/log/Xorg.0.log) dri was loaded anyway. $ grep -i dri /var/log/Xorg.0.log X.Org Video Driver: 0.7 X.Org XInput driver : 0.4 ABI class: X.Org Video Driver, version 0.7 ABI class: X.Org Video Driver, version 0.7 ABI class: X.Org Video Driver, version 0.7 (II) Loading /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/linux/v4l_drv.o ABI class: X.Org Video Driver, version 0.7 ABI class: X.Org Video Driver, version 0.7 Module class: XFree86 XInput Driver ABI class: XFree86 XInput driver, version 0.3 (II) Loading /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/sis_drv.o Module class: X.Org Video Driver ABI class: X.Org Video Driver, version 0.7 Module class: X.Org XInput Driver ABI class: X.Org XInput driver, version 0.4 Module class: X.Org XInput Driver ABI class: X.Org XInput driver, version 0.4 (II) v4l driver for Video4Linux (II) SIS: driver for SiS chipsets: SIS5597/5598, SIS530/620, ABI class: X.Org Video Driver, version 0.7 (II) SIS(0): SiS driver (2004/08/20-1) ABI class: X.Org Video Driver, version 0.7 (--) SIS(0): fb0: SiS kernel fb driver (sisfb) 1.7.17 detected (PCI: 01:00.0) (**) SIS(0): Option "DRI" "True" (II) SIS(0):whether enabled or disabled. Bug#318319: xserver-xorg: radeon driver troubles
Subject: Re: Bug#318319: xserver-xorg: radeon driver troubles Followup-For: Bug #318319 Package: xserver-xorg Version: 6.8.2.dfsg.1-6 I also have this problem switching between VTs. I first noticed it after upgrading to 6.8.2.dfsg.1-6 from the X.Org packages available at http://www.acm.cs.rpi.edu/~dilinger/xorg/. Those packages did not have this problem. Replacing the radeon_drv.o with the one mentioned above fixed the problem. Bug#245541: probably obsoleted by 7.0
Hi, ... Just to note that this bug will probably be fixed by the modular 7.0 build. That said, when closing 218614, it was mentioned that this bug should contain a latest version of the patch, but this doen't seem to be the case. I wonder what happened, Branden, and idea ? Anyway, the patch is probably obsolet even for 6.8/6.9, ... Too bad it was never time to apply this one though :( Friendly, Sven Luther -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
