I was just browsing the web with Mozilla 1.7.3 (the version in testing) a=
nd
when I middle-clicked a link the xserver received a Signal 11 and died. I
use fluxbox as my window manager.

At the moment of the crash, I had grip ripping an audio CD, fluxbox
running, mozilla (the suite) browsing some pages and some rxvt windows wi=
th
misc things (bash, mutt, fetchmail etc).

It's been quite a while since I last saw the X server crash and it is qui=
te
frightening to do so, as it is part of the infra-structure of most of the
systems that I use. Oh, this is on ix86.

I don't know how many other relevant details I can provide, but feel free
to ask me whatever is important to help diagnose this bug. My card is a
Matrox G400 monohead AGP with 16MB of RAM. The computer has an Asus A7V
board with KT133 Via chipset (not KT133A). It has a Duron 600MHz processo=
r
and I've been stably running testing here for a long time.

The only modification that I did to the X packages was to include us_intl
back (since the last upgrade broke my layout and I type texts mostly in
Portuguese in a keyboard with US layout).

I'm attaching the log after the crash (I don't know if it will be helpful
or not). I'm also attaching my configuration file.

Thanks for any help that you can provide and, again, please feel free to
ask any questions regarding my system that may lead to a solution.

Thanks, Rog=E9rio.

current support for intel i82915G

2004-11-13 Thread Fabrice LORRAIN (home)

Hi all,

On an up to date sid box
/usr/share/doc/xfree86-common/changelog.Debian.gz isn't very talkative
on intel i82915G. What current support 2D/3D can one have using the
current sarge/sid Xfree server for this chipset ?

FYI, this chipset is used in professional desktop sold lately (Dell
Optiplex Gx280, HP/Compaq 7000 series).

XFree86 does not support this, only X.Org.

Bug#278724: [nv] system hang when using gv, xmms, or lopster on NV5 [Aladdin TNT2] rev 0x20

2004-11-13 Thread Ennio-Sr
As a further contribution to my initial report I'm forwarding a copy of
*ps aux* taken running Woody and Sarge on the same box: there is one
particular line coming out in Sarge (where the hanging occurs) which
might signal something to you.
Other behaviours I found out are:

Running xmms or lopster on an x-terminal-emulator (either as root or
user) I can stretch any of the windows and no freezing occurs; if I do
the same using WMaker the PC hangs at the first attempt to stretch,
whether if BlackBox is in use, the stretching can go ahead a few times
with no hang at all.

Whathever I did I could not get a core file.

Could you please tell me whether you think it may be related to my
configuration or not? Could you reproduce this behaviour?

Thanks for your attention.
Regards,
   Ennio.

This is a *ps aux* taken running gv on Woody (kernel 2.2.22)

gv warns there is an error, but doesn't hang.
