Radeon 9000

2003-04-20 Thread Christian Schoenebeck
Hi!

Is it yet possible with current XFree86 from Sid to use a Radeon 9000
with 3D support? Do I need kernel modules, 3rd party drivers or
something?

Thanks, Christian

2D will work, but for 3D support, you'll have to wait for 4.3.0-0pre1v1,
which Branden and I are currently working on. Watch
http://people.debian.org/~branden/xsf/xsf.html for further news.

lcd 30"

2003-04-20 Thread Silvio Dalfini
Hi,
I have to configure a G400 or G550 or nvidia with a LG flatron lcd 30" on
debian. The native resolution is 1280x768, but I can't obtain it. I can to set
this resolution for a Hantarex 30", but not for this monitor. Some ideas?
Thanks a lot.

Oh, good to hear that!

And for the meantime, how can I achieve at least 2D? I tried to kick the
"GLcore" and "glx" module from XF86Config-4, but I still get only an
'(EE) No devices detected.' error. What may I have missed? Or do I also
have to grep for the experimental packages even for 2D?

Thanks

Bug#189934: xconsole: Never frees any memory

2003-04-20 Thread Jonathan David Amery
Package: xbase-clients
Version: 4.1.0-16
Severity: important

xconsole appears to never free any memory, because it never expires
any entries. Over the course of a long session it will slowly eat up
all the available memory on the system (with predictable
consequences).

Bug#189936: xdm: Given #189934 it might be a good idea to disable xconsole in xdm sessions.

2003-04-20 Thread Jonathan David Amery
Package: xdm
Version: 4.1.0-16
Severity: wishlist

Given the memory problem reported in 189934, it might be worth not
starting an xconsole on xdm displays, or at least ensuring that it
quit before the user's session starts, as this will stop large amounts
of memory disappearing without knowing where it has gone.

This is
