Bug#186237: xserver-xfree86: [sis] xv error: blue screen

2003-03-25 Thread A Mennucc
Package: xserver-xfree86
Version: 4.2.1-3.bunk.3
Severity: normal

hello

when I play a DVD (using mplayer) or a DV file,
I only see a blue screen

I think that the sis driver shipped with this version does not correctly
implement an XV extension that converts from some YUV colorspace to the
screen

(indeed, 'mplayer -vo x11 works', 'mplayer -vo xv' doesnt)

I downloaded the binary driver from http://www.winischhofer.net/
and now it works great. (whereas television output doesn't...
but I am going to write to T.Winischhofer and ask help)

bye and thanks for the packaging

ps: btw, as you see I use the backport .deb by Bunk;
but I think that this doesn't really matter.

Well, I think the X Window System only cares about locales as far as
LC_CTYPE goes. But anyway, yeah, it should recognize it.

The following NEW packages will be installed:

ttyS: 257 input overrun(s)

etc., continuing until I press ctrl-c. I tried this several times; sometimes
the numbers differ, on two occasions the keyboard froze.

To test whether one of the the extra packages is responsible, I installed
them separately, using dpkg. Then I ran dpkg on the xserver-xfree86
package, and the above overrun(s) lines again appeared.

Kernel version is 2.4.20-pre7-ac3, libc-2.2.5.so is on the system.

Motherboard is an intel 845 with P4 1700 MHZ cpu. /home directory is set up
with software raid 1. The kernel is the result of two patches applied to
version 2.4.19, in order to support a Promise ultra 133 TX2 controller. Two
hard drives: seagate 80 GB 7200 rpm and quantum 15 GB 5400 rpm.

I do plan to upload 4.2.1-7 as soon as I have finished preparing a patch
that will enable the Int10 extension to be truly disabled on the IA-64
platform. It doesn't work right when compiled with GCC 3.2, apparently,
and turning off the #define in xc/config/cf/xfree86.cf doesn't work
correctly -- the build process goes right ahead and tries to compile it
anyway.

There is no hard deadline for this; if I receive your newer, improved
templates before I've finalized that release, I'll include them.
Otherwise I'll incorporate the version in #185708.

Thanks for your efforts in improving the French localization of my
templates!

Eh, so let me be clear on this:

The above keyboard configuration:
  1) does NOT work with xlibs 4.2.1-6; and
  2) DOES work with xlibs 4.2.1-6pre7v2

Correct?

Future versions of the XFree86 package will help you better diagnose
this sort of problem.

Thanks for the report!

Bug#186321: xutils: missing ComplexCplusplusProgramTargetNoMan

2003-03-25 Thread Colin Watson
Package: xutils
Version: 4.2.1-6
Severity: normal

The changelog for 4.1.0-7 claims that patch #032 adds a
ComplexCplusplusProgramTargetNoMan() Imake rule. However, what it
actually does, apparently by mistake, is add a second version of
ComplexCplusplusProgramTarget(). Since one of those already exists
further up Imake.rules, the patch has no useful effect.

I need this in order to make nitpic build with g++ >= 3.0 (previously it
built with the non-"Cplusplus" variant of the Imake rule, but that
produces incorrect linkage with the more modern g++); see #127162. I
guess I might just write a man page in order to get it going, though. :)

Thanks,

Bug#186237: xserver-xfree86: [sis] xv error: blue screen

2003-03-25 Thread A Mennucc
Package: xserver-xfree86
Version: 4.2.1-3.bunk.3
Severity: normal

hello

when I play a DVD (using mplayer) or a DV file,
I only see a blue screen

I think that the sis driver shipped with this version does not correctly
implement an XV extension that converts from some YUV colorspace to the
screen

(indeed, 'mplayer -vo x11 works', 'mplayer -vo xv' doesnt)

I downloaded the binary driver from http://www.winischhofer.net/
and now it works great. (whereas television output doesn't...
but I am going to write to T.Winischhofer and ask help)

bye and thanks for the packaging

ps: btw, as you see I use the backport .deb by Bunk;
but I think that this doesn't really matter.

Well, I think the X Window System only cares about locales as far as
LC_CTYPE goes. But anyway, yeah, it should recognize it.

The following NEW packages will be installed:

etc., continuing until I press ctrl-c.

Correct?

Bug#185932: which libGL?

2003-03-25 Thread Michel Dänzer

Is this using the libGL.so.1 from the xlibmesa-gl package or the nVidia
drivers?

Future versions of the XFree86 package will help you better diagnose
this sort of problem.

Thanks for the report!

Bug#186321: xutils: missing ComplexCplusplusProgramTargetNoMan

2003-03-25 Thread Colin Watson
Package: xutils
Version: 4.2.1-6
Severity: normal

The changelog for 4.1.0-7 claims that patch #032 adds a
ComplexCplusplusProgramTargetNoMan() Imake rule. However, what it
actually does, apparently by mistake, is add a second version of
ComplexCplusplusProgramTarget(). Since one of those already exists
further up Imake.rules, the patch has no useful effect.

I need this in order to make nitpic build with g++ >= 3.0 (previously it
built with the non-"Cplusplus" variant of the Imake rule, but that
produces incorrect linkage with the more modern g++); see #127162. I
guess I might just write a man page in order to get it going, though. :)

Thanks,
