Bug#259521: http://qa.debian.org/man-pages.html possibly outdated
Package: www.debian.org I'd like to write some manpages for packages which I use (or know well), I'm puzzled about this website. E. g. Package "tar" is listed on page http://qa.debian.org/man-pages.html because it have no manpage for "rmt", but the manpage already exists in "tar". In addition I doesn't understand: "For those man pages listed in bold, a bug report has already been filed so these pages should be given priority.", because e. g. "ldapdns" is listed with manpages in bold, but no related bug is filed. Could anyone look over this page and please improve it? Thank you. What Language are you > using ? > Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot to say I tried the German page. > This page is updated daily ~ 11 GMT > I have test it yesterday ~ 22 CEST I think, this were caused by the delay between template update in your repository and update of the web page. E.g. pango1.0: Yesterday link points to pango1.0_1.4.0-4_templtes.pot.gz and gave a 404 error. Today the link points to pango1.0_1.4.1-1_templates.pot.gz and it works. Due the website surely cannot be updated for every changed template, could you keep one old version in your repositoy untill webpage is updated? This would prevent the 404 errors, that IMO look always unprofessional. Or modify 404 error site for this reason to noticed visitor of a possible new template version and ask him/her to look at it later again. Perhaps an cgi-Script as 404 error "page" that cuts file name part of URL and show directory listing. He/she could then pick the template file from there and every thing would be fine.
