I've just opened an MR that I think fixes this bug.

Thanks for considering.

Bug#1101674: www.debian.org: in bug report display no reminder next to Reply link to use disposable address

2025-03-29 Thread Christopher Witkowski
Package: www.debian.org
Severity: normal
X-Debbugs-Cc: cw...@z46860.e4ward.com

Dear Maintainer,

I replied to a bug report I had submitted to add some more information,
but, a second after I hit send I realized that the email had my actual
email address and not the disposable one I had set up. There needs to
be a reminder, in something like bright red, next to the Reply link
to use one's disposable email address. I use e4ward.com and it has a
page that will translate the To: address into something that will pass
through their server and show the disposable address rather than my
actual address.

You have a statement about using a disposable email address when one
first enters an email address for bug submission. You need to add a
reminder in all the other places where an email can be sent.

Process for removing pages from the wiki (was Re: Wiki: Remove some outdated pages?)

I vote for removal.

I've noticed a couple of wiki contributors recently doing large-scale
page deletions. In some cases, these are then reverted by irritated page

Can people please first tag pages they think should be removed into
CategoryProposedDeletion² and add a banner to the affected pages:
there's a template banner at the top of CategoryProposedDeletion

that can be copied and pasted.

Then wait an interval of at least 14 days³ before deleting the pages, in
order to give people a chance to review the proposal?

I hope we can update accordingly.

Core Debian Team participation DebConf 25

2025-03-29 Thread Stefano Rivera

Hello Everybody,

DebConf 25 is coming soon [0], and we'd like to remind all Debian's core
teams to consider who is going to represent your team at DebConf. In
recent years, Debian's core teams have not been well represented, and we
should improve on that. DebConf is one of the best times to have casual
conversations with people and unblock gnarly problems.

[0]: https://debconf25.debconf.org/news/2025-03-24-dc25-registration-cfp-open/

This is the first DebConf in Western Europe for many years, so we expect
many more attendees to be able to attend conveniently, by train, than in
recent years. If you've been waiting to come to a nearby DebConf, now is
the time.

Bursaries for DebConf are available [1] if you register before April
14th. If you're active in one of the core teams, you'll alomst certainly
be able to receive financial assistance to attend. If finances are a
blocker for your team attending, please get in contact with the DPL, the
DebConf Content Team or even me, I'm sure we can
make a plan.

[1]: https://debconf25.debconf.org/about/bursaries/

Personally, I've found that almost every team in Debian can benefit from
having a regular BoF. If it seems like nothing is happening in the team,
worth talking about, even a noop BoF can be a good way to find out who
is interested in joining the team and helping out. Just talking about
the long-standing problems is the first step to fixing them.

Apologies for spam to all the teams listed on our project organization
page [2]. I think this is a good way to ensure that all core teams are
contacted, but I'm sure there's a lot of duplication.
