Please adopt the data source www.debian.org for Debian Contributors (#734509)

2014-07-19 Thread Laura Arjona Reina
(Mail sent to the debian-www list, CC'ing the bug report)

Hi everybody of the website team:

When Debian Contributors was launched, some data sources were created as
"proof of concept", among this, there is the data source of website
committers:

https://contributors.debian.org/source/www.debian.org

It would be really awesome that somebody of the website team adopts this
data source, so contributions are periodically gathered and sent to
contributors.debian.org

The details are explained in bug #734509:

https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=734509

And how to create a data source is explained here:

https://wiki.debian.org/DebianContributors

(but in fact you don't need to create a data source, only need to edit
the existing one, adopt it, and configure the cron job to post submissions).

Any DD can do this job (I'm not a DD [yet]). Could anybody help?

I personally
don't think the dates of use or deployment are that important at the
start of showcasing who and where Debian is being used. If needed a
followup to a company or individual can be sent to see if they are still
using Debian. As the section becomes more prominent and new testimonials
arrive those can be dated.

Some years ago, a couple of people from the webteam pinged everyone having
submitted an entry, and updated/removed entries as the replies arrived. It
would be great to have someone do this in an organised manner.

Below is a broken links report for debian.org/users
. Many of the links can be repaired and
some may need to be removed. Let me know if anyone is interested in
receiving a monthly report. (Reports are checked for false positives
before they are sent and are only sent if there are broken links.)

Hmm, I wonder why urlcheck isn't flagging these links?

Because it dies soon (and does for ages):

tail -n11 /srv/www.debian.org/cron/urlcheck/logs/web.20140719.users
Looking into http://www.debian.org/users/edu/ciid-politicas-unam
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "./urlcheck.py", line 259, in
do_page(url)
  File "./urlcheck.py", line 43, in do_page
check_url(url)
  File "./urlcheck.py", line 88, in check_url
msg = check_http(url, parts)
  File "./urlcheck.py", line 158, in check_http
msg = " : IOError: " + arg.args[0]
TypeError: cannot concatenate 'str' and 'int' objects

I’m lost in Python, so not much I can actually do here, but if someone
is interested into fixing that (or provide an alternative as discussed
almost two years ago [1]), please, go for it.

David
