Hello,

The links on this page:

http://www.debian.org/CD/http-ftp/#stable

are still leading to 7.2.0 release.
=> so we get a 404 error.

Not Found

The requested URL /debian-cd/7.2.0/i386/iso-dvd/ was not found on this
server.
Apache/2.4.4 (Unix) Server at cdimage.debian.org Port 80

The workarround is to change the 2 digit into 3 so that we go to the page:

http://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/7.2.0/i386/iso-dvd/
=> http://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/7.3.0/i386/iso-dvd/

Updating the website on point releases

2013-12-16 Thread Steve McIntyre
Hey folks,

Thinking about the usuel point release update problems with CD image
filenames and web pages getting out of sync...

Is there any way that I could push updated version numbers and trigger
a (mimited) website rebuild just before I push the latest images into
place on cdimage? pabs and I were discussing this earlier on
#debian-www:

2013-12-16 12:05 GMT < Sledge> is there a good way to make a rebuild happen
on-demand such that I *can* sensibly do that?
2013-12-16 12:08 GMT < pabs> get yourself added to press/debwww groups so you
can login to www-master and run update-part
2013-12-16 12:09 GMT < pabs> or maybe the ?cd group? could get access to do that
2013-12-16 12:12 GMT < Sledge> might be the best way, yeah
2013-12-16 12:13 GMT < Sledge> in the past, I've sometimes got taffit or
somebody to do an update ASAP after I change
   things on cdimage
2013-12-16 12:13 GMT < Sledge> but it would be neater to be able to update the
web site and stuff on pettersson nigh-on in sync
2013-12-16 12:18 GMT < pabs> I think it would make sense if the cd team and
also the release team would have access to do that
2013-12-16 12:19 GMT < pabs> I suggest discussing it on -www and submit a
ticket to DSA if it is accepted

Thoughts?

Why not change the links to use the 'current'[1] symlink? A solution
would still have to be found for direct links to specific images, but it
would be an improvement.

[1] e.g. http://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/current/i386/iso-cd/
instead of http://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/7.3.0/i386/iso-cd/

Kind regards,
Andrei

Mr. Lincoln's Washington

"Open through Jan. 25, 2015"

Ever wonder what the District looked like 150 years ago? This exhibition uses
reproductions of original photographs, prints, drawings and maps to document
how the Civil War affected patterns of life in the District of Columbia.

Special focus centers on activities in and around the National Historic
Landmark building that once housed the Patent Office—now home to the
Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery and the Smithsonian American Art
Museum.

The exhibition includes views of forts and hospitals, the Navy Yard and the
Sixth Street Wharf, and landmarks such as the Capitol, White House, Ford’s
Theatre and the Old Capitol Prison. A special feature are the images of notable
Washington personalities—statesmen, spies, soldiers and nurses—who gave the
city a sense of national purpose, glamour and intrigue during four years of
war. The exhibition curator is historian James Barber.

This exhibition is made possible through the generosity of Albert H. Small.

That’s what we already do for the Live images, but the main links point
to specific files containing the version number. E.g. on the main page:

http://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/7.3.0/multi-arch/iso-cd/debian-7.3.0-amd64-i386-netinst.iso

If a symlink could also be provided on cdimage side to the files we
need, it would probably be a worth considering solution (no delay, links
“always” up). If not, I’d be happy to see the debian-cd people join the
press group (or let the DSA create a specific group giving them the
needed rights) allowing them to trigger an effective partial rebuild
(and I’d also be happy if the non official press helpers doing the
announcement work – e.g. Cédric Boutillier and Paul Wise – could be
added to the press group if they wish to).

Regards

David

Workflow described some time ago, and applied many times without user complain
on lists:
http://lists.debian.org/debian-www/2009/09/msg00055.html

I wonder on which wiki page it should be pasted to (release faq, page under
webmaster team ?)
