You could just use a replica of projectb (or UDD), which would allow
you to avoid wasting CPU on parsing the Packages/Sources/Contents
files.

Please mention Debian Administrator's Manual in the main list of documentation

2013-08-27 Thread Reuben Thomas
I was unaware of this manual, and someone I was trying to help recently
came across it after much searching, and found it much clearer than the
documentation mentioned at

http://www.debian.org/doc/#manuals

Since it is packaged in Debian, is DFSG-free, and does indeed appear to be
of high quality, why not mention it on the above page?

Bug#720970: packages.debian.org: ban check_http hits on 1MB files

2013-08-27 Thread Csillag Tamas
Hi symoon,

This is the closest thing I was able to produce:

SetEnvIfNoCase User-Agent check_http keep_out
ErrorDocument 403 "what are you doing here? - tell us email@address"

  Order Allow,Deny
  Allow from all
  Deny from env=keep_out

Bug#721114: [www.debian.org] /doc/index.fr.html: Broken link to "documents d'intérêt historique"

Bug#721116: [www.debian.org] /doc/: half-broken link to refcards.com

2013-08-27 Thread Filipus Klutiero

Package: www.debian.org
Severity: minor

http://www.debian.org/doc/index.en.html#other contains:

refcards.com
A collection of quick reference cards focused mainly on Free and Open
Source Software

While the link above should eventually work, it sometimes yields a 404 Not
Found error, perhaps half of the time (even though there's a single IP).

When you manage to access, you'll see the last news item on that website is
more than 6 years old. The refcard about Debian is a broken link (actually, a
link to an ad portal). There are a lot more refcards, and no doubt some
valuable information in these. However, since they're not Debian-specific, it
shouldn't be hard to find them or better alternatives via a search engine.
Therefore, I doubt the link is currently more valuable than noisy, even if it
wasn't for the 404.

I recommend to remove this link.
