Sorry for bothering again, but I'm about to prepare a related patch to document how to get Debian on public clouds (bug report pending). If you think you will potentially apply this patch, I'll provide a patch assuming it will be applied; otherwise I'll propose a patch against the current page, but that would make it a bit more annoying applying the previous patch.
