Bug#640585: http://wiki.debian.org/MultimediaCodecs page provides instructions leading breaking vlc package from squeeze main

2011-09-05 Thread juan.r.d.silva
Package: wiki.debian.org
Severity: important

Following instructions on http://wiki.debian.org/MultimediaCodecs page to use
debian-multimedia.org to install ffmpeg (and other related) files totally
breaks vlc package from debian squeeze main rendering vlc useless (no video in
my case, just a black screen).

The conflict between debian-multimedia.org ffmpeg files and debian stable vlc
package is a well known problem and is documented/discussed in many places
including debian users forum (
http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=65954 ).

The wiki page in question should be either totaly removed or seriosly
revisited.
