Please read from here

http://www.debian.org/devel/website/using_cvs

You don't need CVS server on your machine, only CVS client, some disk
space (and bandwith for checkout and later updates).

Also you don't need any account, you can checkout those anonymously,
then send diffs to this mailing list. And also you can get your own
account only after people here making decision about giving accounts
(not me) see that your diffs are good quality, because anyone with
account can (even accidentally) break many things on the website, and we
don't want to see that happen.

Erm, the informations about the armel port is contained in the arm
page: http://www.debian.org/ports/arm/

Can you please check with the arm porter team wether your request was
proper and how it should be addressed, or wether you just didn't know
that the infromations are included in the /ports/arm/ pages and that
your bugreport simply can get closed?

 Thanks,

Moved the file, thanks for the notice. About the missing "english"
translation, propably the l10n-portuguese should be contacted, or the
consultants team be guided to only add stuff where the english part is
directly done.

From the website point of view this bug is fixed, the file isn't
wrongly addressed after the next rebuild, so closing the bug.

Oops. I think you're right.

Sure. I have CC'ed Riku. But my point is just that the word "armel"
appears appears nowhere on the ports page itself. But if it's fine
with the porters, it's fine with me too.

Thanks.

My email address is listed in plaintext on one of your webpages

2008-09-24 Thread Jaakko Tapani Peltonen

Dear debian.org administrators,
on your website there is a webpage that lists my email address in
plaintext:
http://packages.debian.org/changelogs/pool/main/f/falconseye/falconseye_1.9.3-1$

Can you please change this page so that the address is listed as "jaakko

receive, and this change could make it a bit harder for spammers to find
the address.

Best regards,

RE: Not Cool - If a registration or a donation would prevent this- I'd do it, But this is rude.

2008-09-24 Thread Jonah Holmberg
Dear Franklin,

Is this message based on clicks, or bytes? If it's bytes, you may want to
give weight for the graphics.

In the interest of good pubic relations, you may want to get the message
changed. ASCII text does not properly convey the author's original
(probably benign and humorous) emotion.

> Warning:

locked out for a longer time!

The abuse protection mechanism on the "moinmoin wiki engine" may have some
unintended consequences:
1) A computer enthusiast is tired of Micro$oft and is
interested in Debian.
2) He browses around the site looking at information, creating
new tabs in firefox as he goes, to keep some interesting pages up for later
perusal.
3) He flips up a few pages with some graphics, checking out
screen shots of some games. The server detects a somewhat larger amount of
bandwidth going to his IP address.

4) He receives an abrupt and jarring message telling him HE DID
SOMETHING WRONG, and GIVES ORDERS on what to do next, and a THREAT that
he'll receive even MORE FUTURE BANISHMENT if he doesn't change his behavior.

5) He feels bad. He wonders what he did wrong. Upon reflection
he feels unwelcome. Offended. And develops subconscious negative emotions
around everything Debian.

6) He then surfs over to the Microsoft website. There he feels
welcome. And all they ever ask of him is some money if he decides to use
their products.
7) The Debian website's overall bandwidth gets reduced, but 2
months later a new computer is purchased with Windows Vista, and one more
computer enthusiast goes through life without ever using FOSS again.

How about a new message:
Dear Welcome Visitor,
We're sorry for the inconvenience, but you've triggered the wiki's
surge protection by doing XX requests in YY seconds. If you wait ZZ
seconds, the link will be available again.
We hope you'll enjoy reading the pages you've already downloaded in
the meantime.
Best regards, The Debian Team

Sincerely,
Jonah Holmberg
Tentative Debian Enthusiast

The moinmoin wiki engine has a built-in protection to prevent abuses.

This error message should not happen when you browse the wiki.
- Did you visit a *lot* of pages, very-very quickly ?
- Are you behind a proxy (school, etc...) where multiple visitor might
come from the same IP as you ?

Debian is 100% free.

Left menu not translated on www.debian.org/CD/

2008-09-24 Thread Hans F. Nordhaug
The (left) menu on http://www.debian.org/CD/ is based on the po file
po/cdimage.xx.po AFAICT. However, only the first line "Debian on CD"
is translated even if the po files are completely translated.
What's going on? (I tested several languages.)

Hans

Hmm, might be a regression from my latest edits, I'll check into it.

OK, it's fixed now, it was a trivial error on my part, sorry about that.

(Apparently we not only have to tag every string with a gettext domain,
but we also have to bind-gettext-domain to the same domain for everything
to work. It's a bit redundant, but oh well, at least it's centralized.)
