Thanks for the suggestion. The wording was indeed a bit confusing. I
changed it to "You can install Debian (on as many machines as you like)
without downloading all packages yourself". I think that should clear
things up.
The change should be online in a few hours.

You're very welcome!

Kind regards,
Bas.

Yes - in the future, please use the form reachable from
 for similar requests.

There is no Debian architecture named "x86_64" - I've used "amd64" which is
probably what you mean.

I've just added you to our vendor list. The web page at
should be updated in a few hours!

All the best,

  Richard

status of PO files for languages

2007-08-31 Thread Sharuzzaman Ahmat Raslan
Hi all,

I would like to ask about status of PO files for languages.

In http://www.debian.org/intl/l10n/po/todo I can see that there is a
lot of packages that actually contain PO files but it is listed as
"Those packages are either not i18n-ed or stored in an unparseable
format, e.g. an asterisk is put after packages in dbs format, which
may then contain localized files."

One such file is evolution-data-server at
http://i18n.debian.net/material/po/unstable/main/e/evolution-data-server/po/
where there is clearly PO files in there. I'm sure they are i18n-ed
and parseable, and not in other unknown format.

Hope I can get this clarified.

Thanks.

Who's using Debian?

2007-08-31 Thread Simon Botting
Good work fellas, keep it up! It's a great distribution!

Name of organization:
enbuenosaires.com

Organization type:
commercial

Home page link:
http://www.enbuenosaires.com/index-en.html";>Apartments to
rent and for sale, Buenos Aires Argentina - enbuenosaires.com

Why we use debian:
We are a small property web site based in buenos aires argentina,
curretnly with around 12 visitors a month and doing and around
1,500,000 page views. We use debian on our production and development
servers, for several reasons:
its extremely easy to install and maintain,
The package management is really straightforward personally I prefer it of rpm
The documentation likewise is very good, we're running apache2.0 /
java tomcat 5.5.17 / mysql 5.x/ qmail and its handles it beautifully

Cleanup of the Debian CD/DVD vendor list

2007-08-31 Thread Richard Atterer
Hello,

this mail is sent (in Bcc) to a number of vendors in the Debian CD/DVD
vendor list, . I have just removed
these vendors' entries from the list for various reasons.

If my removal of your shop was in error, please apply to be re-added to the
list via . To be re-added, your site
should allow users to make up their mind about buying from you, by citing
prices, exact product information, a way to contact you, and a procedure to
actually buy something. Also, you should offer Debian 4.0, not any earlier
version.

Some vendors did not specify contact information - that's just bad luck for
them, they will not get this message...

Here's the log of my changes:
removed sarahgifts.com - no longer offers Debian DVDs
removed geocities.com/luizotavio92/ - has been showing a maintenance message
for quite a while
removed centraldossites.com - no longer offers Debian DVDs
removed opendoorsoftware.com - site shows an error message only
removed buylinuxdvd.com - site shows Apache dir listing only
removed e-officecom.com - domain offline
removed alllinuxcd.com - connection refused
removed market.altkomp.pl - deburl outdated, also site only offers 3.0r2
removed subasta.pl - host unreachable
removed distributor.infinitaus.com - site shows empty Apache dir listing only
removed chocky.org - redirects elsewhere, no mention of CDs on new page
removed 205lan.com - only displays "relocating to a new server" message
removed madtux.org - no longer offers Debian DVDs

Cheers,

  Richard
