This is how it was used at Debconf where high interest was also shown
for the t-shirt. I would also like it to stay as a kind of mark for
people really involved in the project.

The main goal of the t-shirt is bringing attention on the
project. This means that people wearing it should be able to talk
about the project...in details if needed.

However, this also raises the topic of a wider coverage
t-shirt...maybe with another design or so.

PS to Hanna: Elisabeth *loved* the t-shirt...:-)

PS to all: Elisabeth is my wife

Hope everyone made it well home for those who were at Debconf. For
others, I'm glad for you that this week of "we are together and you'r
enot with us" is finished. It was probably not that delightful seeing
us share things you couldn't. I sincerely hope that even more d-w
members will be able to make it at Debconf 6.

Debian Dicts, was: Finally: a Linuxtag report

I've shortly talked to Jutta about this and it seems packaging
might get a
bit difficult since she's concerned with a lot of other things, so

else might have to do it.

I am already working on that. But there are still problems getting
the dictd files work witth dictd, which understands utf8 files now
but has changed the file format and there is no description available
- - all in the dictd source code.
The woody version of dictd did not work with utf8 files, but serpento
did. Serpento on the other hand seems not to be developed any longer.

Files for dict server created by the new version of makdictutf8.pl
now can be converted for usage with dictd using dictfmt and
makedictutf8.pl is fully working with perl 5.8, which was another
issue. If anybody wants to help with figuring out the specs for the
files dictd can be fed with, that would make things easier for me
(and maybe for others creating or packaging dicts, too).

So help is needed for:
1. reading the dictd source code to make me able to write specs for
the file format and make the changes in makedictutf8.
2. testers for languages like punjabi, bulgarian or not yet added
languages like Vientamese, Japanese or chinese.

3. last not least: translators translating the raw dicts.

However, adding them to debian.org should be
easier and I would very much recommend doing so!!

Debian has not dict server running. So there can be the web pages
only. The best place might be the doc tree. Maybe, I find someone who
wants to include the dicts there, when I have solved the problems
mentioned.

greetings

Jutta

;-( Do you have HEAD, ngrep, Ethereal, netcat or telnet,
so you can troubleshoot, and tell us how it fails?

Hardly. I get at 200 OK over my Internet connection
in Oslo, without presenting any credentials. To make
sure, I accessed it with Mplayer and VLC, and it's all
there.

Next time, how about scheduling a presentation and discussion session
over the Net, as part of the program? That way some of those of us
who can't be there, can actually participate, and share in some of
the info available.

I don't know how hard this would be to setup, but I'd be happy to
help if I can.

It's great to be able to be present personally, and I don't think
anything can really match that, but being able to be _part_ of
Linuxtag or similar cons, help arrange things, "attend" talks,
perhaps even contribute material, would be wonderful for those of us
whose barriers to attendance are temporarily or permanently way too
high.

Just a thought (I have them occasionally ;) ).
