I planned to tweak the description before actually submitting the package. Hello Oliver, well, the packaging is complete and it is waiting with my sponsor for review and upload (for what, 6month or so?). The version that is waiting for upload is still 8.01. You can fetch a version from http://www.mesing.de/umlet/umlet_8.01{-1.diff.gz,-1.dsc,.orig.tar.gz} though you would need to build it by yourself. I will try an prod my sponsor again, but I can't promise anything there. Yes, there are different back-end scripts. Due to different release models the both scripts use different algorithms. The distro data are stored in cvs files (like a table) and then I throw a little bit of Python on it. Which languages are allowed in your eyes and is a functional programming language among them? It's intended to be used by developers on their developing machines. You do not have python installed? There will be a trade off: Either the tool uses a (over-killing) programming language or a simple programming language will convert this little task into a complex program. (Bug #311248) * Package name: gtk2-engines-experience Version : 0.9.6 Upstream Author : Benjamin Berg <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> * URL : http://benjamin.sipsolutions.net/Projects/eXperience * License : GPL Description : eXperience theme engine for GTK 2 This package contains the eXperience theme engine, which is needed to be able to use the eXperience GTK theme (and maybe other themes). . It is a pixmap based engine, which is able to do some pixmap operations dynamically. Most notable, it can change the color of pixmaps to represent the colors used inside the gtk theme. This feature is for example used to create the different color schemes available for the eXperience gtk theme. They are available from: deb http://benjamin.sipsolutions.net/debian/ stable/ Since I am the upstream author of this program, and build a debian package for myself, I thought it would be easiest if I can get my package sponsored. If this package gets into debian, there is also a need for the gtk theme and the icon theme. I also have some packages for these, and am willing to maintain them. Bug#1036567: ITP: raspirus -- A resource-friendly MD5-signatures-based virusscanner with cross-platform support, user-friendly GUI and CLI options
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: Benjamin Demetz X-Debbugs-Cc: debian-de...@lists.debian.org, raspirus@gmail.com * Package name: raspirus Version : 0.1.8 Upstream Author : Benjamin Demetz * URL : https://github.com/Raspirus/Raspirus * License : GPLv3 Programming Lang: Rust, JavaScript Description : A resource-friendly MD5-signatures-based virusscanner with cross-platform support, user-friendly GUI and CLI options Raspirus has mainly been created to scan folders or removable storage units like the USB thumb drive. The idea behind the app is to have it installed on a Raspberry Pi with a touchscreen, where users connect their storage units with unknown or unsafe contents and the app then quickly scans it and gives a feedback. The app has been designed with a web-frontend using the Next.js framework and the JavaScript language. The frontend then comunicates with the backend written in Rust using a Rust framework called Tauri. This framework provides an API-like communication. This helps separate the frontend from the backend, while also ensuring that the app can be compiled to a standalone software. I personally use this program to scan USB thumb drives in a setup like I described above, but with it's cross-platform nature, it can also be installed on your desktop and used to scan local folders or files. The app also comes with a CLI-only option, a Makefile and Docker support. A similar program to Raspirus could be ClamAV. The reason why I couldn't use it on my Raspberry Pi 3 is because it requires too much RAM to function properly. ClamAV requires a couple GB of RAM, while Raspirus can work with as low as 100MB. This is my first time submitting to the Debian packaging system. I hope I can get some valuable feedback on how to improve further, maybe a sponsor could help me. I am currently the only maintainer of the project, and I think it's fine for now as the project is not that big. In the future I hope I can have some more contributors to help me out with new issues and possible bug reports.

Bug#997989: ITP: golang-github-hodgesds-perf-utils -- Perf Utilities for Go
X-Debbugs-CC: debian-de...@lists.debian.org, debian...@lists.debian.org Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: Benjamin Drung * Package name : golang-github-hodgesds-perf-utils Version : 0.3.1-1 Upstream Author : Daniel Hodges * URL : https://github.com/hodgesds/perf-utils * License : Expat Programming Lang: Go Description : Perf Utilities for Go This package is a Go library for interacting with the perf subsystem in Linux. This library allows you to do things like see how many CPU instructions a function takes (roughly), profile a process for various hardware events, and other interesting things. Note that because the Go scheduler can schedule a goroutine across many OS threads it becomes rather difficult to get an exact profile of an individual goroutine. However, a few tricks can be used; first a call to runtime.LockOSThread (https://golang.org/pkg/runtime/#LockOSThread) to lock the current goroutine to an OS thread. Second a call to unix.SchedSetaffinity (https://godoc.org/golang.org/x/sys/unix#SchedSetaffinity), with a CPU set mask set. Note that if the pid argument is set 0 the calling thread is used (the thread that was just locked). Before using this library you should probably read the perf_event_open man page which this library uses heavily. See the kernel guide https://perf.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/Tutorial for a tutorial how to use perf and some of the limitations. . If you are looking to interact with the perf subsystem directly with perf_event_open syscall than this library is most likely for you. A large number of the utility methods in this package should only be used for testing and/or debugging performance issues. This is due to the nature of the Go runtime being extremely tricky to profile on the goroutine level, with the exception of a long running worker goroutine locked to an OS thread. Eventually this library could be used to implement many of the features of perf but in pure Go. Currently this library is used in node_exporter (https://github.com/prometheus/node_exporter) as well as perf_exporter (https://github.com/hodgesds/perf_exporter), which is a Prometheus exporter for perf related metrics. This package was vendored in prometheus-node-exporter and is packages now separately. X-Debbugs-CC: debian-de...@lists.debian.org, debian...@lists.debian.org Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: Benjamin Drung * Package name : golang-github-go-kit-log Version : 0.2.0-1 Upstream Author : Go kit * URL : https://github.com/go-kit/log * License : Expat Programming Lang: Go Description : minimal and extensible structured logger (Go library) The log package provides a minimal interface for structured logging in services. It may be wrapped to encode conventions, enforce type-safety, provide leveled logging, and so on. It can be used for both typical application log events, and log-structured data streams. . Structured logging is, basically, conceding to the reality that logs are data, and warrant some level of schematic rigor. Using a stricter, key/value-oriented message format for our logs, containing contextual and semantic information, makes it much easier to get insight into the operational activity of the systems we build. Consequently, package log is of the strong belief that "the benefits of structured logging outweigh the minimal effort involved (https://www.thoughtworks.com/radar/techniques/structured-logging)". This library was split from golang-github-go-kit-kit and is used by Prometheus node exporter. -- Benjamin Drung Senior DevOps Engineer and Debian & Ubuntu Developer Compute Platform Operations 1&1 IONOS SE | Greifswalder Str. 207 | 10405 Berlin | Deutschland E-Mail: benjamin.dr...@ionos.com | Web: www.ionos.de Hauptsitz Montabaur, Amtsgericht Montabaur, HRB 24498 Vorstand: Hüseyin Dogan, Dr. Martin Endreß, Claudia Frese, Henning Kettler, Arthur Mai, Matthias Steinberg, Achim Weiß Aufsichtsratsvorsitzender: Markus Kadelke Member of United Internet

Bug#1074793: ITP: git-ubuntu -- maintain an Ubuntu source package in a git tree
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: Benjamin Drung X-Debbugs-Cc: debian-de...@lists.debian.org, bdr...@debian.org * Package name: git-ubuntu Version : 1.1 Upstream Contact: ubuntu-devel-disc...@lists.ubuntu.com * URL : https://launchpad.net/git-ubuntu * License : GPL-3 Programming Lang: Python Description : maintain an Ubuntu source package in a git tree git-ubuntu is tooling that provides unified git-based workflows for the development of Ubuntu source packages. . The git-ubuntu importer service maintains a view of the entire packaging version history of Ubuntu source packages using git repositories with a common branching and tagging scheme. The git-ubuntu CLI provides tooling and automation that understands these repositories to make the development of Ubuntu itself easier. . Since Ubuntu's packaging architecture pre-dates git, different packages have evolved to use different mechanisms to achieve the same thing. Developers had to learn them all in order to be effective when working across a wide range of packages. git-ubuntu's unification of these mechanisms allows for simpler, more general tooling, which results in faster onboarding of new developers and easier "drive-by" contributions. . git-ubuntu is useful for those inspecting, working on, or looking to contribute to Ubuntu source packages themselves. I am using this package and plan to maintain it as part of the Debian Python Team. -- Benjamin Drung Debian & Ubuntu Developer
