Bug#1060245: RFP: plots -- graph plotting app for GNOME

  Version : 0.8.5

* URL : https://github.com/alexhuntley/Plots

  Programming Lang: Python
Description : graph plotting app for GNOME

Plots is a graph plotting app for GNOME. Plots makes it easy to
visualise mathematical formulae. In addition to basic arithmetic
operations, it supports trigonometric, hyperbolic, exponential and
logarithmic functions, as well as arbitrary sums and products. It can
display polar equations, and both implicit and explicit Cartesian
 equations.
 .
Plots is designed to integrate well with the GNOME desktop and takes
advantage of modern hardware using OpenGL, and currently supports OpenGL
 3.3+.

This would be a nice addition to Debian, and would add another piece of
educational software. I may or may not decide to package this later on.

Same.

Currently, there are quite a few merged patches ready in VCS as well,
including the one I'm interested in (added support for loong64).

Just being able to actually release new version of lintian would be nice.

I'm pretty sure we need hands on lintian and I'm willing to help as well.

Same. My perl-fu isn't strong enough to take over maintainership of core
package in perl.

Agreed, lintian is crucially important.

What we need is a perl magician willing and able to do the actual lintian
release. Who wants to get blamed for breaking a core tool? :)

Then folks like you and me can help with fixing individual issues and/or
merging MRs.

Thank you for bumping this, we need to get this sorted one way or another.

Severity: wishlist

 Version : 0.1
 Upstream Contact: Matthias Klumpp
 URL : https://github.com/lkhq/laniakea
 License : LGPL-3.0
 Programming Lang: Python
Description : Repository management suite for Debian-based OSes

Laniakea is a software suite to manage Debian derivatives. It provides
tooling to maintain an APT archive (and multiple individual package
repositories), perform QA on it, autobuild packages, and provides
various tools for better insight into the archive, such as web
applications to view archive details, a Matrix bot and a ZeroMQ-based
message bus to plug in custom tooling.

In order to make this useful as a Debian package, quite a bit of
preparation still has to be done upstream, especially some crucial
parts need better documentation, so the project can be used by people
outside its two original Debian derivatives, Tanglu and PureOS. Having
a package for it will make the project a lot more accessible though.
I expect packaging this to take a while, some dependencies like
Mautrix are not yet in Debian, and JavaScript components are always a
pain (fortunately, Laniakea only has few of those).

Packaging will be maintained at https://salsa.debian.org/laniakea-team/laniakea

Cheers,
Matthias

NH3 is an HTML sanitizing library that escapes or strips markup and
attributes based on a white list. NH3 can also linkify text safely,
applying filters that Django's urlize filter cannot, and optionally setting
rel attributes, even on links already in the text.
 .
NH3 is intended for sanitizing text from untrusted sources. If you find
yourself jumping through hoops to allow your site administrators to do lots of
things, you're probably outside the use cases. Either trust those users, or
 don't.

Bleach is deprecated, NH3 is seen a valid successor.

NH3 is neead to package the latest version of 'python-readme-renderer'

I intend to orphan the pstotext package.

The package description is:
pstotext extracts text (in the ISO 8859-1 character set) from a PostScript
or PDF (Portable Document Format) file. Thus, pstotext is similar to the
ps2ascii program that comes with ghostscript. The output of pstotext is
however better than that of ps2ascii, because pstotext deals better with
 punctuation and ligatures.

There is no active upstream, last release was in 2004.

I no longer use the software regularly and recent grave bug #895513 [1]
touches security issues which should be sorted out by someone who is actually
proficient in PostScript.

Anyone considering adopting this package should also consider adopting
and reviving the upstream.
