GRUB is currently maintained collatively by the pkg-grub-devel team, which
is just me and Jason Thomas .

The package is growing both in features and number of users and takes more
work every time. We need more volunteers to participate in GRUB maintainance.

A simple task that would help much is merely lurking at the BTS, testing
patches, sorting out non-bugs, and noticing us when action needs to be taken
(such as adding a patch in new upload, close a bug, etc)

Since this got moved to RFH grub2 and we have people working on it,
having sort of taken over maintenance from Canonical side again as well
as more volunteers I'm going to close this.

Bug#1054647: ITP: asdf-unit-schemas -- ASDF schemas for validating unit tags

2023-10-27 Thread Ole Streicher

Package: wnpp

* Package name: asdf-unit-schemas
  Version : 0.1.0
  Upstream Author : The ASDF Developers
* URL : https://github.com/asdf-format/asdf-unit-schemas
* License : BSD-3-Clause
  Programming Lang: Python
  Description : ASDF schemas for validating unit tags

This package provides ASDF schemas for validating unit tags. Users
should not need to install this directly; instead, install an
implementation package such as asdf-astropy, which will include
asdf-unit-schemas as a recommendation. ASDF (Advanced Scientific Data
Format) is a proposed next generation interchange format for scientific
data, mainly used by the Space Telescope Science Institude (STScI).

It is a build dependency of the asdf-astropy package. I will
maintain it within the Debian Astro team in Salsa:

Bug#1054871: ITP: legba -- A fast multi protocol credential bruteforcer/sprayer/enumerator

  Description : A fast multi protocol credential
bruteforcer/sprayer/enumerator

Legba is a multiprotocol credentials bruteforcer / password sprayer
and enumerator built with Rust and the Tokio asynchronous runtime in
order to achieve better performances and stability while consuming
less resources than similar tools.

I plan to maintain this package under the pkg-security[0] and/or rust team[1].

[0] https://tracker.debian.org/teams/pkg-security/
[1] In case it ends up being easier to maintain under the rust team,
due to the way Rust crates are packaged.

Bug#1054885: ITP: libscalar-type-perl -- module to figure out type of a scalar

2023-10-27 Thread gregor herrmann
Package: wnpp
Owner: gregor herrmann
Severity: wishlist
X-Debbugs-CC: debian-de...@lists.debian.org, debian-p...@lists.debian.org

* Package name: libscalar-type-perl
  Version : 0.3.2
  Upstream Author : David Cantrell
* URL : https://metacpan.org/release/Scalar-Type
* License : Artistic or GPL-2
  Programming Lang: Perl
  Description : module to figure out type of a scalar

Perl scalars can be either strings or numbers, and normally you don't really
care which is which as it will do all the necessary type conversions
automagically.

But in some rare cases, generally when you are serialising data, the
difference matters. Scalar::Type provides some useful functions to help you
figure out what's what.

The package will be maintained under the umbrella of the Debian Perl Group.

String::Binary::Interpolation interpolates some random byte into a string:

 use String::Binary::Interpolation;

The module creates a bunch of variables named from $b to $b
and their values are the corresponding characters.

Data::CompactReadonly provides a Compact Read Only Database that consumes
very little memory. Once created a database can not be practically updated
except by re-writing the whole thing. The aim is for random-access read
performance to be on a par with DBM::Deep and for files to be much smaller.
