Bug#898259: RFP: vscode -- Microsoft Visual Studio Code
There is an initiative `vscodium` that builds vscode from source, which seems to be interesting as a base for a Debian package, as it * provides a Debian package * makes an attempt to disable telemetry/tracking by default [2] https://vscodium.com/ https://github.com/VSCodium/vscodium [2] https://github.com/VSCodium/vscodium/blob/master/DOCS.md Additionally there seem to be several archlinux "packaging" efforts, which may or may not offer additional bits an pieces. https://www.archlinux.org/packages/community/x86_64/code/ https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/code-git/ https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/vscodium/ From my perspective there is an interest from Debian users to have a vscodium package. This rewrite cleans up some annoying inconsistencies. I read description of program, and its first sentence is "I decided to not recreate Bash parser". Hey, that is idea! If "foo" is bash function, then "type foo" outputs its body, pretty-printed. So, here is complex example from upstream website: _fn () { for arg ; do done=3; echo done; done } Here is output of "type _fn": _fn is a function _fn () { for arg in "$@"; do done=3; echo done; done } So, we can put script into body of function, and bash would pretty-print it. As one who has made use of various incarnations of the 'arc' program since the 1990s, and as one who has been thinking about adopting the 'arc' package in Debian, I note that the 'arc' package has been in Debian since 2004 while 'arcanist' has only been in Debian since 2015. Therefore 'arcanist' has likely been violating policy since it was brought into Debian. It's also interesting that the popcon for 'arc' (~1000) is some 10 times what 'arcanist' (~100) has, likely because 'arc' is an archiver. I also find it interesting that bug number 919697 was opened on 'arcanist' as 'Serious' back in January about the same problem, noting that "arcanist: file conflict with arc" but was then downgraded to normal the maintainer. So that maintainer could have fixed the problem at least when he uploaded a new version of the 'arcanist' package in February, if he hadn't been aware of the problem until then. -- Robert J. Bug#930761: RFP: PyMuPDF -- python bindings for MuPDF
Hi, I added a number of changes to the packaging repository here: https://salsa.debian.org/python-team/modules/pymupdf I added a bunch of files to Files-Excluded, namely some files that are patched copies from mupdf itself (but we don't need them because we rely on the patched Debian mupdf package) as well as fitz.py and fitz_wrap.c that are autogenerated by SWIG. I also got into more detail with the licenses and added more paragraphs to d/copyright. There is still a question about the overall license because information in `setup.py` and `PKG-INFO` conflicts. I contacted upstream about it. Lastly, I patched `setup.py` to rebuild fitz.py and fitz_wrap.c with SWIG. Sean: since I removed several files from upstreams tarball with Files-Excluded, I also replaced the contents of that git repository with the new version that now doesn't have any of these files. I incorporated your commit but you'll have to clone the repository again. Thanks! cheers, josch signature.asc Description: signature
Bug#930898: ITP: conmon -- OCI container runtime monitor
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: Nicolas Braud-Santoni -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA512 * Package name: conmon Version : 0.3.0 Upstream Author : The github.com/containers authors * URL : https://github.com/containers/conmon * License : Apache-2.0 Programming Lang: C Description : OCI container runtime monitor Conmon is a monitoring program and communication tool between a container manager (like podman or CRI-O) and an OCI runtime (like runc or crun) for a single container. It is a dependency of podman, a root-less container runtime, which I intent to package. Upon being launched, it double-forks to daemonize and detach from the parent that launched it. It then launches the runtime as its child. This allows managing processes to die in the foreground, but still be able to watch over and connect to the child process (the container). While the container runs, conmon does two things: - - Provides a socket for attaching to the container, holding open the container's standard streams and forwarding them over the socket. - - Writes the contents of the container's streams to a log file (or to the systemd journal) so they can be read after the container's death. Finally, upon the containers death, conmon will record its exit time and code to be read by the managing programs. Written in C and designed to have a low memory footprint, conmon is intended to be run by a container managing library. Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: Nicolas Braud-Santoni -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA512 * Package name: podman Version : 1.4.2 Upstream Author : The github.com/containers authors * URL : https://github.com/containers/podman * License : Apache-2.0 Programming Lang: Go Description : Tool for running OCI-based containers At a high level, the scope of libpod and Podman is the following: - - Support multiple image formats including the OCI and Docker image formats. - - Support for multiple means to download images, including trust & image verification. - - Container image management (managing image layers, overlay filesystems, etc). - - Full management of container lifecycle. - - Support for pods to manage groups of containers together. - - Resource isolation of containers and pods. - - Support for a Docker-compatible CLI interface through Podman. - - Integration with CRI-O to share containers and backend code. More notably, it supports running containers without a supporting daemon (though there is an optional one) and without `root` privileges (or any sort of privileged helper). -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- iQJFBAEBCgAvFiEEU7EqA8ZVHYoLJhPE5vmO4pLV7MsFAl0NxhQRHG5pY29vQGRl Ymlhbi5vcmcACgkQ5vmO4pLV7MumHA//a54DLa20VVsKCdDCBl5oFAXKe3KeO44q xhZZY/fXGo++29JhJcGi0wLZHAYllRhtaqNxzabNygXwNsCioZbL3FANr3MRF9rq ZGPfK9ARA4mAbkqRWRLq4N3B/ks1b3usITrkkamTAAmh+K/7N5tMGpP103LyuWjn x1SFRPX5wmJcWfN68gs3iL+F0YZRSS5v2BilAHkGxxjmMfTXpTR0ZPlKvizvtXy3 PAiQa5b5gmFWInlHGWQGawU+I13Ie3Snl8BbeXqWnkA27/VQyRiSEuPSgXrLum83 KwNHUp1oMIEUMgIkw9r6Oi3W0wPyM3Dvl1XYE8Q+u4dIyCqAZYYYJrXAG19X7OF1 j8wih8X0dPwVm8xWL7qBdYfoUtgjHQg8xfjtA0b5K/gVsuRicgEiozJ8j04B1F6G OFpM3zjeeea5bpdjCNa1iacTMa046njvbe+QPVyOJAWNDlZW0c+5gJt/o0HzcNi9 ZRGbh1eIZqbzG32ZKs7fA3KKUvp0I1vr+50VDTMYZ/Q6sVSm8WyyqY2HVlvUe9vH RZYWgLT3F62xkl88kY4TZPzFcN6qTBuZq819KpSqnseONWNwd1zBMAtTHcYzd+XA 1MKUDFstnQloUbse7XwVUDhnURYty7w8oaruEVXAZoCWxGeVuIXWr2gQAuLGBRSS 1ENa8WSz6mk= =I4iK -END PGP SIGNATURE-
Bug#930900: ITP: cni-plugins -- CNI (Container Networking Infrastructure) Plugins
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: Nicolas Braud-Santoni -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA512 * Package name: cni-plugins Version : 0.8.1 Upstream Author : The CNI team * URL : https://github.com/containernetworking/plugins * License : Apache-2.0 Programming Lang: Go Description : CNI (Container Networking Infrastructure) Plugins The official CNI plugins repository contains several types of plugins ### Interfaces - - `bridge`: Creates a bridge, adds the host and the container to it. - - `ipvlan`: Adds an [ipvlan](https://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/networking/ipvlan.txt) interface in the container. - - `loopback`: Set the state of loopback interface to up. - - `macvlan`: Creates a new MAC address, forwards all traffic to that to the container. - - `ptp`: Creates a veth pair. - - `vlan`: Allocates a vlan device. - - `host-device`: Move an already-existing device into a container. ### IPAM: IP Address Management - - `dhcp`: Runs a daemon on the host to make DHCP requests on behalf of the container - - `host-local`: Maintains a local database of allocated IPs - - `static`: Allocate a static IPv4/IPv6 addresses to container and it's useful in debugging purpose. ### Other - - `flannel`: Generates an interface corresponding to a flannel config file - - `tuning`: Tweaks sysctl parameters of an existing interface - - `portmap`: An iptables-based portmapping plugin. Maps ports from the host's address space to the container. - - `bandwidth`: Allows bandwidth-limiting through use of traffic control tbf (ingress/egress). - - `sbr`: A plugin that configures source based routing for an interface (from which it is chained). - - `firewall`: A firewall plugin which uses iptables or firewalld to add rules to allow traffic to/from the container. -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- iQJFBAEBCgAvFiEEU7EqA8ZVHYoLJhPE5vmO4pLV7MsFAl0Nx3sRHG5pY29vQGRl Ymlhbi5vcmcACgkQ5vmO4pLV7MtmqA//T5Qcr29o84rjLVAQ26YMlcYqqqodq/a1 u6VHi3fU7AXOjrVvmQ5SHeYBPCUl3p+/U4pp6PV1lMiVQ4toBOEwznZ02p+2VzBc Cuq0YzDD7naz/ROOR/O/h9zZCfV3+5eOLZ2F0BMfIWWwEn3WTNuxdoIzspmF4m6d N+n0ZBK0UJWRg6/RrhEorTIIm8QkyGRVVba2yOregpborukRXMWa4Z9SflFel+ru E0/3Rsa/mmlOKpG3hkROEchlBYx73oLmbXBS8BnX1yiZlzZQkPq3qLictWZwxc/D kj9x8AELyXY2ly8hQ/7jcqFdx+WRDHEu+T9kA0Nz+utb8AwIVJcESYWYyv3SijDE stz1mJv0EsKAOXQ8+2euVK7YkMIZPLoPOVqQLA6h5/RN67wLeY1qo25UWx/JezcK 1AyqHsO8G06qURSfVBM0avvUVAs4z++EhhUHpFXjSSEuMbUCkQGrwBV5tDu/flQV lvlxomwAgMPagiYf6tfpWceiemWeYiEDl3vfFE3FxT6rE4EnxnNhSU2r6usCAyvF gCkBnnJY4pL/nKzMR3GLEmv5sVNEr2W9ZPDkcchWS0/i1wtXBIh2/a01Gga7+rsF 4XDXaIJki2TXacTjWm+OfTZbRQ1zE10XyEd8JcxX078wliW+FnvlnI6nMjlVJ6ci Y9OgyC0fOLs= =ANyc -END PGP SIGNATURE-
