Bug#909819: ITP: gdspy -- Python module for handling GDSII stream files

2018-09-29 Thread Ruben Undheim
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Ruben Undheim

* Package name: gdspy
  Version : 1.3.1
  Upstream Author : Lucas Heitzmann Gabrielli
* URL : https://github.com/heitzmann/gdspy
* License : Boost-1.0
  Programming Lang: Python
  Description : Python module for handling GDSII stream files

python-gdsii is a Python module that can be used to read, create,
modify and save
GDSII files.
It supports:
- Boolean operations on polygons (AND, OR, NOT, XOR) based on clipping algorithm
- Polygon offset (inward and outward rescaling of polygons)
- Efficient point-in-polygon solutions for large array sets

Gdspy also includes a simple layout viewer.

I plan to maintain it in the Debian Python Modules team.

Bug#909908: ITP: libpam-net -- create/join network namespaces at login

2018-09-29 Thread Daniel Gröber
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Daniel Gröber

* Package name: libpam-net
  Version : 0.1
  Upstream Author : Renzo Davoli, Eduard Caizer University of Bologna

* URL : https://github.com/rd235/libpam-net
* License : GPL2
  Programming Lang: C
  Description : create/join network namespaces at login

 libpam-net allows users to be joined into a network-namespace at login. It
 implements two pam modules:
 .
 - pam_newnet.so: users belonging to the 'newnet' group get a new network
 namespace at login.
 .
 - pam_usernet.so users belonging to the 'usernet' group get their own network
 namespace at login. If a network namespace having the same name as the username
 exists, pam runs the user shell in that namespace. If such a namespace does not
 exist, it is created during the login process.

I belive such functionality does not currently exist in Debian. It can
be quite useful however. For example I use it to have a seperate users
who's network access is always forced though a VPN or Tor.

I have started to package libpam-net here:
https://salsa.debian.org/dxld-guest/libpam-net

I plan on maintaining this package myself, I do not expect this to be
too much work as the it is extremely simple (300 LoC).

I need a sponsor.

  Description : prediction and visualisation of asteroidal occultations

 Observations of stellar occultation by asteroids will make significant
 impact in several areas of astronomy. Observations of these events by
 professional and amateur astronomers are extremly important since thay
 can provide unique information about the size of asteroids and improve
 their orbit elements dramatically.
 .
 LinOccult computes predictions of such occultation of stars by
 asteroids. It also visualises the trajectories of the asteroid's
 shadows on the earth or directs astronomers to future eclipses for
 a given coordinate.

Packaging will be handled openly at the pkg-escience Alioth project.
Comments from astronomers are most welcome.

Description : Set of scripts for make easy the task of cracking hash MD5 SHA1
MYSQLv4 MYSQLv5

Phpmyaudit is a tool for cracking hash as SHA1, MD5, MYSQL v4 and MYSQL v5.
You can store files of many dictionaries, creating a large dictionary
which ensures that no word is repeated, thus saving effort and
processing.
First you feed the database with a lot of words before looking for some hash.
phpmyaudit brings script to help with the treatment of dictionary files:
* setup-mysql: initial script to create database and configuration phpmyaudit.
* filter-dic: allows you to filter a file dictionary, according to the amount
of characters required, because in internet there are many dictionaries with
words of 4 characters which is very unlikely to be passwords.
* split-dic: split a big (more than 2GB) file dictionary, this is important
because these files can crash the PC
* import-dic: Script to import a dictionary file
* phpmyaudit: script to search a hash in the database

* License : BSD
  Programming Lang: C
  Description : Internet Low Bitrate Codec (iLBC) library

Free speech codec suitable for robust voice communication over
IP. The codec is designed for narrow band speech and results in a
payload bit rate of 13.33 kbit/s with an encoding frame length of 30
ms and 15.20 kbps with an encoding length of 20 ms. The iLBC codec
enables graceful speech quality degradation in the case of lost
frames, which occurs in connection with lost or delayed IP
packets. iLBC is specified by RFC 3951.

The iLBC codec from RFC 3951 is "almost free" (source code available,
not DFSG-compatible). It has thus been incorperated in a number of
programs. It has not been very popular recently, but it is still used in
various places (Asterisk, Opal, Yate).

Lately GIPS, who originally wrote the codec, was purchaced by Google.
Later on Google provided an iLBC codec (and some others) as part of the
newly released WebRTC code. That code has no licensing issues, but it
provides a different API. This project provides an API mostly compatible
with the original RFC 3951 codec.

The library will be packaged by the pkg-voip team.
