Bug#907240: ITP: nextpnr -- Portable FPGA place and route tool
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: Ruben Undheim * Package name: nextpnr Version : GIT HEAD Upstream Author : YosysHQ * URL : https://github.com/YosysHQ/nextpnr * License : ISC Programming Lang: C++ Description : Portable FPGA place and route tool This is a place and route tool with GUI for FPGAs. It is closely related to fpga-icestorm and provides similiar functionality as arachne-pnr, but intended to be more general. Upstream is quite active with a number of developers, and it is possible that it may more or less "replace" arachne-pnr in the future. I intend to maintain it in the Debian Electronics team.
Bug#907241: ITP: python-pipdeptree -- display dependency tree of the installed Python 3 packages
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: Andreas Tille * Package name: python-pipdeptree Version : 0.13.0 Upstream Author : Vineet Naik * URL : https://github.com/naiquevin/pipdeptree * License : MIT Programming Lang: Python Description : display dependency tree of the installed Python 3 packages Pipdeptree is a command line utility for displaying the installed python packages in form of a dependency tree. It works for packages installed globally on a machine as well as in a virtualenv. Since pip freeze shows all dependencies as a flat list, finding out which are the top level packages and which packages do they depend on requires some effort. It can also be tedious to resolve conflicting dependencies because pip doesn't yet have true dependency resolution (more on this later). This utility tries to solve this problem. . To some extent, this tool is inspired by lein deps :tree command of Leiningen. Remark: This package is maintained by Debian Med Packaging Team at https://salsa.debian.org/med-team/python-pipdeptree I need to package Python3 as well as Python2 package since it is a predependency for the latest upstream version of python-cobra which has dependencies in both versions.

Bug#907104: O: freecdb -- creating and reading constant databases
Tobias Frost schreef op 2018-08-23 22:34: Package: wnpp The current maintainer of freecdb, Gerrit Pape , is apparently not active anymore. Therefore, I orphan this package now. I take this as an example of the many packages to be orphaned in one go. I looked into it and I see only one minor bug and a few whishlist items. One wishlist item of 2007 contains a patch (.diff) and is not rejected nor adapted, or even acknowledged. I think that is not acceptable. So I can see that measures have to be taken. OTOH the lack of maintenance doesn't pose problems to Debian users, so there seems no need to remove this package from Debian immediately. Doesn't it make more sense to put such packages up for adoption instead of orphaning it? Maybe there is more to it, like superseeded by a better program, low quality, obsoleteness etc. P.S. I would not have made this remarks if it was phrased "Therefore, I orphan this package of low interest to Debian now." Package: wnpp Severity: normal I intend to orphan the perl-doc-html package. The package description is: This is the same documentation as provided by the perl-doc package. Bug#907283: ITP: python-asteval -- minimalistic evaluator of Python 3 expression using ast module
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: Andreas Tille * Package name: python-asteval Version : 0.9.12 Upstream Author : Matthew Newville * URL : https://github.com/newville/asteval * License : MIT Programming Lang: Python Description : minimalistic evaluator of Python 3 expression using ast module ASTEVAL is a safe(ish) evaluator of Python expressions and statements, using Python's ast module. The idea is to provide a simple, safe, and robust miniature mathematical language that can handle user-input. The emphasis here is on mathematical expressions, and so many functions from numpy are imported and used if available. . Many Python lanquage constructs are supported by default, These include slicing, subscripting, list comprehension, conditionals (if-elif-else blocks and if expressions), flow control (for loops, while loops, and try-except-finally blocks). All data are Python objects, and built-in data structures (dictionaries, tuple, lists, numpy arrays, strings) are fully supported by default. . Many of the standard builtin Python functions are available, as are all mathemetical functions from the math module. If the numpy module is installed, many of its functions will also be available. Users can define and run their own functions within the confines of the limitations of asteval. . There are several absences and differences with Python, and asteval is by no means an attempt to reproduce Python with its own ast module. Some of the most important differences and absences are: . * Variable and function symbol names are held in a simple symbol table (a single dictionary), giving a flat namespace. * creating classes is not supported. * importing modules is not supported. * function decorators, yield, lambda, exec, and eval are not supported. * files can only be opened in read-only mode. . In addition, accessing many internal methods and classes of objects is forbidden in order to strengthen asteval against malicious user code. . Remark: This package is maintained by Debian Science Maintainers at https://salsa.debian.org/science-team/python-asteval This package is needed for the latest version of lmfit-py which needs both Python 2 and Python 3 module.
