I think I have a suitable package now, being as cheap as possible, but
it's off your git tree, which I took from

  https://anonscm.debian.org/git/collab-maint/ansible.git

I had to change some things, though:

 * retrofit the docsite directory
 * adjust debian/control
 * adjust debian/rules

It's for 2.4.1, and it's lintian clean. My changes build both packages.

How can I best upload this stuff without disrupting yours, and without
creating an entirely new repository?

TIA!

Cheers,

Bug#767013: ITP: mstpd -- A daemon implementing the RSTP (Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol) protocol for bridges

2017-11-15 Thread Alexandru Ardelean
Hey,

I'm one of the co-maintainers of mstpd.

Initially the project was hosted here:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/mstpd/

Now, it's moved here:
http://github.com/mstpd/mstpd

Even though mstpd's purpose is MSTP, it's not there yet [even today].
It is a good RSTP implementation though, and it is being used in
production in several companies.

We do have in the repo .deb pkg generation:
https://github.com/mstpd/mstpd/tree/master/debian

And our Travis CI script does run a script from travis.debian.net
[ not sure if that's an official page of the Debian project ].
See:
https://github.com/mstpd/mstpd/blob/master/.travis.yml

As far as I can tell:
* we would need a sponsor for some guidance to package mstpd ; I've
never packaged anything for Debian officially
* probably prepare a new release for mstpd that contains all stuff
ready for making it a package in Debian [ compatibility with GCC 7,
maybe force protocol level to RSTP, and let people experiment with
MSTP, etc ]

I'm willing to put in the effort to get this through, if anyone is
willing to guide me through this.

Thanks
Alex

Just push your stuff to a branch "toni/doc" or something, and we'll have a look?
You should have push access to collab-maint anyways.

  Upstream Author : Adrian Perez

* License : GPL-3
  Description : better desktop integration for Riot.im

Revolt is a small application which wraps the Riot.im webapp to provide better
integration with desktop environments in general, and GNOME in particular:

   * Having Riot as a “standalone” application with its own window, launcher,
 icon, etc. instead of it living in a browser tab.
   * Persistent notifications (for desktop environments supporting them, i.e.
 GNOME). Notifications are automatically prevented when the Revolt window
 is focused.
   * Status icon for desktop environment which have a tray bar applet (XFCE,
 Budgie, likely many others).

Riot.im is a chat client for Matrix, an open, federated communications
protocol.

Description-en: Large Scale Machine Learning Toolbox
 SHOGUN - is a new machine learning toolbox with focus on large scale kernel
 methods and especially on Support Vector Machines (SVM) with focus to
 bioinformatics. It provides a generic SVM object interfacing to several
 different SVM implementations. Each of the SVMs can be combined with a variety
 of the many kernels implemented. It can deal with weighted linear combination
 of a number of sub-kernels, each of which not necessarily working on the same
 domain, where an optimal sub-kernel weighting can be learned using Multiple
 Kernel Learning. Apart from SVM 2-class classification and regression
 problems, a number of linear methods like Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA),
 Linear Programming Machine (LPM), (Kernel) Perceptrons and also algorithms to
 train hidden markov models are implemented. The input feature-objects can be
 dense, sparse or strings and of type int/short/double/char and can be
 converted into different feature types. Chains of preprocessors (e.g.
 substracting the mean) can be attached to each feature object allowing for
 on-the-fly pre-processing.
 .
 SHOGUN comes in different flavours, a stand-a-lone version and also with
 interfaces to Matlab(tm), R, Octave, Readline and Python. This package contains
 the static and the modular Python interfaces.

Description-en: Software for Semidefinite Programming
 The DSDP software is a free open source implementation of an interior-point
 method for semidefinite programming. It provides primal and dual solutions,
 exploits low-rank structure and sparsity in the data, and has relatively
 low memory requirements for an interior-point method. It allows feasible
 and infeasible starting points and provides approximate certificates of
 infeasibility when no feasible solution exists. The dual-scaling
 algorithm implemented in this package has a convergence proof and
 worst-case polynomial complexity under mild assumptions on the
 data. Furthermore, the solver offers scalable parallel performance for
 large problems and a well documented interface. Some of the most popular
 applications of semidefinite programming and linear matrix inequalities
 (LMI) are model control, truss topology design, and semidefinite
 relaxations of combinatorial and global optimization problems.

Bug#881851: ITP: cctz -- Library for computing dates, times, and time zones

2017-11-15 Thread Anton Gladky
Package: wnpp

  Description : Library for computing dates, times, and time zones

CCTZ contains two libraries that cooperate with to give C++ programmers
all the necessary tools for computing with dates, times, and time zones in a
simple
and correct manner. The libraries in CCTZ are:

   - The Civil-Time Library — This is a header-only library that supports
computing
 with human-scale time, such as dates (which are represented by the
cctz::civil_day
 class). This library is declared in include/cctz/civil_time.h.
   - The Time-Zone Library — This library uses the IANA time zone database that
is
 installed on the system to convert between absolute time and civil time.
This
 library is declared in include/cctz/time_zone.h.

The library will be maintained under the roof of Debian Science Team.

Bug#881855: ITP: libref-util-xs-perl -- XS implementation for Ref::Util

* Package name: libref-util-xs-perl
  Version : 0.116
  Upstream Author : Sawyer X
* URL : https://metacpan.org/release/Ref-Util-XS
* License : Expat
  Programming Lang: Perl
  Description : XS implementation for Ref::Util

Ref::Util::XS is the XS implementation of Ref::Util, which provides several
functions to help identify references in a more convenient way than the usual
approach of examining the return value of ref.

You should use Ref::Util::XS by installing Ref::Util itself (packaged as
libref-util-perl): If the system doesn't have Recommends turned off, you will
get libref-util-xs-perl automatically. Ref::Util::XS will be used
automatically, providing a significant speed boost to everything that uses
Ref::Util.

See Ref::Util for full documentation of the available functions.

The package will be maintained under the umbrella of the Debian Perl Group.

Bug#835197: RFP: fonts-eosrei-emojione

2017-11-15 Thread Jeremy Bicha
On Sun, Nov 5, 2017 at 11:48 AM, Jeremy Bicha wrote:
> Fedora 27 includes the Noto emoji by default.

I was wrong here. Fedora 27 includes the Emoji One font by default.
Although the Fedora package is currently named eosrei-emojione-fonts,
the font actually comes straight from Emoji One's github and not from
eosrei's github. The font provided by eosrei's github will not work
for the GNOME feature and is also not the version of Emoji One
recommended by Mozilla.

I also found that Ubuntu already packaged fonts-emojione. Like the
Fedora package, it simply installs the pre-compiled ttf. To actually
build fully from source requires pacakging several node-grunt
packages.

On the other hand, Emoji Two isn't yet buildable for the GNOME
feature. The Fedora developers would like to get this figured out
within a year because it's bad to be stuck on an old unmaintained
emoji font when new emoji are still being added to the Standard every
year. One proposal is for it reuse the nototools build system used by
fonts-noto-color-emoji. In that case, we wouldn't need to package the
node packages.

The Emoji One package in Fedora and Ubuntu doesn't support the Mozilla
feature. See https://bugs.debian.org/849602 for more details.

So someone is welcome to work on packaging Emoji One while we wait for
Emoji Two. If someone wants to work on that, I recommend cloning this
bug.

Thanks,
Jeremy Bicha

Bug#881896: RFP: src -- Simple Revision Control, single-file and single-user version tracking

2017-11-15 Thread Mike Swanson
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: src
  Version : 1.17
  Upstream Author : Eric S. Raymond
* URL : http://www.catb.org/esr/src/
* License : BSD
  Programming Lang: Python
  Description : Simple Revision Control, single-file and single-user
version tracking

Provides a powerful modern user interface against an RCS or SCCS backend
(RCS is more reliable and preferred), giving a command line familiarity
to users with modern Subversion, Git, Hg experience, as well as a
reasonable introduction to this toolset to novices.

SRC is designed to provide its strength for single-file, single-user
version tracking. When it is overkill to make a whole directory and
multi-file repository store (under, for example, Git or Hg), src can

* Package name: periodictable
  Version : 1.5.0
  Upstream Author : Paul Kienzle
* URL : http://www.reflectometry.org/danse/elements.html
* License : Public Domain
  Programming Lang: Python
  Description : a periodic table of the elements

 This package provides a periodic table of the elements with support
 for mass, density and xray/neutron scattering information.
 .
 Masses, densities and natural abundances come from the NIST Physics
 Laboratory, but do not represent a critical evaluation by NIST
 scientists.
 .
 Neutron scattering calculations use values collected by the Atomic
 Institute of the Austrian Universities. These values do corresponding
 to those from other packages, though there are some differences
 depending to the tables used. Bound coherent neutron scattering for
 gold in particular is significantly different from older value:
 7.63(6) as measured in 1974 compared to 7.90(7) as measured in 1990.
 .
 X-ray scattering calculations use a combination of empirical and
 theoretical values from the LBL Center for X-ray Optics. These values
 differ from those given in other sources such as the International
 Tables for Crystallography, Volume C, and so may give different
 results from other packages.

This python package is a prequisite for SasView (ITP#879812)

It will be maintained under Debian Science.

  Description : data fitting and Bayesian uncertainty modeling for inverse
problems

 Bumps is a set of routines for curve fitting and uncertainty analysis
 from a Bayesian perspective. In addition to traditional optimizers
 which search for the best minimum they can find in the search space,
 bumps provides uncertainty analysis which explores all viable minima
 and finds confidence intervals on the parameters based on uncertainty
 in the measured values. Bumps has been used for systems of up to 100
 parameters with tight constraints on the parameters. Full uncertainty
 analysis requires hundreds of thousands of function evaluations,
 which is only feasible for cheap functions, systems with many
 processors, or lots of patience.
 .
 Bumps includes several traditional local optimizers such as
 Nelder-Mead simplex, BFGS and differential evolution. Bumps
 uncertainty analysis uses Markov chain Monte Carlo to explore the
 parameter space. Although it was created for curve fitting problems,
 Bumps can explore any probability density function, such as those
 defined by PyMC. In particular, the bumps uncertainty analysis works
 well with correlated parameters.
 .
 Bumps can be used as a library within your own applications, or as a
 framework for fitting, complete with a graphical user interface to
 manage your models.

bumps is a prerequisite for SasView, ITP#879812
