Bug#836330: PGObject:Util::DBChange Debian packaging.

2016-12-18 Thread Robert J. Clay
Erik,

   I'd thought that this one had also been updated but I'm not seeing a
newer version on CPAN.
   Also, I still see an issue with the content of git repo for this module

Bug#848546: RFA: gtkperf -- GTK+ performance benchmark

2016-12-18 Thread Evgeni Golov
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

Ohai,

I request an adopter for the gtkperf package.

The package description is:
 GtkPerf is an application designed to test GTK+ performance.
 The point is to create common testing platform to run predefined
 GTK+ widgets (opening comboboxes, toggling buttons, scrolling text)
 and this way define the speed of device/platform.

The package is in reasonable shape, but did not see an upload since 2009.
Upstream is not active anymore either (last release 2005).

Bug#848547: RFA: u3-tool -- tool for controlling the special features of a U3 USB flash disk

2016-12-18 Thread Evgeni Golov
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

Ohai,

I request an adoption of u3-tool, as I do not have any U3 capable devices
and no need for the tool anymore.

package description is:
 Tool for controlling USB flash devices that conform to the U3 specifications.
 You can do the following with your U3 flash:
  * Replace the CD image
  * Change the size of the virtual CD or completely remove it
  * Enable and disable security
  * Unlock and change the password of secured U3 device
  * Obtain various device information

The package is in OKish state, but needs porting to newer libusb.
Upstream seems to have a new release in SVN, but there are no tarballs?!

Regards
Evgeni

Is there any blockers for this? gulp-util is the only other remaining

Bug#848560: ITP: asterisk-opus -- opus module for Asterisk

2016-12-18 Thread Jonas Smedegaard
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Jonas Smedegaard

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA256

* Package name: asterisk-opus
  Version : 13.7+20161113
  Upstream Author : Lorenzo Miniero
* URL : https://github.com/traud/asterisk-opus
* License : GPL-2
  Programming Lang: C
  Description : opus module for Asterisk

 Module for the Asterisk open source PBX which allows you to use the
 Opus audio codec.
 .
 Opus is the default audio codec in WebRTC. WebRTC is available in
 Asterisk via SIP over WebSockets (WSS). Nevertheless, Opus can be used
 for other transports (UDP, TCP, TLS) as well. Opus supersedes previous
 codecs like CELT and SiLK. Furthermore in favor of Opus, other
 open-source audio codecs are no longer developed, like Speex, iSAC,
 iLBC, and Siren. If you use your Asterisk as a back-to-back user agent
 (B2BUA) and you transcode between various audio codecs, one should
 enable Opus for future compatibility.
 .
 Opus is not only supported for pass-through but can be transcoded as
 well. This allows you to translate to/from other audio codecs like
 those for landline telephones (ISDN: G.711; DECT: G.726-32; and HD:
 G.722) or mobile phones (GSM, AMR, AMR-WB, 3GPP EVS).

Opus module is currently included as a patch to Asterisk itself, but
that complicates security tracking (see bug#847666), and same codebase
has recently grown support for building out-of-tree as well.

This package will be maintained in the VoIP team.

Bug#732141: Status of this RFP

Hi Jakob,

On Friday, 16 December 2016 12:23:15 AM AEDT Jakob Haufe wrote:

Actually I pretty much completed the packaging by the time I've submitted RFP
bug. :)

> glabels and would thus be interested in having zint packaged for Debian.

Great! It is very nice to see that someone other than myself would like to
introduce Zint to Debian. Zint's RFP failed to attract any interest for three
years but finally here you are. ;)

> Right now, [1] seems to be active and is also referenced from [2].

I see... There is a new release...

> So my question is: Do you plan to maintain zint in Debian,

Alone - no; with co-maintainer(s) - yes.

> do you want help

Yes, always.

> or do you want someone else to take over?

I don't mind that either. I think RFP makes it fairly obvious that nobody is
working on Zint at the moment and that anyone if free/welcome to take over.

Three years ago I did not introduce Zint because I thought I might be the
only one who needed it. Also there was a new fork on GitHub and it was
uncertain which project will be maintained [1]. Also Zint was quite dormant
for a long time so I had doubts if it is worth uploading...

Now packaging needs some work (hopefully not too much) and new upstream
version might be suitable for upload... I might have a look...

Description-en: Convert any file, including binary, into 5 letter code
 Codegroup converts any file, of any format including raw binary,
 into a set of five letter uppercase codegroups.
 The codegroup format includes a 16 bit CRC and file length to verify
 message integrity.
 Codegroup does NO CRYPTO. It's purely a file format converter
 much like base64 or uuencoding.
 Unlike other traditional file encoding algorithms such as
 base64 or uuencoding, codegroup exclusively uses the 26
 letter alphabet.
 Codegroup is ideal for transferring short binary files over a voice
 or morse code channel.

Bug#706656: [3dprinter-general] Bug#706656: ITP: cura -- Controller for 3D printers

2016-12-18 Thread Gregor Riepl

Hi Alvaro,

I'm sorry it took me this long to start reviewing your work. I was about to
try to build your packages but I haven't been able to figure out how to do it.
How do you build your packages? Do you use git-buildpackage? I'm missing a
branch named "upstream" or something similar. A typical branch layout is
briefly explained here https://wiki.debian.org/3D-printer/gbp.

Sorry about that.

I wasn't very happy with the defaults that gbp assumes, so I named the
branches a bit differently. IMHO, "master" should be the upstream branch, not
the debian build branch. I also removed all the upstream branches from my
repository, so those need to be fetched separately.

This is what you can use to build a certain version:

# or Uranium or CuraEngine or Cura
PACKAGE=libArcus
VERSION=2.1.3
git clone https://github.com/UltiMaker/$PACKAGE
cd $PACKAGE
git remote add onitake https://github.com/onitake/$PACKAGE
git fetch --all
git checkout debian-$VERSION
debian/rules clean
gbp buildpackage --git-upstream-branch=master
--git-debian-branch=debian-$VERSION --git-upstream-tree=$VERSION

Please note that some of the packages have build dependencies on each other,
so you need to build libArcus and Uranium first.

Bas requested that I also submit to Debian Mentors, so you can find signed
source packages here:

https://mentors.debian.net/packages/uploader/onit...@gmail.com

Thanks for reviewing them!
Greg

I am resuming the packaging work for this library.

I plan to update the packaging for current practices, and make a new
Debian release soon of the existing packaged version.

Newer upstream versions have considerably more dependencies, most of
which are not in Debian, so packaging a later upstream version will
need some more time.

  Description : Official Perl client for Elasticsearch

Search::Elasticsearch is the official Perl client for
Elasticsearch, supported by elasticsearch.com.

Elasticsearch itself is a flexible and powerful open
source, distributed real-time search and analytics engine
for the cloud. You can read more about it on elastic.co.

Dependency for libcatmandu-store-elasticsearch-perl (ITP bug
to come). The Koha Free Software Integrated Library System
(http://koha-community.org) will use it to support indexing in
Elasticsearch.

I will maintain the package as part of my role as Packaging
Manger for the Koha community.

This will be my first package for Debian. I need a sponsor.

  Description : Compositing "3D" window manager

 From https://launchpad.net/~compiz-team :
 .
 Compiz is an OpenGL compositing manager that use
 GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap for binding redirected top-level windows
 to texture objects. It has a flexible plug-in system and it is
 designed to run well on most graphics hardware.
 .
 Okay, this description isn’t really meaningful. In a nutshell, Compiz
 is a compositing manager, which means that it enhances the overall user
 interaction by adding fancy effects to your windows, from drop shadows
 to awesome desktop effects like the Desktop Cube or the Expo view.
 Compiz can also be a window manager, which means that it is the
 software between you and your desktop apps. It enables you to move or
 resize windows, to switch workspaces, to switch windows easily (using
 alt-tab or so), and so on.

A quick update: this first upload got automatically rejected because of
differences in Debian & Ubuntu multi-arch implementations. A re-upload
as -2, without multi-arch bits, was accepted by ftpmaster:

even if an RC bug was filed right away so that the copyright file would
receive an update before the package is allowed in testing:
  https://bugs.debian.org/848545

I think I've addressed most if not all copyright issues with the recent
-3 upload:
  https://tracker.debian.org/news/824918

The package also FTBFS on armel/armhf, which I filed for reference as:
  https://bugs.debian.org/848617

There's still work to be done, but compiz is now back in unstable, which
should be a nice first step for a wider adoption as an accessibility
tool; thanks should go to the Hypra company who funded my work in this
area.

Cheers,

Bug#848627: RFA: aseprite

2016-12-18 Thread Tobias Hansen
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

The license of Aseprite was changed to a non-free license starting from version
1.1.8. See [1] for more background. I do not use Aseprite myself and have not
much motivation for maintaining a package that the author is not happy with.

There is already a GPL fork at [2]. If someone wants to take over the package
to track this or another fork, let me know. Otherwise I might ask for removal
of the package from unstable after the stretch release.

 Package retry provides a framework for retrying actions. It does not

This package will be maintained as part of the pkg-go team.

Bug#848630: RFP: cappsule -- hypervisor which virtualizes any software on-the-fly into lightweight VMs

2016-12-18 Thread Antoine Beaupré
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: cappsule
  Version : 1.0?
  Upstream Author : Quarkslab
* URL : https://cappsule.github.io/
* License : GPL-2(+?)
  Programming Lang: C
  Description : hypervisor which virtualizes any software on-the-fly into
lightweight VMs

Cappsule is a new kind of hypervisor developed by Quarkslab. Its goal
is to virtualize any software on the fly (e.g. web browser, office
suite, media player) into lightweight VMs called cappsules. Attacks
are confined inside cappsules and therefore don’t have any impact on
the host OS. Applications don’t need to be repackaged, and their usage
remain the same for the end user: it’s completely
transparent. Moreover, the OS doesn’t need to be reinstalled nor
modified.

Basically, it protects computers against remote software attacks and
makes the assumption that the hardware isn’t backdoored. If this
assumption doesn’t fulfil your expectation or if you’re concerned
about physical attacks, Qubes OS might be a better choice.

--

I am not sure I would package this myself just yet, but it could be
interesting to see where this goes. I am worried about such reviews
from a usability perspective:

https://distrowatch.com/weekly.php?issue=20161219#cappsule

There are .deb packages here:

https://cappsule.github.io/download/

 but they seem to have serious issues, according to the review..

Source code is on the usual github silo.
