Bug#840822: RFP: ruby-middleman -- Build static websites with an easy-to-use framework

2016-10-15 Thread Aidan Gauland
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: ruby-middleman
  Version : 4.1.10
  Upstream Author : Thomas Reynolds
* URL : https://middlemanapp.com/
* License : MIT
  Programming Lang: Ruby
Description : Build static websites with an easy-to-use framework

Middleman is a Ruby framework for building static websites with HTML-templating
languages, compiled-to-CSS languages such as Sass, and compiled-to-JavaScript
languages such as CoffeeScript. It is somewhat similar to the Python framework
Jekyll.

I think this would be useful to have packaged for Debian for greater stability
over installing via rubygems.org (which in my experience with fraught with
peril). Packaging this for Debian will require packaging some other Ruby
"gems", as it built on top of Padrino , which is not
already in Debian.

It is a widely-used framework
, and has at least
one Debian user (myself).

https://ftp-master.debian.org/new/krita_1:3.0.1+dfsg-1.html

Due to BD-missing in ports architecture for calligra 2.9 [1], the old
calligra 2.8 still has leftovers.

What would happen if krita 3.x gets accepted into experimental while
old calligra-owned krita still exists? :p

Anyway I also hope that this problem can be solved soon and we get
krita 3.x into stretch.

There is not so much traffic in there, don't worry ;)

* Package name: uftrace

  Upstream Author : Namhyung Kim

* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: C
Description : Traces and analyzes execution of programs written in C/C++

The uftrace tool is intended for tracing and analyzing the execution of
programs written in C or C++. It was heavily inspired by the ftrace
framework of the Linux kernel (especially the function graph tracer) and
supports userspace programs. It supports various kinds of commands and
filters to help analysis of the program's execution and performance.

It traces each function in the executable and shows time durations. It
can also trace external library calls - but only entry and exit are
supported, and internal function calls within the library cannot be
traced unless the library itself was built with profiling enabled.

It can show detailed execution flow at function level, and report which
function has the highest overhead. It also shows various information
related to the execution environment.

You can setup filters to exclude or include specific functions when
tracing. In addition, function arguments and return values can be saved
and shown later.

The uftrace tool supports multi-process and/or multi-threaded
applications. It can also trace kernel functions as well, with root
privileges and if the system enables the function graph tracer in the
kernel (CONFIG_FUNCTION_GRAPH_TRACER=y).

 - why is this package useful/relevant? is it a dependency for
another package? do you use it? if there are other packages
providing similar functionality, how does it compare?

Cachegrind provides similar functionality, but only provides information
in aggregate, whereas uftrace will collect the entire stack and provide
pretty output for visualization. It is more of a "tracer" than a
sample-and-aggregate tool. Intel has a profiler called VTune(tm)
Amplifier which also fills a related niche, but it is not free software.

 - how do you plan to maintain it? inside a packaging team
(check list at https://wiki.debian.org/Teams)? are you
looking for co-maintainers? do you need a sponsor?

Should be simple enough to self-maintain. No sponsor needed. I'm on
LowThresholdNmu.

Description : Lua Access Control Engine

Lace is an access control engine written in Lua which implements a squid-like
ACL system for Lua programs to use in controlling access to resources.

Lace provides a parser of rulesets and an engine to execute the parsed
rulesets. It relies on the calling application to provide access
control types and then Lace runs the boolean logic and returns an
allow/deny result along with the location of the decision and any
description provided by it.

Lace is part of the dependencies for Gitano which I am trying to get
packaged and into Stretch.

Initially I shall be maintaining the package myself, but I do have
two possible assistants lined up.

Description : Git Abstraction Layer for Lua

Gall is a Git abstraction layer for Lua which implements a set of Lua objects
which can interact with git repositories (via libgit2 where possible).

Gall allows a Lua program to examine refs and objects, and to fully create
git commits without needing to create a working tree on disk.

Gall is part of the set of packages which are the dependencies of Gitano
which I am working toward packaging for Stretch.

Initially I shall maintain the package, but I have one or two potential
assistants, neither of which are DDs or DMs (yet).

Description-en: Command line audio file player with time stretching capabilities
Yatm (Yet Another Time Machine) is a very simple command line audio player.
Its main purpose is to play audio files at a different tempo while retaining
the original sounds pitch. This is very useful for listening to audiobooks
at a slightly higher speed than they were originally recorded with. It can
also be helpful when listening to musical passages at a slower speed to
be able to distinguish the different notes more easily.
 .
Changing the pitch while keeping the tempo is also supported. Musical
cents and semitones can be used to specify pitch change. This makes it
easy to use for musicians. The notes you have are in G but the recording
you'd like to play along with is in F? No problem, transpose the recording
up two semitones. You'd like to play along with this baroque recording
that uses original pitch? Just tune the music up about 80 cents and you
 should be fine.

Description-en: GNU a2ps - 'Anything to PostScript' converter and pretty-printer
GNU a2ps converts files into PostScript for printing or viewing. It uses a
nice default format, usually two pages on each physical page, borders
surrounding pages, headers with useful information (page number, printing
date, file name or supplied header), line numbering, symbol substitution
as well as pretty printing for a wide range of programming languages.
 .
Historically, a2ps started as a text to PostScript converter, but thanks
to powerful delegations it is able to let you use it for any kind of files,
ie it can also digest manual pages, dvi files, texinfo,
 .
Among the other most noticeable features of a2ps are:
  - various encodings (all the Latins and others),
  - various fonts (automatic font downloading),
  - various medias,
  - various printer interfaces,
  - various output styles,
  - various programming languages,
  - various helping applications,
  - and various spoken languages.

Bug#840890: O: prosper -- LaTeX class for writing transparencies

2016-10-15 Thread Tobias Frost
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

The current maintainer of prosper, Masayuki Hatta (mhatta) ,
is apparently not active anymore. Therefore, I orphan this package now.

Maintaining a package requires time and skills. Please only adopt this
package if you will have enough time and attention to work on it.

If you want to be the new maintainer, please see
https://www.debian.org/devel/wnpp/index.html#howto-o for detailed
instructions how to adopt a package properly.

Bug#840633: Maintain with pkg-go?

2016-10-15 Thread Alexandre Viau
Hello :)

Thank you for packaging golang-github-retailnext-hllpp.

It looks like the maintainer is set to Sipwise Development Team. Would
you consider to maintain this package in collaboration with the Go
Packaging team instead?

If you do, I would like that you take some time to read the following:

Here are some things that you could do:

- Create a git repository in our Alioth team and commit your work,
according to the team's guidelines (use dh-make-golang!)

- Leave the changelog to UNRELEASED

- Point me to the repository, asking for review: I will review, build
the package, upload and then tag the repository.

dh-make-golang does things that helps with consistency across the team,
such as the gbp.conf file that ensures pristine-tar is used.

This is how I will test the build of your package:
 - gbp clone git.debian.org:/git/pkg-go/packages/
 - cd
 - gbp buildpackage --git-pbuilder

Cheers,

Description : Lua I18N library 'Tongue'

Tongue is an internationalisation engine written in Lua which implements a
hierarchical language pack system for Lua programs to use in localising
messages into and out of themselves.

This package is a dependency of Gitano which I am trying to get packaged
into Stretch. This is the last dependency which needs adding to Debian
as far as I can tell, before Gitano can go in.

I will be maintaining the package myself to begin with; though I do have
two potentially interested others for co-maintenance.

Description : an API for creating parsers in JavaScript

Jison generates bottom-up parsers in JavaScript. Its API is similar to
Bison's, hence the name. It supports many of Bison's major features,
plus some of its own. If you are new to parser generators such as
Bison, and Context-free Grammars in general, a good introduction is
found in the Bison manual. If you already know Bison, Jison should be
 easy to pickup.
 .
Briefly, Jison takes a JSON encoded grammar or Bison style grammar and
outputs a JavaScript file capable of parsing the language described by
that grammar. You can then use the generated script to parse inputs
and accept, reject, or perform actions based on the input.

Package is needed to generate coffeescript from its true source
(currently it builds itself from pre-built code).

Package will be maintained in the Javascript Maintainers Team.
