My immediate thought was "how does this differ to shunit2", which is
already packaged. You mention this later:

It would be nice to expand on this a little, to help make the case that
we need another shell unit testing framework (especially since shunit2
works for other shells too!)

Objectivity is very important here IMHO. What are your motivations for packaging
it in Debian? Is it a build-dependency for something else, or are you looking
for
a "signal boost" to raise the profile of bash-unit?

What does "enterprise edition" stand for there?

I mean, in me, it provokes certain allusions (of "open core" products
etc) which are supposedly false given the indicated license, which
brings the next question of is those words are really needed?

Bug#839741: O: webkit2pdf

2016-10-04 Thread Ricardo Mones
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

Orphaned because I don't really have much time to maintain this one,
ideal for a new maintainer to exercise packaging cleanup and update.

Package is simple and upstream is friendly but mostly inactive. Seems
unlikely to have a new release soon.

The libwebkitgtk¹ removal is the main concern for package survival.
Has been forwarded upstream, but no response so far.

Enjoy,

The upstream page of commonmark-bkrs [1] says that it is deprecated in favour
of CommonMark-py by ReadTheDocs team [2].

I would prefer that you packaged the new version instead.

Unfortunately since the last mail to the ITP bug I have had very little
time (and am unlikely to have much for at least the next week), so it
hasn't progressed beyond my last message. However, within the caveats I
noted it should be at least workable.

If you have time to advance things in the meanwhile, by all means do so
(especially since it isn't my ITP bug in any case).

libpcapnav is a libpcap wrapper library that allows navigation to arbitrary
locations in a tcpdump trace file between reads.

This library was developed into Netdude project and was packaged in Debian to
support Netdude. However, the Netdude was abandoned and can't be packaged
because is over GLib1. So, I am leaving this package.

Bug#658886: Removing proll from Debian?

2016-10-04 Thread Adrian Bunk
Hi,

proll is a JavaStation PROM replacement.

JavaStations are 32bit, so not supported by the new sparc64 port.
The old 32bit sparc port has already been remved from Debian.

Guillem mentions in #658886 that QEMU once used to use proll
(but didn't anymore in 2012?).

Am I right that proll is no longer of use for anyone and should be
removed from unstable, or are there any usecases left?

cu

Bug#839786: RFP: homeassistant -- home automation platform running on Python 3

2016-10-04 Thread Dara Adib
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: homeassistant
  Version : 0.29.26
  Upstream Author : Paulus Schoutsen
* URL : https://home-assistant.io/
* License : MIT
  Programming Lang: Python 3, JavaScript
Description : home automation platform running on Python 3

Home Assistant is a home automation platform running on Python 3. The
goal of Home Assistant is to be able to track and control all devices
at home and offer a platform for automating control.

Its main dependencies (python3-jinja2, python3-pip, python3-requests,
python3-tz, python3-voluptuous, python3-yaml) are already in sid,
though install_requires currently contains "voluptuous==0.9.2", which
would be slightly relaxed, and "typing>=3,<4", which is part of the
Python 3.5 standard library in sid.

If there is interest, I'd be happy to work on a package and
(co-)maintain, but I need help with properly packaging the frontend
static files:
https://github.com/home-assistant/home-assistant/tree/dev/homeassistant/components/frontend/www_static

The static files include fonts-roboto, minified JavaScript, and gziped
files. It looks like these are generated from git submodules and
third-party npm packages and then checked in for convenience:
https://github.com/home-assistant/home-assistant/blob/dev/script/build_frontend

Hello Gordon,

I can see that your package libjs-jquery-typeahead [1] is ready; I mean,
I can git-buildpackage it in a schroot environment (but I can hardly say more).

Please, can you bring it to Debian ASAP ?

Thanks in advance,
Jerome

Bug#782654: Bug#838416: ITP: bazel -- Fast and correct automated build system by Google

Unfortunately, there's more work than just "packaging" Bazel. Just to
package Bazel, the open issues are:
  (1) Getting Bazel's dependencies packaged in Debian, with acceptable versions.
  (2) Fixing the Bazel build process to use Debian JAR files, rather
than pre-built versions shipped with Bazel.
  (3) Fixing the Bazel build process to comply with Debian policy
around static linking and self-extracting binaries.

But... even with that, Bazel cannot be used to _build_ a Debian
package, because it does not create Debian-policy-compliant binaries,
and it does not support all the Debian cross-compiler flags. In order
to fix that, a bunch more integration work is needed, including
rewriting the Bazel "architecture specs" to use Debian architecture
names or tuples instead, and to fix the built-in rules to properly
support fully-dynamic linking and library installation paths.

So, yeah, it's a lot of work, and I haven't really had time to make
much progress.

Cheers,
Kyle Moffett

"enterprise edition framework for professionals" stands for sarcastic
marketing.
Ben Hutchings already asked me to remove that since, smiley included: "Debian
package descriptions are supposed to be straightforward and boring. :-)"

What does "enterprise edition" stand for there?

I mean, in me, it provokes certain allusions (of "open core" products
etc) which are supposedly false given the indicated license, which
brings the next question of is those words are really needed?
