Hi Benjamin,

I would prefer the following way:

1) Jurko, the maintainer of suds-jurko, was offered, that his package
could take over the name from original suds on Pypi. He didn't make use of
this offer so far. That would have been a good starting point to use suds-jurko
(then suds) as a drop-in for current suds. As this is not the case I would
indeed prefer to keep the projects resp. packages separate. As the package must
go through NEW anyway for Python 3 support, this is the cleaner way to get
suds-jurko into the archive.
Could you please coordinate with Lionel, who prepared already an initial
separate suds-jurko package [0]?
Please let me know ASAP to inform Rdepends about the new package to prevent
evtl. unneeded work on their side (or do that yourself).

2) Please add Provides and Conflicts with python-suds (as done by Lionel). As
soon as suds-jurko will hit unstable I will add the Conflicts to python-suds and
change the package description to hint to your package.

3) Rdpends of python-suds will be informed to update their Depends to
python*-suds-jurko.

4) python-suds will be removed from the archive before the release of stretch.

Is this OK for you?

Hello!

I have found in a network the application which is the manager of .deb-
packets for graphic environment KDE.
Project objective Muon — to become convenient and multifunctional graphic
means of operation with software packages.
The developer of project Jonathan Thomas [ echidna...@gmail.com ] ,among the
main possibilities already implemented in the manager of packets Muon Among
the main possibilities already implemented in the manager of packets Muon
marks:

- Powerful and intuitive enough interface;
- Fast and exact search of packets with index usage apt-xapian and retrieval
algorithm Synaptic;
- Support of a filtration of packets under the status and a category;
- Support of change of carriers (with repositories);
- Support of adjustment of packets by means of system debconf;
- The prohibition of setting "doubtful" (untrusted) packets or an output of
appropriate warnings (depending on adjustments APT);
- Usage PolicyKit for performance of the actions demanding raised privileges;
- Correct passage in a waiting mode in load time, setting and removals of
packets;
- Support last ChangeLog for a package;
- Screenshots of packets.

Screenshots with Muon are in operation published in a blog of the developer

http://jontheechidna.wordpress.com/2010/07/05/introducing-qapt-and-the-muon-
package-manager/

Packets with the first versions Muon for Kubuntu can be found on launchpad.net.

https://edge.launchpad.net/~echidnaman/+archive/qapt/

I very much would want that this application was supported by community debian
and was in debian repository.

Last summer, Piotr Galiszewski took part in GSOC with a project called
"Aptitude Qt". As he wrote in the Benefits to Debian section, "There is
currently no good Qt-based package manager for Debian. There were Adept some
time ago , but now it has been abandoned project. On the other hand KPackegeKit
is not suitable for debian-based distributions and is not designed for advanced
users. This will give KDE Debian users the same level of package management
experience as Gnome users have" (http://wiki.debian.org/SummerOfCode2010
/Aptitude-Qt/PiotrGaliszewski). Unfortunately, it seems the project isn't going
to be released any time soon, and its development status is somewhat difficult
to retrieve.

There's another author who believes that "PackageKit is fundamentally flawed".
He adds that "QApt gets rid of one level of complexity/abstraction code-wise,
meaning that there is less unnecessary machinery that can go wrong, and an
increased level of integration. PackageKit is the jack of all trades, but a
master of none.
Compared to KPackageKit’s app-install offerings, the Muon Installer is a lot
faster at listing and searching through applications since QApt is a much
tighter wrap around APT itself". He is Jonathan Thomas, Kubuntu developer.

In the author's own words, "Muon is a powerful package manager for Debian-based
systems, with a focus on having a sane UI". Not only that, but it has become a
complete suite as of lately, the Muon Package Management Suite, comprising:
- The Muon Package Manager: hardcore package management with a sane GUI.
- The Muon Updater: an update manager.
- The Muon Software Center: an application-centric GUI designed for ease-of-use
(so that anybody can search for and install applications without being bothered
about “packages”).

I feel this is a great opportunity for Debian to finally adopt a solid,
complete, QT-based solution for package management.

I would much prefer to use suds-jurko as drop-in replacement for our
current suds, because

* suds-jurko is a fork that does not break the API
* the original suds upstream is dead
* the original suds could reclaim the namespace if upstream was becoming
active again
* rdepends don't have to change anything

IMO it makes no sense to rename the Debian binary package to
python-suds-jurko when you still run "import suds" ins

  Description : Fortran Libraries for NetCDF (network Common Data Form)

NetCDF (network Common Data Form) is an interface for scientific
data access and a freely-distributed software library that provides an
implementation of the interface. The netCDF library also defines a
machine-independent format for representing scientific data.
Together, the interface, library, and format support the creation,
access, and sharing of scientific data.

This package contains the Fortran shared library.

The netcdf package used to contain C, C++ and Fortran libraries. The
latest netcdf tarball now contains only the C library, and the C++
and Fortran libraries are released individually. As there are quite a few
reverse dependencies of all three libraries, we need to package all three
and do a coordinated transition.

This package as well as the C and C++ libraries will be maintained
within the Debian GIS Team.

Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I am looking for a new maintainer for libmongo-client (both Debian and
upstream, but they do not have to be the same person). It is an
alternative C language driver for the MongoDB NoSQL database, used by
both rsyslog and syslog-ng for their respective MongoDB supporting
modules.

The library and the packaging is - I believe - in reasonably good
shape. The reason for RFA-ing is that I do not use neither the
library, nor MongoDB anymore, but there are a fair number of users of
it who deserve better maintenance than what I can provide.

Description of the main package follows:

Description-en: Alternate C driver for the MongoDB document-oriented datastore
 MongoDB is a high-performance, open source, schema-free
 document-oriented data store.
 .
 This library provides an alternative C language driver, focusing on
 stability, ease of use, striving to make the most common use cases as
 convenient as possible.
 .
 Among its features are:
 .
   * Well documented, easy, clean and stable API.
   * Support for asynchronous operation.
   * ReplicaSet support, with support for automatic reconnecting and
   discovery.
   * Safe-mode support, to optionally enable extra safety checks on
   writes.

If interested, either in upstream or Debian maintenance, please
contact me.

 Backup tool for btrfs volumes, using a configuration file, allows
 creation of backups from multiple sources to multiple destinations at
 once, with ssh and configurable retention support
 (daily/weekly/monthly).

Packaging is almost done already by upstream who will also maintain the
beast.

Bug#791801: O: apt-p2p -- apt helper for peer-to-peer downloads of Debian packages

2015-07-08 Thread Mattia Rizzolo
Package: wnpp

This package is de-facto orphaned, with the last maintainer upload in 2010, one
NMU and 2 QA upload in the meantime. So filing the appropriate bug here too.

This is a native package, so it'd need an upstream maintainer too.

The long description of the package is:

Description: apt helper for peer-to-peer downloads of Debian packages
 Apt-P2P is a helper for downloading Debian packages files with APT.
 It will download any needed files from other Apt-P2P peers in a
 peer-to-peer manner, and so reduce the strain on the Debian mirrors.
 .
 The Apt-P2P daemon runs automatically on startup and listens for
 requests from APT for files, as well as maintaining membership in a
 Distributed Hash Table (DHT). For any files which have a hash
 available (most files), peers that have the file are looked for in the
 DHT. The file can then be downloaded from them, using the uploading
 bandwidth of other peers while reducing the demand on the Debian mirror
 network. However, if a package can not be found on any peers, Apt-P2P
 will fall back to downloading from a mirror to ensure all packages are
 downloaded. Once downloaded, the file is hash checked and added to the
 DHT so that other peers can download it without the mirror.
 .
 The configuration is very simple, and only involves prepending
 'localhost' and the port to your current sources.list lines (similar
 to other apt-proxy-like software).

  Description : C++ library for Groebner basis computation

Mathic is a C++ library of fast data structures designed for use in Groebner
basis computation. This includes data structures for ordering S-pairs,
performing divisor queries and ordering polynomial terms during polynomial
reduction.

With Mathic you get to use highly optimized code with little effort so that you
can focus more of your time on whatever part of your Groebner basis
implementation that you are interested in. The data structures use templates
to allow you to use them with whatever representation of monomials/terms and
coefficients that your code uses. In fact the only places where Mathic defines
its own monomials/terms is in the test code and example code. Currently only
dense representations of terms/monomials are suitable since Mathic will
frequently ask "what is the exponent of variable number x in this
term/monomial?".

The paper "Practical Grobner Basis Computation" describes the data structures
from a high level. It was presented at ISSAC 2012 and is available at
http://arxiv.org/abs/1206.6940

 Pretty-print tabular data in Python, a library and a command-line utility.
 The main use cases of the library are:
  - printing small tables without hassle: just one function call, formatting is
guided by the data itself
  - authoring tabular data for lightweight plain-text markup: multiple output
formats suitable for further editing or transformation
  - readable presentation of mixed textual and numeric data: smart column
alignment, configurable number formatting, alignment by a decimal point

 Python’s standard library is great until you need a sorted container type. Many
 will attest that you can get really far without one, but the moment you really
 need a sorted list, dict, or set, you’re faced with a dozen different
 implementations, most using C-extensions without great documentation and
 benchmarking.

  Description : Python graph (network) package

 altgraph is a fork of graphlib: a graph (network) package for constructing
 graphs, BFS and DFS traversals, topological sort, shortest paths, etc. with
 graphviz output.
 .
 altgraph includes some additional usage of Python 2.6+ features and
 enhancements related to modulegraph and macholib.

This package is a prerequisite for "python-macholib" (ITP:#790898).
I intend to maintain this package under the python-modules-team umbrella.

  Description : High performance HTTP request router for Go that
scales well

 HttpRouter (github.com/julienschmidt/httprouter) is a lightweight high
 performance HTTP request router (also called multiplexer or just mux
 for short) for Go.
 .
 In contrast to the default mux of Go's net/http package, this router
 supports variables in the routing pattern and matches against the
 request method. It also scales better.
 .
 The router is optimized for high performance and a small memory
 footprint. It scales well even with very long paths and a large number
 of routes. A compressing dynamic trie (radix tree) structure is used
 for efficient matching.

  Upstream Author : Nicolas Grasset

https://github.com/fellowshipofone/django-celery-transactions
* License : BSD-2-clause
  Programming Lang: Python
  Description : Django transaction support for Celery tasks

 django-celery-transactions holds on to Celery tasks until the current database
 transaction is committed, avoiding potential race conditions as described in
 Celery's user guide.

 Features:
  * If the transaction is rolled back, the tasks are discarded. Django's
transaction middleware does this if an exception is raised.
  * If transactions aren't being managed, tasks are sent as normal. This means
that sending tasks from within Django's shell will work as expected, as
will the various transaction decorators commit_manually, commit_on_success,
etc.

  Description : library for XML/JSON RPC using the Tornado framework

 This library is an implementation of both the JSON-RPC and the XML-RPC
 specification (server-side) for the Tornado web framework. It supports the
 basic features of both, as well as the MultiCall / Batch support for both
 specifications. The JSON-RPC handler supports both the original 1.0
 specification, as well as the new (proposed) 2.0 spec, which includes batch
 submission, keyword arguments, etc.
 .
 There is also a base library that other RPC protocols could use to quickly get
 tied into Tornado.

Test::Deep::Type provides the sub is_type to indicate that the data being
tested must validate against the passed type. This is an actual type object,
not a string name -- for example something provided via MooseX::Types, or a
plain old coderef that returns a bool (such as what might be used in a Moo
type constraint).

*Description : wgsim simulates sequencing reads from a reference genome.

Wgsim is a small tool for simulating sequence reads from a reference genome.
It is able to simulate diploid genomes with SNPs and insertion/deletion (INDEL)
polymorphisms, and simulate reads with uniform substitution sequencing errors.
It does not generate INDEL sequencing errors, but this can be partly
compensated by simulating INDEL polymorphisms.

Bug#791855: RFP: old-default-image-style-extension -- restore default image style used for top-level images in Iceweasel

  Version : 3.0.6
  Upstream Author : Dagger
* URL :

* License : MPL-1.1
  Programming Lang: JavaScript
  Description : restore default image style used for top-level images in
Iceweasel

Bug 376997[*] added a stylesheet to top-level images that forces the
background to black and centers the image. This extension removes the
stylesheet, returning the background to your configured default and
removing the centering.

There are also options for setting a custom background color or a
checkerboard background, and for re-centering the image and removing the
margin, so if you prefer some different combination of styles you can
set that too.

Bug#791857: ITP: daemonize -- tool to run a command as a daemon

2015-07-08 Thread Sandro Tosi
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Sandro Tosi

* Package name: daemonize
  Version : 1.7.6
  Upstream Author : Brian Clapper, b...@clapper.org
* URL : http://software.clapper.org/daemonize/
* License : BSD
  Programming Lang: C
  Description : tool to run a command as a daemon

 As defined in W. Richard Stevens’ 1990 book, UNIX Network Programming
 (Addison-Wesley, 1990), a daemon is “a process that executes ‘in the
 background’ i.e., without an associated terminal or login shell) either
 waiting for some event to occur, or waiting to perform some specified task on a
 periodic basis.” Upon startup, a typical daemon program will:
 .
 * Close all open file descriptors (especially standard input, standard output
   and standard error)
 * Change its working directory to the root filesystem, to ensure that it
doesn’t tie up another filesystem and prevent it from being unmounted
 * Reset its umask value
 * Run in the background (i.e., fork)
 * Disassociate from its process group (usually a shell), to insulate itself
   from signals (such as HUP) sent to the process group
 * Ignore all terminal I/O signals
 * Disassociate from the control terminal (and take steps not to reacquire one)
 * Handle any SIGCLD signals
 .
 Most programs that are designed to be run as daemons do that work for
 themselves. However, you’ll occasionally run across one that does not. When
 you must run a daemon program that does not properly make itself into a true
 Unix daemon, you can use daemonize to force it to run as a true daemon.

  Description : lightweight Linux console locking tool

physlock is an alternative to vlock, it is equivalent to `vlock
-an'. It is written because vlock blocks some Linux kernel
mechanisms like hibernate and suspend and can therefore only be
used with some limitations. physlock is designed to be more
lightweight and it does not have a plugin interface.

Does this have any advantage over start-stop-daemon?

Bug#788539:

2015-07-08 Thread lumin
I'm still working on this package.

https://github.com/BVLC/caffe/issues/2601

The packaging work is available at the temp repo:
http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/users/cdluminate-guest/caffe.git
it passes my local build and the core component works, but is still
under heavy development.
