It may be possible to abstract this sort of function into a shared package, but IMHO the shared code between them would be very small, and discrete packages for each targeted project would be better for maintenance. Perhaps in postinst I can read in /etc/default/grub-finnix, check if FINNIX_ISO is set, and if not, mention that it must be configured from /etc/default/grub-finnix. It seems that libnfc won't be available in Debian in the near future. Until a few months ago I was maintaining libnfc packages in a Launchpad PPA. https://launchpad.net/~jdthood/+archive/nfc I could adopt your changes and update the packages in that PPA.
