Hello,

In the past I have sponsored the acct package.
The actual maintainer is in my opionion not active enough to maintain
a package in Debian properly and does not respond to my emails/reports.
So I request a RFA for this package.

If you want to take care of this package, you may also private mail me,
if you need a sponsor.

Bug#505924: cwm

2012-10-27 Thread James McDonald
Hi Nicholas,

Finally found some time to implement these changes!

That might depend on which software you're using. For example, xterm will only
support select-to-copy, middleclick-to-paste whereas eg gnome-terminal supports
copy and paste in the Gnome/KDE fashion as well. The window manager itself
doesn't restrict this but I know I've had similar frustrations mixing apps from
different toolkits.

That's interesting. I haven't had a chance to experiment with LXDE but that
does sound like something else in its session is trapping key bindings.

Getting access to collab-maint would be great. I have actually pushed my
changes to github at https://github.com/jamesmcdonald/cwm/tree/v5.1-debian but
I've still not set it up to use git-buildpackage. It's really just so I can
track my own changes at this point. I intend to set cwm up for git-based builds
in the future, even if just so I can learn how to do that.

I've investigated several other window managers and it looks like they don't
make any recommendation/suggestion about having X itself installed. They only
recommend associated projects, like metacity recommends gnome-session. On that
basis, I should probably omit this.

In theory it should be possible to use it like that. Unfortunately it depends
on the restrictions imposed by the environment (LXDE, Gnome etc). I shall set
up a machine to experiment with this, but I guess it will be a while before I
have any coherent documentation. I agree that it would be nice to be able to
provide some tips for this sort of usage. Do you feel this is necessary before
the package is uploaded?

> Anyway the package seems to do what it says on the tin. So I think there

I've uploaded the latest version to mentors; here's a log from git of the
changes I've made:

Fixed double spaces in package description.
Changed debhelper dependency from >=9.0.0 to >=9
Removed references to 9wm from the package description.
Added Provides: x-window-manager
Added scripts to handle x-window-manager alternative

Please let me know what you think.

Cheers,
James

Bug#691624: ITP: dput-ng -- next generation Debian package upload tool

2012-10-27 Thread Arno Töll
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: "Arno Töll"

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Arno Töll
thanks
* Package name: dput-ng
  Version : 1.0.0
Upstream Author : Arno Töll , Paul Tagliamonte

* URL : http://people.debian.org/~paultag/dput-ng
* License : GPL-2+
  Programming Lang: Python
Description : next generation Debian package upload tool

dput-ng is a Debian package upload tool which provides an easy to use inter-
face to Debian (like) package archive hosting facilities. It allows anyone who
works with Debian packages to upload their work to a remote service, including
Debian's ftp-master, mentors.debian.net, Launchpad or other package hosting
facilities for Debian package maintainers.

dput-ng features many enhancements over dput, such as more comprehensive
checks, an easy to use plugin system, and code designed to handle the numerous
archives that any Debian package hacker will interact with.

dput-ng aims to be backwards compatible with dput in command-line flags,
configuration files, and expected behavior.

Informal part in case someone is curious:

Everyone interested can look at our work at
http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=collab-maint/dputng.git. As of today
dpdput-ng is ready to use for early adotors. Users should beware, this first
version is just barely feature complete, so it's recommended for use by those
who wish to provide early feedback or testing. That being said, the authors are
running this on a daily basis, and most features in both dput and dcut have
been tested in production. Problems are infrequent, but may cause breakage in
these early stages. Having that said, we are not aware of any serious problem,
and it can be used right away for most use cases Documentation on dput can be
found in the -doc package built from this source, or at http://dput.rtfd.org/

Finally, as always: Contributions and suggestions are extremely welcome.

Highlights:

* Compatibility with dput.cf configuration files ("old style configuration")
* A new extremely flexible configuration format permitting inheritance of
profiles
* Pluggable interface for third party pre- and post-upload checks
* A public Python API for those who want to embed dput in their own code
* A detached user interface for a future dput GUI
* Pluggable dcut command support (DM permission handling integrated!)
* Support for SFTP uploader and SHA256 checksums
* We avoid common and open issues with dput (old), including but not limited to
the absence of hardcoded paths for commands, checking distribution mismatches,
  and more.

Limitations:

* We do not support all dput (old) configuration flags, most notable we do not
have support for progress indication (yet) and we do not support run_dinstall
(we believe this is barely used anymore these days but relies on SSH scraping
  instead)
* We do not support "method = rsync" uploads (relies on SSH scraping
  again)
* A few other options are not supported because they are superseded by (in our
opinion) superior replacements * Command line options from dcut differ to the
  original

Here's where I left off:

http://ghostfirth.com/flex-sdk.tar.gz

There are multiple versions for different Flex SDK releases. They built
from Adobe's binary distributions since Adobe's sources wouldn't build on
Linux. That made the package in this state only suitable for inclusion in
non-free, IIRC.

Bug#646377:

2012-10-27 Thread David Bate
Unfortunately, progress has been slow recently... I have not been able
to devote as much time to this as I would like.

Current status - I have the required updated packages of the
darkplaces engine and fteqcc and a first package of d0-blind-id on my
machine. I am currently in the process of packaging the game data
and, for this, packaging q3map2, the map compiler used for xonotic.

I am not sure how long this will take me but I think I should have
more time available for it soon... Any help is appreciated :).

David

It may be a week or more before I can get round to looking at it. But as
said before I don't think there are any major issues preventing upload.

Bug#660826: RFP: Elasticsearch -- Distributed, RESTful, Search Engine built on top of Apache Lucene

2012-10-27 Thread Nicholas Robinson-Wall
> I would love to see Elasticsearch in Debian. I'm not sure how package
> maintenance will be done, since they build .deb packages as well.

I make heavy use of Elasticsearch at work and would like to see a package
in Debian as well. The upstream .deb is generated by Maven using jdeb
and is consequently full of lintian warnings and errors.

> I would volunteer for maintaining the package

As would I. Are you still interested in maintaining, or even comaintaining?

I plan on looking at the feasibility of a proper (non-jdeb) package for this
shortly, and changing this to an ITP if it looks doable. Involving upstream in
some capacity might also be advisable, given their obvious interest in
providing Debian support.

Regards,
Nicholas Robinson-Wall

Bug#690707:

2012-10-27 Thread Tom Lee
Alright, I've submitted a pull request upstream with the pkg-config
and CMake config files:

https://github.com/redis/hiredis/pull/129

Note that I've modified the location to which the cmake config file is
installed: /usr/share/cmake/Modules/FindHiredis.cmake by default (on
Debian, this will wind up being something like
/usr/share/cmake-2.8/Modules/FindHiredis.cmake). Our current scripts
install it to /usr/share/cmake/hiredis/hiredis-config.cmake.

I did it this way so it will automatically get picked up by CMake's
find_package macro. Makes the integration a little nicer. I intend to
port that over for our existing set of packaging stuff later this
weekend too.

Anyway, let me know if you need anything more from me in relation to
the adoption "bug". :)
