Bug#690905: freedoom: Prboom Plus should be used instead of Prboom
Am 23.10.2012 22:34, schrieb Jon Dowland: Ah yes, that's right. Since prboom updates so infrequently, I guess that code has not been exercised in years. I should probably adapt it into a "get-orig-source" debian/rules rule. Actually we should probably rebuild prboom.wad upon every package build, just to make sure the code doesn't rot further. That sounds like a very good idea. A few weeks ago we have implemented something similar for the funguloids package, which also needed to get its data file rebuilt (not for DFSG-related reasons but because of compatibility issues with ogre). The result is in pkg-games SVN and currently stuck in the NEW queue. The downside is, we'd have a lot more Build-Depends: deutex, sng, imagemagick, gsfonts-x11 and freedoom. And the latter depends on "boom-engine", so we might get stuck in a circular Build-Depends. :/ - Fabian -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-wnpp-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#644433: ITP: blogofile -- Static website compiler and blog engine
Status-Update: During the last 12 month I didn't spend as much time as I planned on blogofile primarily. In the beginning of the year upstream was quit stuck and finally the original Author Ryan McGuire declares in March 2012 that he stopped working on blogofile. Luckily in May 2012 Doug Latornell stated that he will work on the future of blogofile. So I stopped my packaging work and decided to wait and see how the new upstream would evolve. On the 14th of Oktober 2012 Blogofile 0.8b1 was released. Great! Unfortunately I lost a bit of interest in packaging blogofile for Debian. I'm still around but please don't expect to much in the near future. So if there is somebody out there who would like to step in and is motivated to do the packaging work please get in touch with me. I would gladly help during the first steps and hand over the packaging repo on alioth and accordingly this ITP bug. If you only looking for a static website generator, hyde was packaged in the meantime and is available in wheeze: http://packages.qa.debian.org/h/hyde.html Cheers, Andreas -- Andreas Rütten andreasruet...@gmx.de 4096R: 0x6C9DFFB2 / 8394 99DA 59BD BCE2 3FC8 3A9E 6633 0089 6C9D FFB2 signature.asc Description: PGP signature
Bug#691349: ITP: libopencm3 -- firmware library for ARM Cortex-M3 and similar microcontrollers
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: chrysn * Package name: libopencm3 Version : not released yet Upstream Author : Uwe Hermann , Piotr Esden-Tempski and others * URL : http://libopencm3.org/ * License : LGPL-3+ Programming Lang: C Description : firmware library for ARM Cortex-M3 and similar microcontrollers libopencm3 (formerly libopenstm32) provides the basic library functions for programming ARM Cortex M-3 microcontrollers. These tend to have around up to 128k RAM and 1024k flash ROM, and onoboard peripherials like SPI, UARTs, USB and general purpose IO (GPIO) pins. The library contains drivers for the common core chip functionality (turning on and off interrupts, managing the systick timer) and for the individual chips. * * * the debian branch i'm keeping in the upstream git repo at [1] is functional in the sense that libopencm3 can be used from the installed package, but has several shortcomings: * it depends on something to provide arm-none-eabi-gcc and an appropriate libc (eg newlibc). currently, i'm using a popular script to download, compile and install the required toolchain: summon-arm-toolchain[2] (by the libopencm3 authors), for which i wrote a little debian directory[3] -- in that form, it's pretty inacceptable as a debian package, though. * it feels strange to have compiled binaries (statically linked libraries) in an "architecture: all" package -- but seems technically correct. (things were different if there was a debian port to those chips, but only few of them support running linux at all). * loads of lintian warnings, many about files at strange locations. upstream installs to /usr/arm-none-eabi/{lib,include}, which is in line with what the gcc used is expecting. * some essential packaging stuff is missing (copyright and watch file, the latter for lack of a release process, which is just being discussed on the project mailing list) -- can fix that myself, it's just lower priority than getting everything to build in the first place * examples are not installed yet -- can fix that myself too so what i'd need in order to complete that package is: * an idea of how to create an arm-none-eabi-gcc package properly. my gut feeling says that the gcc-4.[67] packages should build another binary package called gcc-4.[67]-arm-none-eabi, similar to gcc-4.6-hppa64. i'm not familiar with how gcc actually works, so i wonder whether we could have a gcc-4.7-multiarch just like we have binutils-multiarch (which works well for libopencm3). same goes for gdb (not depended on, but more "essential" than "useful" to developers) * a packaged newlibc; given how libstdc++ is integrated with gcc, i don't know whether that's separate from the above or not. * a statement on where things should actually go. /usr/share feels just as wrong as "architecture: any" feels, and lintian complains about /usr/arm-none-eabi/. i'd like to emphasise that (from my understanding) this is neither related to multiarch nor to emdebian, both of which are dealing with cross compilation to other debian architectures, and this is about bare metal programming. Bug#544930: Adopting package xtux
Hi Daniel, i just saw you're going to adopt xtux. It's quite funny because i wanted to suggest to remove xtux from Debian. It has been dead upstream for a very long time and it is quite outdated. On Wed, 24. Oct 15:52 "S. Daniel Francis" wrote: >I could guess it hasn't got a lot of dependencies, so I saw it as an easy >way to start. I think will be better if I look for adopt another package. Hi Daniel, You are right. The best way to start contributing to Debian is to work on orphaned packages. I've been doing the same for two months now, so i'm still a beginner myself. I just wanted to adopt etw. It's another orphaned game, outdated yes, but i guess it's much more interesting than xtux. Maybe you should take a look at it? Someone has to fix all these lintian warnings and i think it is not too complicated. If you are interested you could also join the Debian Games Team. Every help is welcome. But there are a lot of other packages which need a helping hand, too. Of course you are free to decide what you would like to work on. Best, Markus signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Bug#691383: ITP: szg -- Fast command line calculator
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Dear Debian Developers, I intend to create a new package with the following details: Package name: szg Version : 1.0-1 Upstream Author : SZABÓ Gergely URL : http://github.com/subogero/szg License : WTFPL Section : math szg already has a few ecstatic users. I have a deb package repo for it, but I think it deserves real Debianization. I also went through the command line calculators in the math section, and szg still has has some unique features. Instead of arbitrary precisions it concentrates on ease of use. It takes the desktop calculator workflow (first operand can be omitted) one step further, so every missing operand is substituted with the last result. Example: reciprocals On most calculators there is a special key or function for it. If not, it becomes extremely cumbersome. In szg, you just type "1/" and Return. There are actually 3 precision modes: unsigned int, int and float. Decimal, octal, hex and binary formats are also supported.
