Bug#609047: Preliminary Debian packaging for Clozure Common Lisp (ccl.clozure.com)
Hi! Please Send any mail also directly to me if you're interested in my Input as I'm not reading -mentors regularly and pkg-common-lisp-devel@ is -- it appears -- not getting enough of my attention to see your messages in time. Faheem Mitha writes: > 1) I'd like to take over the outstanding ITP for CCL (#609047, > cc'd). It needs to be done once you have a package ready on mentors.debian.net > 2) The main outstanding issue is how to handle the bootstrapping > issue, namely that CCL is not in Debian, but requires CCL to compile. For sbcl I do bootstrapping with a crossbuild from another architecture .. building just a non-packaged version and using that to bring up the package. Once there is a version in the archive everything works automatically. So ideally I can build the first package with a locally installed ccl (e.g. in /usr/local/bin, ..). sbcl's debian/rules has some magic now to do this (and the last commit is totally messed up :-( I guess bootstrapping only needs to be done once and later versions of ccl can be built using the version that is then included in Debian? > 3) My current package description for the package is > 4) Debian requires a copyright statement, which is located in the > "copyright" file in the repository. It is extremely precise and slow. Neurons are modelled by Hodgkin-Huxley equations (conductance- and rate-based); available synapses are those described in Rall (1967) and Destexhe et al (1994). All neuron and synapse parameters are per-unit configurable. A 6-5-order Runge-Kutta integration method is used to compute state variables with arbitrary time resolution. CNrun can import/merge network topology from a NeuroML files, or create one using a simple scripting language. Simulation progress can be saved, per unit, to separate csv files for analysis; for visualisation, state variables can be saved in native double format (for faster plotting with gnuplot). pgpBqASVFWuBD.pgp Description: PGP signature --- End Message --- --- Begin Message --- Source: cnrun Source-Version: 1.1.12-1 We believe that the bug you reported is fixed in the latest version of cnrun, which is due to be installed in the Debian FTP archive. Simulation progress can be saved, per unit, to separate csv files for analysis; for visualisation, state variables can be saved in native double format (for faster plotting with gnuplot). pgpMLeKhPh4au.pgp Description: PGP signature --- End Message --- --- Begin Message --- Source: cnrun Source-Version: 1.1.13-1 We believe that the bug you reported is fixed in the latest version of cnrun, which is due to be installed in the Debian FTP archive. Bug#459219: android-tools packaging
Hi Marcin, Adnan, I think this ITP should be several ones. One for command like tools like adb , one for Eclipse plugin and one for the emulator at least. ATM Adnan's work is great. I'm a DD and just changed bits in his packaging to be perfect. I think it should be uploaded (ie, the android-tools package). Most users will need only adb and fastboot. The other parts can be packaged later. Would you let me file an ITP for android-tools and upload it? I've set myself as the maintainer and Adnan as uploader. With StoryMaps children can easily create their own stories: selecting the plot cards with the story cards, creating a story map and writting their own story using a text editor. Once finished, the application can be used to export the story into HTML format. I am interested in packaging this Java application and already have preliminary packages (very draft form) available at http://people.debian.org/~jfs/storymaps/ I'm in conversation with the author in order to get his program into Debian. Before packaging, the following things have to occur: - License has to be clarified: a general license file is missing as well as license headers in source code files - Associated Java libraries have to be packaged too, this includes: + Piccolo, http://code.google.com/p/piccolo2d/, which would solve RFP #579093 + FreMarker, http://freemarker.sourceforge.net/ Both of these libraries are free software (new BSD and LGPL respectively) so packaging them should not be an issue. Although the method is developed using transient protein-protein interfaces from complexes of experimentally known 3D structures, it never explicitly uses 3D information. Instead, we combine predicted structural features with evolutionary information. The strongest predictions of the method reached over 90% accuracy in a cross-validation experiment. Our results suggest that despite the significant diversity in the nature of protein-protein interactions, they all share common basic principles and that these principles are identifiable from sequence alone. --- End Message --- --- Begin Message --- Source: profisis Source-Version: 1.0.11-1 We believe that the bug you reported is fixed in the latest version of profisis, which is due to be installed in the Debian FTP archive. PROFbval was trained on a sequence unique set of high-resolution protein structures from the PDB. The mobility of a given residue on the protein surface is related to its functional role. A common measure of atom mobility in proteins is B-value data from x-ray crystallography structures. PROFbval is a method predicting backbone B-values from amino- acid sequence. PROFbval can be useful for both protein structure and function predictions. For instance, a biologist can locate potentially antigenic determinants by identifying the most flexible residues on the protein surface. Additionally, a crystallographer can locate residues that potentially have high experimental B-values. --- End Message --- --- Begin Message --- Source: profbval Source-Version: 1.0.22-1 We believe that the bug you reported is fixed in the latest version of profbval, which is due to be installed in the Debian FTP archive. NORSnet was trained on predicted information rather than on experimental data. Therefore, it was optimized on a large data, which is not biased by today's experimental means of capturing disorder. Thus, NORSnet reached into regions in sequence space that are not covered by the specialized disorder predictors. In more sophisticated enterprise storage environments, management with Device Mapper (dm), Logical Volume Manager (LVM), or Multiple Devices (md) is becoming increasingly more difficult. With file systems added to the mix, the number of tools needed to configure and manage storage has grown so large that it is simply not user friendly. With so many options for a system administrator to consider, the opportunity for errors and problems is large. . The btrfs administration tools have shown us that storage management can be simplified, and we are working to bring that ease of use to Linux file systems in general. . You should install the ssm if you need to manage your storage with various technologies via a single unified interface. --- End Message --- --- Begin Message --- Source: system-storage-manager Source-Version: 0.2-1 We believe that the bug you reported is fixed in the latest version of system-storage-manager, which is due to be installed in the Debian FTP archive. Bug#609047: Preliminary Debian packaging for Clozure Common Lisp (ccl.clozure.com)
Hi Christoph, Thank you for your response. Feedback from members of Debian's Common Lisp team is always helpful. On Tue, 14 Aug 2012, Christoph Egger wrote: Hi! Please Send any mail also directly to me if you're interested in my Input as I'm not reading -mentors regularly and pkg-common-lisp-devel@ is -- it appears -- not getting enough of my attention to see your messages in time. Ok, I'll do that. Faheem Mitha writes: 1) I'd like to take over the outstanding ITP for CCL (#609047, cc'd). I've written to Darren Ho, the creator of this ITP, on 1st July 2012, (see http://bugs.debian.org/609047), but have not yet received a reply. What else do I need to do, if anything? Send a mail to the bug report explaining that you'll take over and set yourself as the owner of the bug. Done. I guess I need to get a sponsor at some point. When should this happen? It needs to be done once you have a package ready on mentors.debian.net Ok. I should be able to upload to mentors soon. 2) The main outstanding issue is how to handle the bootstrapping issue, namely that CCL is not in Debian, but requires CCL to compile. For sbcl I do bootstrapping with a crossbuild from another architecture .. building just a non-packaged version and using that to bring up the package. Once there is a version in the archive everything works automatically. So ideally I can build the first package with a locally installed ccl (e.g. in /usr/local/bin, ..). sbcl's debian/rules has some magic now to do this (and the last commit is totally messed up :-( Could one just use upstream binaries instead? CCL has upstream binaries available, which I use to initially build my Debian package, for at least i386 and amd64. My package currently does not attempt to build on any other architecture, because I can't test it. I guess bootstrapping only needs to be done once and later versions of ccl can be built using the version that is then included in Debian? Well this is precisely my question to the CCL developers. So far, I have not got a response. See the thread http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.lisp.openmcl.devel/8046 I'm copied you on my most recent message to that thread. If you don't want me to CC you, let me know. 3) My current package description for the package is 4) Debian requires a copyright statement, which is located in the "copyright" file in the repository. On installation it is installed in /usr/share/doc/pkgname/copyright. Here is the current text, taken from the openmcl package that was in Debian a few years ago. ### OpenMCL is licensed under ... CCL? I've fixed that. Thanks. As mentioned elsewhere, my Debian CCL packaging is at https://bitbucket.org/faheem/ccl-debian You may want to glance at https://bitbucket.org/faheem/ccl-debian/src/tip/README.source which goes into some detail about my current build strategy.
