Bug#678100: ITP: salome-{kernel,gui,med,geom,paravis,..} -- integration platform for numerical simulation

2012-06-19 Thread Julien Cristau
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Julien Cristau

* Package name: salome-{kernel,gui,med,geom,paravis,..}
  Version : 6.5.0
  Upstream Author : CEA, EDF R&D, Open CASCADE
* URL : http://www.salome-platform.org/
* License : mostly LGPL
  Programming Lang: C++, Python
  Description : integration platform for numerical simulation

 Salomé is a pre- and post-processor for numerical simulations. It can
 import CAD files in IGES and STEP formats, facilitates component
 integration in heterogeneous systems, and has a user-friendly GUI as
 well as a Python console with all of the platform functionality.

An earlier version used to be in sid as the 'salome' source package, but
was removed early this year. I'm planning on reintroducing it in
smaller pieces in the hope it'll be more manageable.

Cheers,
Julien

Good luck! It's a beast =)

Did you see http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=657433 ?

Adam said he did push the latest packaging to alioth.

I have enough beasts on my list to package, so this time around I won't
be able to help much (not that I did help much last time around).

Hello,

I would like to adopt coinor-cbc with Christophe-Marie Duquesne
(CC'ed). The short term plan is to pick Vincent Legout's patch for RC
bug #669522 and if time constraints allow it, package the latest
upstream version (2.7.7).

Thank you for maintaining this package, and have a nice day !

Hi,

I'm worried that on the home page, it's written:
"This package is not maintained"

also, the package is marked as quality "beta" and there has been no
upstream release since end of 2009.

Sure, there's the PEAR QA team, but still, it'd be quite risky. So, if
you don't mind me asking: for what reason do you need php-mail-mbox? I
don't mind maintaining the package, but will you maintain upstream code?

Also, I'd like to point out that there's "debpear" now in Debian which I
created, and which is using pkg-php-tools. It does some magic! :)

apt-get install debpear
wget http://download.pear.php.net/package/Mail_Mbox-0.6.3.tgz
debpear -t Mail_Mbox-0.6.3.tgz -pv 0.6.3 Mail_Mbox

then look at what magically appears in the build-area folder! :)

Note that most of the time, simply calling "debpear Mail_Mbox" is
enough, but not this time, as the package is set as beta in pear.php.net.

Anyway, that's how I first create PEAR packages, then I check the
copyright, and sometimes (like for this package), add PHPUnit unit
testings. There's often few tweaks, like here, the long description
didn't seem good enough, but that's mostly it.

Please test the result:

Vcs-Browser: http://git.debian.org/?p=pkg-php/php-mail-mbox.git
Vcs-Git: http://git.debian.org/git/pkg-php/php-mail-mbox.git

Let me know if it does what you expected, and if the package is usable
(I didn't test it...), and let me know if you need me to upload this
(and for what reason you do need it as said above),

Cheers,

Thomas Goirand (zigo)

I had a look at svn://sourceware.org/svn/prelink/trunk

And yes it is not much activity there but latest is in April 2012 so it is not
forgotten :) .

Maybe we can contact the one and only prelink developer Jakub Jelinek

As said elsewhere, there was already an ITP, and even an RFS. However, I
seem to recall having a look at this library, and running away
screaming. I believe it was done as part of reviewing something that
depended on it, I'm not quite sure anymore..

Nevertheless, I would still like to ask: why? Does anything depend on
this, any potential users that couldn't use something simpler? (There's
another ini parsing library, also in C, in about 100 lines of code
instead of 1500, that does pretty much everything this one does, and is
far less scary.)

Bug#617296: Any Progress with RStudio?

2012-06-19 Thread Benj. Mako Hill
Any progress to report on getting RStudio in Debian? The software has
a full debian/ directory and well functioning debs available on the
website so I wonder what the hold up is. If we think its unlikely that
others will get to it, mayb ewe can switch it back to an RFP or I can
help look into doing the upload.

In any case, the software is great and some people I'm working with
are using it extensively. I'd love to know if I could help!

I packaged it because OwnCloud depends on it.

I am not a C developer, but I agree that at first glance, any library
without a proper install system (ie. autotools, cmake, or even scons)
sucks.
The explaination from the author is that one has to edit the Makefile
to suit their distribution.

Bug#678168: ITP: python-astropy -- Core functionality for performing astronomy and astrophysics with Python

2012-06-19 Thread Ole Streicher

Owner: Ole Streicher

* Package name: python-astropy

  Description : core functionality for performing astronomy and
astrophysics with Python.

The astropy package (alternatively known as the “core” package) contains
various classes, utilities, and a packaging framework intended to
provide commonly-used astronomy tools. It is expected to be extended by
a number of "affilated packages" that are intended to work with the core
package.

The current release is a developer preview.

actually want to maintain it :).

There is a lightweight notification daemon called dunst which depends on
this. I’m going to file an ITP for that soonish:

Dear all,
this software is the freeware version of a proprietary software.
So, the source code is not available.
Anyway, I think this is one of the best multi-database softwares available,
so I would like to go on and create a package for it.

Do you think this is a good idea?

In the case, I will need some suggestions about packaging Java apps.

Thank you.

VoID is a data description vocabulary, which is a de facto standard
defined in a W3C Interest Group note, see http://www.w3.org/TR/void/ .
This module takes an RDF model object as input to the constructor, and
based on the data in that model as well as data supplied by the user,
it creates a new model with a VoID description of the data in the
model.

It is an important part of the Linked Data stack.

Ah, OwnCloud! That was it. Or, as I recall, csync, for which a patch

I see. Wouldn't it be a better idea to replace the iniparser dependency
of dunst with something saner? :)

I'm willing to submit a patch to replace iniparser with inih[1],
anything to keep iniparser out of Debian, as that thing is the poster
child of brokenness.

OCaml-RSS is a small OCaml library providing functions to parse and print RSS
2.0 files. The parser can also parse some RDF files, but some fields are not
taken into account. There is still some work to do (add missing RSS 2.0
attributes, add convenient functions).

OCaml-RSS was previously part of Cameleon but is now developed separately
and is findlib compatible.

  Description : GTK+ TI Z80 calculator emulator
 TilEm is an emulator and debugger for Texas Instruments' Z80-based graphing
 calculators. It can emulate any of the following calculator models:
  * TI-73 / TI-73 Explorer
  * TI-76.fr
  * TI-81

work
 correctly.

 TilEm runs on the X Window System on GNU/Linux and other Unix-like platforms,
 as well as on Microsoft Windows, and any other platform supported by the GTK+
 library. In addition to the emulation, TilEm 2 provide a lot of extra
features,
 such as:
  * Fully featured debugger
  * Grabbing screenshots and recording gif (animations)
  * Virtual linking (through libticables)
  * Flash writing and erasing
  * Application and OS loading
