Bug#648341: Bug #648341: ITA: abiword -- efficient, featureful word processor
Hi Aron, Package is all good for final review. All the issues you brought to my attention are now fixed in the updated package. The only controversial change I'm a little bit concerned about is dropping libgoffice in order to deliver most recent release. I hope this will be all right with you, otherwise I'll package older version and we'll wait for libgoffice-0.10 availability. I think it's a good time for upload since the package update is long overdue. Please feel free to grab source package: dget -ux http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/a/abiword/abiword_2.9.2-1.dsc Alternatively you can use the temporary git repository: http://git.debian.org/?p=users/onlyjob-guest/abiword.git Thank you. Some of my coworkers prefer duff over the tools available in Debian, too. I'm though no more sure why, but it's possible that speed was one argument, because they ran it over several TB of data. Will check what exactly was the reason back then. Was thinking about packaging it myself already, so I may also sponsor Kamal's package when it's ready. You just listed the third duplicate (and me no. 4), and still go blind right on "ohoh, i sponsor it". Why? I hope its conditional on it being vastly better than any of the others (speed, functionality, ...) and not just "because". Contrary to some common believe, Debian is not the dump for NIH, and even if a little redundancy can't hurt, too much is just waste. On Mon, 2012-01-16 at 23:07 +0100, Joerg Jaspert wrote: > >> What is it the benefit over fdupes, rdfind, ...? > > ..., hardlink, ... > finddup from perforate After a quick evaluation of the various "find dupe files" tools, I was attracted to try duff because: 1. It looked easier to use than the others. 2. This quote from its website[1] was exactly what I was looking for: "Note that duff itself never modifies any files, but it's designed to play nice with tools that do." The other dupe cleaner utilities left me worried that they might trash something important if I got my command line options wrong or forgot a --dry-run flag. > > Was thinking about packaging it myself already, so I may also sponsor > > Kamal's package when it's ready. Thanks Axel, but I'm a DD myself, so won't need a sponsor. > You just listed the third duplicate (and me no. 4), and still go blind > right on "ohoh, i sponsor it". Why? I hope its conditional on it being > vastly better than any of the others (speed, functionality, ...) In my humble opinion, that would be an unreasonable pre-condition for inclusion in Debian. Our standard for inclusion should not be that a new package must be "vastly better" than other similar packages. That would deny a new package the opportunity to build a user base and possibly someday evolve to become the "vastly better" alternative itself. -Kamal ka...@whence.com ka...@debian.org [1] http://duff.sourceforge.net/ signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part

All packaging is done at https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc-packaging
Bug#570611: ITP: mythtv -- A personal video recorder application
One other thing was mythtv's use of an internal ffmpeg. It needs to be able to use system ffmpeg/libav libraries before it can be uploaded to Debian. At least with Debian/Ubuntu, it needs to run with system libav.
Processed (with 4 errors): The corresponding work was never done (but I need it)

Bug#622324: Packaging of JLM harder than expected
Hello, this is a status report on the packaging of JLM, so that the bug isn't wrongly detected as dormant. Things moved forward upstream, and as usual in Java, we added a bunch of dependencies alongside. The unpackaged dependencies are now: * twitter4j (ITP #613297): Java implementation of twitter Unpackagable because of licensing issues. But this is an optional dependency that a debian patch could remove * libsmack (ITP #640873): Easy to use Java XMPP client library waiting for the next upstream release that will fix a little licencing issue before uploading * JUNG (RFP #368931): Java Universal Network/Graph Framework That one is problematic: JLM really depends on it and it's not packaged yed. I don't feel like packaging it myself, it's too large for me. No idea of how I'll deal with it. * Apache Http Components (no ITP/RFP yet?) This one is optional and could probably be cutted out (but it means that we won't post to either twitter nor identica from Debian) So, JUNG is the real show stopper here :( Bye, Mt. -- Il ne faut pas confondre « La société m'opprime » et « le système m'étrique ». --- éphéméride du 19 juin -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-wnpp-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
