RDF::Query [1] is a SPARQL implementation in Perl, aiming at
SPARQL 1.1 [2] (currently a W3C draft) support.

Apparently, most of the SPARQL 1.1 implementations available
today are Java-based. It would be nice would Debian choose to
provide a less cumbersome way to Semantic Web.

(Note that it relies on RDF::Trine [3].)

Also (without promise) I try backport all such modules for stable and

It seems to me that the libdc1394 package is not maintained. The developers
from libdc1394 would like that we can aid debian with the package
maintaining for this package. There is also the new API release. We are now
doing the packaging using the Ubuntu PPA and you can see our work here:

I intend to orphan the gnome-pilot package.
There is a svn for future maintainers:
svn://svn.debian.org/collab-maint/ext-maint/gnome-pilot
It has been more then a year that I do not use my Palm V anymore.
Gnome Pilot 2.0.17 is out and it is a good idea to update the
gnome-pilot package.

The package description is:
gnome-pilot is a GNOME applet with a daemon that monitors for
connections from a PalmOS-based device. It features a conduit
system, although it contains only basic conduits.
 .
gnome-pilot-conduits is recommended for a full set of conduits.
 .
pilot-link is used to make the connection to the device, and as
such, this package should work with serial devices, USB devices
given proper kernel support, and with XCopilot. See the package
documentation or pilot-link's documentation for more information
on configuring various types of interfaces.

Description : retrieve information from Garmin GPS devices using ANT+

This software uses the Garmin ANT+ proprietary USB keys and
communication protocol to retrieve information (such as GPS traces)
from some Garmin Forerunner watches such as Foreunner 405.
 .
The software was originally named "gant" but renamed when packaged
to avoid confusion with existing Java software.

The package name is the best I could come up with. Suggestions would
be appreciated.

This package will be maintained as part of the "pkg-running" team that
already maintains garmin-forerunner-tools and pytrainer.

  Description : GTK+ RDF editor

Morla is a multiplatform editor of RDF documents. It is based on libnxml and
librdf libraries. With Morla you can manage more RDF documents simultaneously,
visualize graphs, use templates for quick writing and exec SPARQL/RDQL
 queries.
With Morla you can import RDFS documents and use their content to write new RDF
triples. Templates are also RDF documents, and they make Morla easily
customizable and expandable. You can use Javascript code into your templates so
so you can validate and change user inputs.
Morla is also a modular software so you can add functionality about the save,
 open and view procedures.
You can also use Morla as an RDF navigator, wandering among the net knots of
the RDF documents present on internet exactly as we are used to do with web
 browsers.

  Description : multi-critera CUDF solver
mccs is a solver for package dependencies expressed in the CUDF
format. It takes as input a CUDF problem and computes the best
solution according to a combination of optimization criteria chosen
by the user. Basic criteria to be maximized or minimized may be
selected from a list of pre-defined criteria, and these can be
combined using using various aggregation operators. It relies on an
Integer Programming solver or a Pseudo Boolean solver to achieve its
task. The version of mccs distributed with this package uses cbc as
underlying solving engine, however, mccs may also be used together with
other solvers like Cplex, Gurobi, Lpsolver, Glpk, SCIP or WBO.

Description : software for solving nonlinear equations and nonlinear
least squares problems

This is the C re-write of the original fortran minpack implementation.
Minpack includes software for solving nonlinear equations and nonlinear least
squares problems. Five algorithmic paths each include a core subroutine and an
easy-to-use driver. The algorithms proceed either from an analytic
specification of the Jacobian matrix or directly from the problem functions.
The paths include facilities for systems of equations with a banded Jacobian
matrix, for least squares problems with a large amount of data, and for
checking the consistency of the Jacobian matrix with the functions.

integer programming) that is based on the MiniSat SAT-solver. It
supports optimizing a linear objective function, subject to a set
of linear constraints. The variables of the objective function
and constraints are boolean, i.e. required to be 0 or
 1. Pseudo-Boolean optimization can be used to solve many kinds of
combinatorial optimization problems. This version of Minisat+ is
compiled with bignum support for constraint coefficients.

Description : Real-time System & Event Log Monitoring System

Sagan is a multi-threaded, real time system- and event-log monitoring
system, but with a twist. Sagan uses a “Snort” like rule set for
detecting “bad things” happening on your network and/or computer
systems.
If Sagan detects a “bad thing” happening, that event can be stored to a
Snort database (MySQL/PostgreSQL) and Sagan will correlate the event
with your Snort Intrusion Detection/Intrusion Prevention system or send
it to a SIEM tool like Prelude.
Sagan is meant to be used in a ‘centralized’ logging environment, but
will work fine as part of a standalone Host IDS system for workstations.

Bug#626702: ITP: libtrycatch-perl -- first class try catch semantics for Perl

2011-05-14 Thread Jonas Smedegaard
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Jonas Smedegaard

* Package name: libtrycatch-perl
  Version : 1.003000
  Upstream Author : Ash Berlin
* URL : http://search.cpan.org/dist/TryCatch/
* License : Artistic or GPL-1+
  Programming Lang: Perl
Description : first class try catch semantics for Perl

TryCatch aims to provide a nicer syntax and method to catch errors in
Perl, similar to what is found in other languages (such as Java, Python
or C++). The standard method of using "eval {}; if ($@) {}" is often
prone to subtle bugs, primarily that its far too easy to stomp on the
error in error handlers. And also eval/if isn't the nicest idiom.

Description : text-based authoring tool for HTML

Aephea is an HTML authoring framework. It enforces HTML well-formedness
with a simpler and stricter syntax, provides useful extensions and
abstractions as well as facilities for adding new ones, all in a single
unified approach that stays close to HTML itself. Some of Aephea's
characteristics are a TeX-like syntax, dictionary stacks, iteration and a
 focus on styling via CSS.
 .
PUD (Portable Unix Documentation) is shipped with Aephea. It provides
mini-languages for authoring Unix manual pages and FAQ documents with output
 both in HTML and troff.
 .
Both Aephea and PUD are written in zoem, a high-level macro/programming
 language with character filtering capabilities.
 .

If you'd like to generate manpages, but don't like troff syntax, and find
Perl's POD too limited, Aephea's PUD is likely useful for you. If you like
your documents to be available in both PDF and HTML, but find Docbook XML
too heavyweight (and aren't really happy with Docbook XML's baroque default
 tagnames), you'll like PUD.

zoem >= 10-265-1 (in wheezy (testing) now) does not ship PUD, earlier zoem
packages did. People relying on zoem's PUD now need to use aephea. The mcl
(maintainer debian-med-packaging Cc'd) and uruk packages Build-Depend upon
zoem.

Bye,

Joost

Description : minify a CSS file and have the output written directly to
another file

This package is required to package otrs 3.0 in Debian.

This module removes unnecessary whitespace from CSS. The primary requirement
developing this
module is to not break working stylesheets: if working CSS is in input then
working
CSS is output. The Mac/Internet Explorer comment hack will be minimized but not
stripped and so will continue to function.

This module understands space, horizontal tab, new line, carriage return, and
form feed characters
to be whitespace. Any other characters that may be considered whitespace are
not minimized.
These other characters include paragraph separator and vertical tab.

For static CSS files, it is recommended that you minify during the build stage
of web deployment.
If you minify on-the-fly then it might be a good idea to cache the minified
file.
Minifying static files on-the-fly repeatedly is wasteful.

Description : a system-wide hotkey and input event daemon

Triggerhappy is a hotkey daemon that operates on a system wide scale. Instead
of relying on a specific user being logged in and running the daemon in his X
session, the triggerhappy daemon attaches directly to the input device files
and interprets the event data received. Upon noticing configured events, it
executes the programs specified in its configuration. By doing so, it ensures
that certain functions (like regulating volume, activating the network etc.)
are available regardless of a specific user being logged in as well as makes
them controllable on a headless system (e.g. an embedded media player system).
The daemon supports hotplugging by employing a simple client program being
called by udev.

The software is available through its git repository, a (simple) debian/
directory is also available in the debian branch.

Maven is a software project management and comprehension tool.
Based on the concept of a project object model (POM), Maven can
manage a project's build, reporting and documentation from a central
 piece of information.
 .
This plugin allow you to handle artifact OSGi metadata of your artifact
(JAR, WAR). It manage a new type of packaging "bundle" in your POM.
 .
This plugin depends on Felix Bundle Repository and BND for low-level
 handling of metadata.

Bug#626705: ITP: funcparserlib -- Recursive descent parsing library based on functional combinators.

2011-05-14 Thread Kouhei Maeda
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Kouhei Maeda

* Package name: funcparserlib
  Version : 3.9.2
  Upstream Author : Andrey Vlasovskikh
* URL : http://code.google.com/p/funcparserlib/
* License : MIT
  Programming Lang: Python
Description : Recursive descent parsing library based on functional
combinators.

Parser combinators are just higher-order functions that take parsers as
their arguments and return them as result values. Parser combinators are:
 .
 o First-class values
 o Extremely composable
o Tend to make the code quite compact
o Resemble the readable notation of xBNF grammars
 .
Parsers made with funcparserlib are pure-Python LL(*) parsers. It means
that it's very easy to write them without thinking about look-aheads and
all that hardcore parsing stuff. But the recursive descent parsing is a
rather slow method compared to LL(k) or LR(k) algorithms.
 .
So the primary domain for funcparserlib is parsing little languages or
 external DSLs (domain specific languages).
 .
The library itself is very small. Its source code is only 0.5 KLOC, with
lots of comments included. It features the longest parsed prefix error
reporting, as well as a tiny lexer generator for token position tracking.

Bug#533589: bt747 needs to fix some items in order to be in Debian

2011-05-14 Thread Mònica Ramírez Arceda
FTR,

I packaged bt747 but I think it doesn't fit in debian for now. Why?
Here you have some reasons:

* It uses some libraries that are not in Debian yet: swingx-ws.jar,
jchart2d-3.1.0.jar and sanselan-0.97-incubator.jar.

* It seems that one of the embedded jars (swingx-ws) is not the original
library, but a modified one and I can't find the source code..

* In some files there is external source code with different licenses. I
should examine them with more detail.

* Embedded libraries are not updated. I patched some code to adapt it to
Debian libraries.
But I don't know if upstream plans to update jars, so Debian
maintenance would be
much easier.

So, after working on it, I uploaded it to an unofficial personal
'home-made' repo (if you want to take a look, you're welcome) [0]:

Now, I want to contact with upstream developer and see if we can
collaborate to fix all items exposed above.

[0]
Repository:
deb http://dunetna.probeta.net/debian testing main
deb-src http://dunetna.probeta.net/debian testing main

To add them in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/dunetna.list:
$ echo -e "deb http://dunetna.probeta.net/debian testing main\ndeb-src
http://dunetna.probeta.net/debian testing main" | sudo su -c "cat
> /etc/apt/sources.list.d/dunetna.list"

Or go directly to http://dunetna.probeta.net/debian to get what you
want.

If you want to add my key to apt:
$ gpg --keyserver pgp.mit.edu --recv-keys 1A49C0D2
$ gpg --armor --export 1A49C0D2 | sudo apt-key add -
$ sudo aptitude update
