I'm also toying with a Launchpad PPA for now:

  https://launchpad.net/~pouillon/+archive/etsf-ubuntu

This is more convenient for us at present, as Ubuntu Lucid is the most
widespread distribution among the ETSF (http://etsf.eu/) developers. The
current objective is to cover all dependencies of Abinit, in order to
package its upcoming 6.6.1 version, refining the splitting of the binary
packages at the same time.

I'm currently working on the following packages: atompaw, wannier90,
libfox95. Damien Caliste and Sylvestre Ledru have already made - or are
in the course of making - some of the other packages available for
Debian: etsf-io, libxc, bigdft. I don't have any sponsor yet for my
packages.

> With regards to maintenance, I'm not entirely clear on how we were
> going to do things in the first place. Yann?

As far as maintenance is concerned, I'm packaging the tools and
libraries which require the biggest efforts in terms of upgrading the
build systems and sometimes parts of the source code. In each case, I'm
working in close contact with upstream developers, and I can already
report a very successful collaboration for AtomPAW. For the rest, I
fully trust the persons who volunteered to create and maintain a
package. My only concern is to keep a good coordination among the
ongoing efforts, since we have long-term objectives in the ETSF.

I've been in contact with Andreas Tille for nearly 2 years, who
initially suggested me to create and maintain a metapackage for Debian
Science. After having discussed a few times of overlaps between
metapackages with him and other people, I don't see any problem in
DebiChem including some of the nanoscale-physics* packages in their
own metapackages.

Any help is of course very welcome as well. Just keep me in touch in
order to avoid duplicate efforts.

Best regards,

Yann.

Hi,

With the last upstream version the issue with the mouse is fixed and I
think the package is close to be ready. Do you have time to take a look
or shall I look for a sponsor among the team ?

Hello,

Some people started a "fork" of Goto blas called OpenBLAS in order to
continue the maintenance.
It is available here:
https://github.com/xianyi/OpenBLAS

Emmanuel, I assign the bug to myself. If you do not agree, just let me
know. I will push my draft packaging this week end. I can obviously add
you as co-maintainer. :)

I'm not sure if you've misunderstood something or just phrased things
inaccurately, but I think this description is at least misleading for people who
aren't already familiar with the setup.

The player itself does not include a copy of any FFmpeg version, and can be
compiled against any external library versions. However, using FFmpeg-mt is the
best choice for the majority of users. Since there aren't packaged versions
available for most distros (and it's not really suited for a systemwide install
in its current form due to some API issues), the alternative recommended for
most users is to statically link against a custom-compiled FFmpeg-mt. The build
wrapper exists to make it easy to do this without needing separate manual
library building steps. However, use of the wrapper is in no way forced, and
users/packagers are free to choose what form of FFmpeg libraries to compile
against.

If by future you mean the possibility of a merge with MPlayer 1, I think it's
pretty certain that won't happen. It's possible that at some point MPlayer 1
will die and be completely replaced by MPlayer2, but any other kind of "merge"
seems unlikely.

I think having a package using FFmpeg-mt available is good, as it's a
substantial performance improvement over anything available in Debian today.
However as above this isn't directly forced by MPlayer2 itself.

Absolutely. Actually, this is also true for the package description of
the existing 'mplayer' package.

Thanks for your elaboration on the issue. For practical packaging issue,
I think it makes most sense to just use the copy of ffmpeg-mt that is
included in the mplayer2 tarball. This is what i've referred to with
saying 'includes a copy of ffmpeg-mt'.

This sounds like a very interesting tool to me, since I've been wanting
to write something similar myself. I look forward to seeing it in the
archive.

However, the name is perhaps a tad generic. Would it be possible for you
to rename it in Debian to something less generic?

run is a tool for sampling time and memory usage of a program and its
children using the proc file system of Linux. Time and space limits
are also supported. It is very helpful for benchmarking and running
competitions. It also supports limits on wall clock time and thus can
control runs of multi-threaded programs on multi-core machines as

I plan to upload the package in one or two weeks at most.

 useful for many common applications.

ITP Note: Binary will be python3-dns. This is the Python 3 port of
python-dns.

Bug#583384: Request to steal web2py ITP

2011-02-18 Thread L. Redrejo
Hello
Unless you tell me not to do so, I plan to upload this to the archive
myself and maintain these packages.
I've already worked in web2py debianization and plan to co-maintain it
under the Python Modules Packaging Team in Debian.

Please tell me if you object to me stealing your ITP, or if you're want
to contribute with some code I can upload today my current work to the
python-modules subversion.
I plan to upload the package in one or two weeks at most.

Regards.

Description : Adapt CGI.pm to the PSGI protocol

This module is for web application framework developers who currently
use CGI to handle query parameters, and would like the frameworks to
comply with the PSGI protocol.

Only slight modifications should be required if the framework already
collects the body content to print to STDOUT in one place (rather using
the print-as-you-go approach).

cpudyn controls the speed in Intel SpeedStep, Pentium 4 Mobile,

battery, lowers temperature, and can put the computer disks in standby

well even with journaled file systems such as Ext3, XFS, or ReiserFS.
Even supports the new interface for kernels 2.6.x

Description: generate/apply a patch between two binary files (python module)
bsdiff and bspatch are tools for building and applying patches to binary files.
By using suffix sorting (specifically, Larsson and Sadakane's qsufsort) and
taking advantage of how executable files change, bsdiff routinely produces
binary patches 50-80% smaller than those produced by Xdelta, and 15% smaller
than those produced by .RTPatch (a commercial patch tool).
 .
This package contains the python interpreter module.

  Programming Lang: Java
Description : Java Library to create and manipulate PDF on the fly

iText is a library that allows you to generate PDF files on the fly.
The iText classes are very useful for people who need to generate read-only,
platform independent documents containing text, lists, tables and images.
The library is especially useful in combination with Java(TM)
 technology-based Servlets: The look and feel of HTML is browser dependent;
with iText and PDF you can control exactly how your servlet's output will look.

Version 5 of the itext library is not backwards compatible with version 2, and
so to
avoid version conflicts the new version will be packaged as libitext5-java as
agreed
on the debian-java mailing list.

Package name: krazy2
Version: 0
Upstream Author: Allen Winter
URL: http://www.englishbreakfastnetwork.org/
License: LGPL, MIT/X11 and others.
Description: KDE source code checker
Krazy scans KDE source code looking for issues that should be fixed
for reasons of policy, good coding practice, optimization, or any other
good reason. In typical use, Krazy simply counts up the issues
and provides the line numbers where those issues occurred in each
 file processed.
 .
This package provides the following programs:
  - krazy2 - checks one or various files given in command line
  - krazy2all - checks all supported files under the current directory
  - krazy2xml - a wrapper around krazy to generate results for EBN (see below)
 .
These programs are being used by official KDE developers to find issues in
their
software, in fact they have a web page (English Breakfast Network a.k.a. EBN)
which displays the daily results of running these programs against their code,
 see:
 http://www.englishbreakfastnetwork.org/

Description : type-safe access to SQLite DB in OCaml

Minimalistic library and syntax extension for type-safe, convenient execution
of SQL statements. Currently compatible with Sqlite3.
  .
  Sqlexpr features:
   * automated prepared statement caching, param binding, data extraction, error
checking (including automatic stmt reset to avoid BUSY/LOCKED errors in
subsequent queries), stmt finalization on db close, etc.
   * HOFs like iter, fold, transaction
   * support for different concurrency models: everything is functorized over a
THREAD monad, so you can for instance do concurrent folds/iters with Lwt
   * support for SQL stmt syntax checks and some extra semantic checking (column
 names, etc)

Bug#517734: ITP: lusca -- Lusca Web Proxy Cache

2011-02-18 Thread Luigi Gangitano
Hi Adrian,

Thanks for pointing this to me. :-) I'm actually restructuring the files under
debian/ on the squid3 base, using cdbs and simplifying package management.

There is actually no need to integrate this changes upstream. I can easily keep
debian-related changes in my local repository, so that updates can be
independent from your development.

Can you please help me with some details? I'd like to know if

- cachemgr.cgi and squidclient differ substantially from the squid version? If
the protocol behind those two utilities is not changed a single copy can be
distributed in the debian archive;
- your package builds unstripped binaries, is this intended?

Thanks for your directions.

Regards,

L

Hash: SHA1

I would like to adopt this package.
Upstream will probably release a new version 6.2.3 very soon (already tagged
in repo). After this I'll see to do an adopting upload.
Would you be willing to sponsor it when the time comes?

I'll also look into adopt the rdepends when no one else does so in near
future.

Regards,
Julian Taylor

Bug#613517: Review of the copyright file of libsbsms_1.7.0-1.

thanks

Dear Benjamin,

In the hope of speeding up and strenghtening the processing of NEW I had a look
at your package. The rationale is explained in the proposal in the following
wiki page: http://wiki.debian.org/CopyrightReview

I found that the files m4/ac_c99_func_*.m4 were not documented in your copyright
file. I attached a patch.

If you update your package, this will not change its seat number in the NEW
queue, and it may save you some time, in case the package were rejected for the
error above.

Have a nice day,
