Bug#522138: Gears is dead

2011-02-13 Thread Micah Gersten
Google Gears has been dead upstream for about a year, I don't know if
there's any reason to get this into Debian. We dropped it in Ubuntu
in Maverick.

Thanks,
Micah

Description : Tie::RefHash subclass with weakened references in the keys

Tie::RefHash can be used to access hashes by reference. This is useful when
you index by object, for example.

The problem with Tie::RefHash, and cross indexing, is that sometimes the
index should not contain strong references to the objecs. The internal
structures of Tie::RefHash contain strong references to the key, and provide
no convenient means to make those references weak.

This subclass of Tie::RefHash has weak keys, instead of strong ones. The
values are left unaltered, and you'll have to make sure there are no strong
references there yourself.

Package: wnpp

Owner: Damyan Ivanov

* Package name: libje-perl
  Version : 0.053
  Upstream Author : Father Chrysostomos
* URL : http://search.cpan.org/dist/JE/
* License : GPL-1+ or Artistic (same as Perl)
  Programming Lang: Perl
Description : pure-Perl ECMAScript (JavaScript) engine

JE is a pure-Perl ECMAScript (JavaScript) engine. Here are some of its
 advantages:
  - Compatible with Data::Dump::Streamer, so the runtime environment can be
serialised
  - The parser can be extended/customised to support extra (or fewer) language
features (not yet complete)
  - All JavaScript datatypes can be manipulated directly from Perl (they all
have overloaded operators)
 .
 Here are its main weakness:
  - It's slow
  - It uses lots of memory.
  - It leaks memory (to be fixed).
 .
This is still an alpha release, but it fully implements ECMAScript v3, except
 for a few seldom-used features like -0.

The package is a prerequisite of libpadre-plugin-javascript-perl (in
preparation) and will be maintained by the Debian Perl Group.

Description : Generic support for list-like structures
Generic support for list-like structures in Haskell.
 .
The ListLike module provides a common interface to the various Haskell
types that are list-like. Predefined interfaces include standard
Haskell lists, Arrays, ByteStrings, and lazy ByteStrings. Custom
types can easily be made ListLike instances as well.
 .
ListLike also provides for String-like types, such as String and
ByteString, for types that support input and output, and for types that can
 handle infinite lists.

This module provides a way of using a module which may or may not be
installed on the target machine. If the module is available it behaves
as a straight use. If the module is not available, subs are repointed to

This is a library focused on re-implementing existing objects written in C
using only objects that are included in puredata. The idea is to provide
drop-in replacements for the binary objects usable on any platform that are
also understandable to any Pd programmer.

Arm is a terminal controller for tor [1]. See its project page [2] and
wikipedia [3] for the project's description, screenshots, etc. It's an
official part of the tor project, and under the GPLv3. For more context from
people in the debian community please check with Erinn Clark and Peter
Palfrader (cc-ed). The signed deb builds (along with rpm build and source
tarball) are available at:
http://www.atagar.com/transfer/tmp/armBuilds.tar.bz2
http://www.atagar.com/transfer/tmp/armBuilds.tar.bz2.asc

This is a python project (cross platform) and the deb built without any
lintian issues. If something further is needed the please let me know.
Cheers! -Damian

Severity: normal

I intend to orphan the offlineimap package. I was both upstream
author and Debian maintainer. I am retiring as both; see
http://article.gmane.org/gmane.mail.imap.offlineimap.general/1759

The package description is:
OfflineIMAP is a tool to simplify your e-mail reading. With
 OfflineIMAP, you can:
 .
  * Read the same mailbox from multiple computers, and have your
changes (deletions, etc.) be automatically reflected on
all computers
 .
  * Use various mail clients to read a single mail box
 .
  * Read mail while offline (on a laptop) and have all changes
synchronized when you get connected again
 .
  * Read IMAP mail with mail readers that do not support IMAP
 .
  * Use SSL (secure connections) to read IMAP mail even if your reader
doesn't support SSL
 .
  * Synchronize your mail using a completely safe and fault-tolerant
algorithm. (At least I think it is!)
 .
  * Customize which mailboxes to synchronize with regular expressions
or lists.
 .
  * Synchronize your mail two to four times faster than with other tools
or other mail readers' internal IMAP support.
 .
In short, OfflineIMAP is a tool to let you read mail how YOU want to.

Bug#613209: O: jabberd14 -- Instant messaging server using the Jabber/XMPP protocol

2011-02-13 Thread Miguel Landaeta
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I intend to orphan the jabberd14 package. I no longer use
it and active upstream development has practically stopped.
The last upstream release was on July 2007.

My use-case for this package was very simple, just a very
simple jabber server in a domestic LAN, without SSL and
without server to server communication.
For a very simple jabber server I would recommend to use
prosody. For other needs, ejabberd would do just fine.

I remark that because this package is bitrotting and almost
all outstanding bugs have to do with those features that I
don't use and I'm not really interested.

In fact I'm wondering if I should ask its removal from the
archive. If nobody adopt it soon I'll ask for removal.

Cheers,

Description: perl Apache::ASP - Active Server Pages for Apache with mod_perl
This perl module provides an Active Server Pages port to the Apache Web
Server with perl as the host scripting language. Active Server Pages is
a web application platform that originated with the Microsoft NT/IIS
server. Under Apache for Unix and Win32 platforms it allows a developer
to create dynamic web applications with session management and embedded
 perl code.
 .
This module works under the Apache Web Server with the mod_perl
module enabled. See http://www.apache.org and http://perl.apache.org
for further information. It can also work under a standard CGI call
interface using the asp-perl command. See README.Debian in this
 package for more details.
 .
This is a portable solution, similar to ActiveState's PerlScript for
NT/IIS ASP. Work has been done and will continue to make ports to and
from this implementation as smooth as possible.

Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I request an adopter for the linux-libertine package.

The package description is:
The Linux Libertine Open Font project is designed to offer a free
alternative for fonts such as Times New Roman. All
fonts from Linux Libertine are provided with full sources (FontForge).
 .
This package contains transformations to TrueType (.ttf).

-

I've adopted linux-libertine just last fall. However I failed to
get into the details of font packaging and am now skeptical I'll have
the motivation to do so soon. So I guess it's just better if someone
with more interest in the topic takes over.

Short-ish term todo for the package is sorting out otf vs. ttf
bugs and maybe investigating the hugely different filesize when
comparing upstream ttf and the result of a build using the sfd files.

If you want to take over and are not (yet) able to upload yourself
feel free to contact me for sponsoring.

Regards

Christoph

How is packaging going forward? If this is not yet team-maintained, we
can propose to maintain it as part of the Debichem project (possibly
along with some/all of the other nanoscale-physics packages).

See README.Debian in this
 package for more details.
 .
This is a portable solution, similar to ActiveState's PerlScript for
NT/IIS ASP. Work has been done and will continue to make ports to and
from this implementation as smooth as possible.

OK, no problem. I probably won't have much time to work on it in the

check back sometime in the next couple weeks probably.

I intend to orphan the nestra package.

The games team has expressed interest in maintaining this package. If
someone else is interested, you may want to talk with the team (or
consider becoming a member).

The package description is:
Nestra is a dynamic recompiler which translates 6502 code into native code
to emulate a Nintendo Entertainment System. Execution of the translated
code is quite fast, and the emulator can run at full speed with relatively
modest CPU requirements. However, there is no sound support.
 .
To use this program, you need NES ROMs which are not included.

Dear Maintainer,

While reviewing some packages, your package came up as a possible
candidate for removal from Debian, because:

 * Last maintainer upload in 2005
 * 3 NMUs since then
 * package of limited usefulness (alternatives available, low popcon)

If you think that it should be orphaned instead of being removed from
Debian, please reply to this bug and tell so.

If you disagree and want to continue to maintain this package, please
just close this bug and do an upload also fixing the other issues.

If you agree that it should be removed, send the following commands to

retitle nn RM:  -- RoM;
