Bug#610392: ITP: js-of-ocaml -- OCaml bytecode to JavaScript compiler

2011-01-18 Thread Stéphane Glondu
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: "Stéphane Glondu"

* Package name: js-of-ocaml
  Version : 1.0
  Upstream Author : Jérôme Vouillon
* URL : http://ocsigen.org/js_of_ocaml/
* License : LGPL-2+
  Programming Lang: OCaml, JavaScript
  Description : OCaml bytecode to JavaScript compiler

 Js_of_ocaml is a compiler of OCaml bytecode to JavaScript. It makes
 it possible to run OCaml programs in a web browser. Its key features
 are the following:
  * the whole language, and most of the standard library are
supported;
  * the compiler is easy to install: it only depends on Findlib and
Lwt;
  * the generated code can be used with any web server and browser;
  * you can use a standard installation of OCaml to compile your
programs. In particular, you do not have to recompile a library to
use it with Js_of_ocaml. You just have to link your program with a
specific library to interface with the browser APIs.

Saludos.

of the originally three unpackaged dependencies, only zfec is left.
(503977 and 499699 are resolved.)

by the way, the ubuntu packages work well, and seem to be packaged
reasonably, judging from a glance at the debian/ directory.

The monit package is in fairly good shape, but as I don't use it
myself any longer I think the package could be better maintained
by someone more motivated.

Upstream is very responsive, and frequently follows up on bug
reports.

If you actively use monit and would like to adopt it, please do.

Regards,
 Stefan

Bug#608409: Updated long description

2011-01-18 Thread Jonas Smedegaard

Just a heads up that I am still working on this one.

Anyone curious to try it out can do so using the following APT line:

 deb http://debian.jones.dk/ sid freedombox

Here's an updated long description for the upcoming package:

 Diaspora x² is a web-based client for XMPP-based decentral social
 networking.
 .
 Originating as a fork of the Ruby project Diaspora, by now Diaspora x²
 is completely rewritten, with user-facing parts reimplemented in
 JavaScript and backend replaced with hooks into open standards-based
 XMPP federated Activity Streams and Channels.
 .
 Unlike other major social networking projects, e.g. AppleSeed and Elgg,
 Diaspora x² use XMPP as backend. And unlike OnesocialWeb, another
 project using XMPP, the needed extensions are rather lightweight so
 should be easier to implement and deploy for more XMPP servers.

Suggestions for improvements are much appreciated, as is help packaging.

Bug#610477: ITP: libhttp-async-perl -- process multiple HTTP requests in parallel without blocking

2011-01-18 Thread USB
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: "Ernesto Hernández-Novich (USB)"

* Package name: libhttp-async-perl
  Version : 0.09
  Upstream Author : Edmund von der Burg
* URL : http://search.cpan.org/dist/HTTP-Async/
* License : Artistic
  Programming Lang: Perl
  Description : process multiple HTTP requests in parallel without blocking

Although using the conventional LWP::UserAgent is fast and easy it does have
some drawbacks - the code execution blocks until the request has been
completed and it is only possible to process one request at a time.
HTTP::Async attempts to address these limitations.

It gives you a 'Async' object that you can add requests to, and then get the
requests off as they finish. The actual sending and receiving of the requests
is abstracted. As soon as you add a request it is transmitted, if there are
too many requests in progress at the moment they are queued. There is no
concept of starting or stopping - it runs continuously.

Whilst it is waiting to receive data it returns control to the code that
called it meaning that you can carry out processing whilst fetching data from
the network. All without forking or threading - it is actually done using
select lists.

Bug#610495: RFP: ulatencyd -- daemon controlling how the kernel spends resources on running processes

2011-01-18 Thread Francois Marier
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: ulatencyd
  Version : 0.3.1
  Upstream Author : Daniel Poelzleithner
* URL : https://github.com/poelzi/ulatencyd/
* License : GPLv3
  Programming Lang: C
  Description : daemon controlling how the kernel spends resources on
running processes

Ulatency is a daemon that controls how the Linux kernel will spend it's
resources on the running processes.
.
The Linux scheduler does a pretty good job to give the available resources to
all processes, but this may not be the best user experience in the desktop case.
ulatencyd monitors the system and categorizes the running processes into
cgroups.
Processes that run wild to slow down the system by causing massive swaping will
be isolated.
.
It strongly supports the lua scripting language for writing rules and the
scheduler code.
