Bug#515431: ITA: povray -- Persistence of vision raytracer (3D renderer)

2010-03-06 Thread Oliver Korff
Hi Torsten,

I do not have any problems regarding the licence. But as you have had
a deeper look into the package, do you see any other things, that might be
difficult.

I plan to solve the bashism problems soon and remove the lintian warnings.
The next thing is to make povray available to the kfreebsd arch. Another
step might be to package povray 3.7.betaXX for experimental.

Regards,

Oliver

Bug#515431: ITA: povray -- Persistence of vision raytracer (3D renderer)

2010-03-06 Thread Oliver Korff
Hi,

I would really regret the fact, if debian would come without povray. I have
been raytracing
some things in former times and will take over the management of the package.
Don't expect
everything to be resolved in a minute, but I will prepare an upload soon.

Regards,

Oliver

Bug#511325: haskell-hxt?

2010-03-06 Thread Joachim Breitner
Dear Takakai,

the haskell-hxt ITP[1] is owned by you. It seems you uploaded a package
once, but it did not pass through NEW. Why is that so?

We really should have haskell-hxt in Debian. Some source files in
highlighting-kate are generated by a program requiring haskell-hxt,
therefore we are actually violating the DFSG by not having haskell-hxt
around.

BTW, did you see my e-Mail from February 27th?

Greetings,
Joachim

Ignace, the package is maintained in collab-maint subversion repository,
can you just do the work there? That way I can easily review what you're
doing and sponsor your uploads. If you need to be added to the project,
just tell me I can do it.

Some early remarks:
- do you know dh --with bash_completion instead of using an override ?
- I prefer prefixed files like debian/alltray.symbols (it looks less
  cluttered in debian/)

do the packaging under the hood of the Python Apps Packaging

I did not know about this flag. I have removed the override. Thank you
for the tip! :)

I agree with you. I have renamed the "non default" files to alltray.*.

>
> What exactly did you change here?

Lintian complained about the copyright file containing boilerplates
from older versions of dh_make. I removed the remaining "(C)"
copyright sign (which triggered the Lintian warning), added the
copyright for the debian/* files. and rephrased the different sections
(because I find this clearer) to:
---8<--8<---
File:
Copyright:
License:
---8<--8<---

May be should I rephrase the changelog to make it clearer?

Thank you for your time.

Kind regards,
 Ignace M

Bug#511325: haskell-hxt?

2010-03-06 Thread TANIGUCHI Takaki
Hi Joachim,

haskell-hxt-8.3.2 was rejected by some documantations' license problems.
8.5.0 has not such problems, but 8.5.0 build-depends on
haskell-tagsoup(=0.8). I wait to upload new tagsoup.

I forget to check your previous mail. I'll read it.

Bug#469181: ITP: nautilussvn/rabbitvcs

I definitely have the time :) in fact I've posted FOUR RFSs for it so
far, but after no response whatsoever I thought I'd wait until a
better time :P

The packaging in our SVN trunk (under packaging) represents my efforts
so far, and should be completely in line with standards (except for
the standards version, and 3.8.3 -> 3.8.4 doesn't really affect
things).

Note that the package is now split into seven components, core and
clients, and also requires Adam Plumbs thunarx-python extension (also
packaged, available here: http://github.com/adamplumb/thunarx-python,
but he doesn't appear to have added my packaging to his repo yet).

If you are able to sponsor me, feel free to contact me privately and
we can discuss how best to proceed.

Cheers,
Jason

Bug#572855: RFP: sfio-dev -- Phong Vo's Safe Fast I/O Library (AT&T Advanced Software Technology)

2010-03-06 Thread Norman Ramsey
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

I'd like to see Phong Vo's sfio library packaged for easy use by
Debian programmers. This software is extraordinarily flexible and
performant, and I believe Debian developers will benefit materially by
having it easily available. (The upstream install process is baroque.)

I've listed the information page as the URL;
the download page is http://www2.research.att.com/sw/download/.
What I'm really keen to have is the sfio library, but I have no
problem if someone wants to package the entire ast-ast library, which
is the way it is bundled upstream. All of that stuff is pretty useful.

* Package name: sfio-dev
  Version : 2010-03-01
  Upstream Author : Phong Vo
* URL :
http://www2.research.att.com/~gsf/download/ref/sfio/sfio.html
* License : AT&T Common Public License,
http://www2.research.att.com/~gsf/license/cpl-1.0.html
  Programming Lang: C
Description : Phong Vo's Safe Fast I/O Library (AT&T Advanced Software
Technology)

Sfio is a library for managing I/O streams. It provides functionality
similar to that of Stdio, the ANSI C Standard I/O library, but via a
distinct interface that is more powerful, robust and efficient.
Features include thread safety, adaptive buffering, and efficient
algorithms for reading and writing numbers. Available features to
enhance performance include direct access to stream buffers to avoid
copying, and operations that read and scan lines or records of any
length, avoiding buffer overflow automatically.
