Bug#481082: Removal of crypt++el
Hi, The package crypt++el was removed from the archive without talking to the maintainer. He was just in the process of preparing fixes and making a new update. The bugreport against ftp.debian.org arrived Mon, 14 Jan 2008 11:00:34 +0100 and the package was removed only some hours later Mon, 14 Jan 2008 21:51:54 +. I was the former maintainer of this package and use it extensively. So when came aware of the removal I contacted the maintainer and he told me all about it and that he just had not the energy to pursue the matter. I am really astonished the ftpmaster removes a package on such a short notice and without talking to the maintainer. Please reinstall the falsely removed package. We try to get the outstanding issues resolved as soon as possible. Christoph PS: I filed an ITP to get it back into Debian too (481082). But it should be really just reinstalled. -- Christoph Martin, Leiter der EDV der Verwaltung, Uni-Mainz, Germany Internet-Mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Telefon: +49-6131-3926337 Fax: +49-6131-3922856 signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature

EasyPG is now a part of development > version of Emacs (version 23), and I'd love to improve it. crypt++.el has a lot of predefined file extensions which jka-compr misses. I did not check all the features of crypt++.el but I did not find a way to open a .tar.gz. In jka-compr I only found configuration for gzip compression. crypt++ has compress, gzip, bzip, bzip2, freeze, compact, dos-unix conversion, mac-unix conversion crypt++ has crypt, des, des-ecb, pgp, pgp-pub, gpg, mcrypt, rc4. crypt++ can use recursively the packer functions of emacs like tar and zip mode together with dired. If a package wants to replace crypt++el all these functions should work out of the box without first having to be configured by the user. If you tell me how all this will work with jka-compr and easypg I will be more than happy. Bug#481082: Removal of crypt++el
Hi Christoph, Christoph Martin wrote: I am really astonished the ftpmaster removes a package on such a short notice and without talking to the maintainer. debian-devel-announce is the required reading for all Debian maintainers. The release team told people[1] that debmake is on its way out 16 months after the debmake maintainer[2] indicated that that would be the plan, the package in question is depending on it, and the bug[3] about it contains no activity from the maintainer at all for a year and a half. Waiting for removal bugs to be filed before you act because you expect to have time then is not exactly the way to a bright future of package maintenance. We do try to let people know what is happening to their packages but your present complaint borders on abuse of that practice. Please reinstall the falsely removed package. We try to get the outstanding issues resolved as soon as possible. Let's not and pretend to know why we don't. Any prospective adopter should be confident enough with Python to be willing to delve into the code which upstreams for other packages have written to wrap and extend the functionality of SCons - breakage in those is the major source of problems reported in the package (rather than issues with direct use of SCons). The package description is: SCons is a make replacement providing a range of enhanced features such as automated dependency generation and built in compilation cache support. SCons rule sets are Python scripts so as well as the features it provides itself SCons allows you to use the full power of Python to control compilation. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.24-1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash --- End Message --- --- Begin Message --- Source: scons Source-Version: 0.98.4-1 We believe that the bug you reported is fixed in the latest version of scons, which is due to be installed in the Debian FTP archive: scons_0.98.4-1.diff.gz to pool/main/s/scons/scons_0.98.4-1.diff.gz scons_0.98.4-1.dsc to pool/main/s/scons/scons_0.98.4-1.dsc scons_0.98.4-1_all.deb to pool/main/s/scons/scons_0.98.4-1_all.deb scons_0.98.4.orig.tar.gz to pool/main/s/scons/scons_0.98.4.orig.tar.gz A summary of the changes between this version and the previous one is attached. The package psad contains a file /usr/lib/perl5/IPTables/Parse.pm. (http://www.cipherdyne.org/modules/ also mentions ".. provides .. modules used by the psad, ...") Bug#481982: ITP: ttf-sil-andika-basic -- extended sans serif smart Unicode Latin/Greek font family
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist * Package name: ttf-sil-andika-basic Version : 1.0 Upstream Author : Victor Gaultney, Annie Olsen, Julie Remington (SIL International) * URL : http://scripts.sil.org/Andika * License : Open Font License Description : extended sans serif smart Unicode Latin/Greek font family Description: Andika ("Write!" in Swahili) is a sans serif, Unicode-compliant font designed especially for literacy use, taking into account the needs of beginning readers. The focus is on clear, easy-to-perceive letterforms that will not be easily confused with one another. A sans serif font is preferred by some literacy personnel for teaching people to read. Its forms are simpler and less cluttered than some serif fonts can be. For years, literacy workers have had to make do with fonts that were available but not really suitable for beginning readers and writers. In some cases, literacy specialists have had to tediously cobble together letters from a variety of fonts in order to get the all of characters they need for their particular language project, resulting in confusing and unattractive publications. Andika addresses those issues. Its provides OpenType and Graphite features like smart code for diacritic placement. It supports recent additions to Unicode and the SIL PUA, and character assignments are updated to conform to Unicode 5.1 A much more complete character set, comparable to Charis SIL and Doulos SIL, will be supported in a future version of Andika. This "Basic" font is intended to provide an Andika with stable letterforms for both default and alternate glyphs. signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature

As a matter of fact, all packages from cipherdyne are being packaged to avoid conflicts between psad, fwsnort and fwknop. Talking with Daniel Gubser (psad maintainer), and Michael Rash (upstream author), we decided the best way to integrate the three main packages, was to create : - libiptables-parse-perl - libiptables-chainmgr-perl So, right now, in my repository, I have : - a rebuilt psad with new dependencies, - fwsnort, - libiptables-parse-perl (IPTables::Parse), - libiptables-chainmgr-perl (IPTables::ChainMgr), - fwknop under development. Daniel is fairly busy, but I am working with M. Rash to get something nice until he has the time to take a look. --- Franck Joncourt. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
