Bug#264107: O: dia2code -- a dia-UML code generator

2007-12-04 Thread Lucas Nussbaum
severity 264107 serious
thanks

Hi,

The "dia2code" package has been orphaned for a very long time now (in
fact, it's one of the oldest orphaned packages in Debian). I'm going
through such packages, to see if they can be safely removed from Debian,
since noone seems to care about them.

You are receiving this mail because your name showed up somewhere in the
history of the package, or because I think that you might be interested
for some reason, or because you maintain a related/similar package. Are
you interested in adopting this package? Do you know potential adopters?
If so, could you forward them this mail, Ccing the BTS and me?

With no action from anyone, I'll request the removal of this package
from Debian after a month.

Thank you,

Bug#454323: RFA: vim-latexsuite

2007-12-04 Thread James Vega
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

The package is currently maintained under the Package Vim Maintainers
umbrella but there's no one that's really giving it the proper attention
it needs. There are an increasing number of bugs, the scripts are
fairly complex, and upstream doesn't seem to be very active.

The package description is:
vim-latexsuite attempts to provide a comprehensive set of tools to view,
edit and compile LaTeX documents in Vim. Together, they provide tools starting
from macros to speed up editing LaTeX documents to functions for forward
 searching .dvi documents.
 .
This package also provides help to LaTeX in Vim.

Bug#454359: ITP: processing -- spawning processes mimicking the threading module

2007-12-04 Thread Sandro Tosi
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Sandro Tosi <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

* Package name: processing
  Version : 0.39
  Upstream Author : R Oudkerk
* URL : http://pypi.python.org/pypi/processing/
* License : BSD
  Programming Lang: Python
Description : spawning processes mimicking the threading module

It's a package for the Python language which supports the spawning of
processes using the API of the standard library's ``threading``
 module. Its features are:
 .
   * Objects can be transferred between processes using pipes or
 multi-producer/multi-consumer queues.
   * Objects can be shared between processes using a server process or
 (for simple data) shared memory.
   * Equivalents of allthe synchronization primitives in
 ``threading`` are available.
   * A Pool class makes it easy to submit tasks to a pool of worker
 processes.

Description : cluster-based virtualization management software

Ganeti is a virtual server management software tool built on top of Xen
virtual machine monitor and other Open Source software.

Once installed, the tool will take over the management part of the
virtual instances (Xen DomU), e.g. disk creation management, operating
system installation for these instances (in co-operation with
OS-specific install scripts), and startup, shutdown, failover between
physical systems.

It has been designed to facilitate cluster management of virtual servers
and to provide fast and simple recovery after physical failures using
commodity hardware.

Description : library and utilities for multi-way secret sharing

This library implements Shamir's method for secret sharing, which can be
used to split a secret (like a GPG secret key) into multiple parts, so that
at least some number of those parts are needed to recover the original file,
but any smaller combination of parts is useless to an attacker.
 .
For instance, you might split a GPG key using a 3-of-5 share and put one
share on each of three computers, and two shares on a USB memory stick; then
you can use the GPG key on any of those three computers using the memory
stick, but if the memory stick is lost, you can recover the key by
 bringing the three computers together.

As well as a set of library packages, I intend to package the gfsplit and
gfcombine command-line utilities as a binary package gfshare-utils.
I'm in contact with the upstream author, and have asked him to release
current bzr as 1.0.3, but until then I'm going to package what's in bzr.

If anyone's interested: I have vague plans to write a FUSE filesystem that
works like a cross between gfcombine and unionfs, and the upstream author has
told me that Søren Hansen has similar plans.

 Programming Lang: C
Description : a library for porting blocked io(OSS/ALSA) apps to jack

A library that allows for simple porting of general purposed
bio(blocked io) OSS/ALSA audio applications to Jack.

A library for enabling easy porting of blocked io(OSS/ALSA) applications to
the jack sound server(http://jackit.sourceforge.net). This library allows the
person porting the code to simply replace the calls into OSS/ALSA with
calls into interface functions of this library. The library buffers a
small amount of audio data and takes care of the rest of the jack
implementation including the linked list of audio data buffers and the jack
callback.

This program never was package for Debian before. However, it was
packaged for Ubuntu. Althougth the project has low activity now, many
project uses it. I need it because I have other package ready for to
package and it uses bio2jack for work.

Bug#454384: ITP: potamus -- extremely lightweight GTK-based audio player

2007-12-04 Thread Anibal Avelar
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Anibal Avelar <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

* Package name:  potamus
 Version : 0.9
 Upstream Author : Adam Sampson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://offog.org/code/potamus.html
* License : GPL2
 Programming Lang: C, GTK
Description : extremely lightweight GTK-based audio player

Potamus is an extremely lightweight GTK-based audio player with a
simple interface and an emphasis on high audio quality.

It was written as a reaction to players like Rhythmbox that use a
complex database to keep track of a music collection. My preference
instead is to make use of the filesystem for sorting music, so Potamus
knows nothing about the files it's playing other than their names, and
tries to make it as easy as possible to use your file manager to
locate and play music.

Potamus may be considered to be a successor to GNU xhippo. It is
currently in a somewhat unfinished state, but it's complete enough
that I now use it as my day-to-day music player. It can decode FLAC,
Ogg Vorbis, MPEG audio, and any format supported by the ModPlug or
audiofile libraries. For MPEG audio playback (including MP3), it uses
libmad's high-quality decoder to produce dithered 24-bit output. It
can use OSS or ALSA (via libao) for direct output, or can work with
JACK, converting sample rates and formats where necessary. It supports
24-bit audio output and gapless playback. It can perform simple
operations on channels (sum and difference, phase reversal, single
channels).
