As I understand the mail upstream send me, he wants to have this
"bonobo"-nocopyright in the source. I allready quoted the important
part of the mail in d/copyright and my ITP, or should I quote the whole
mail?

Damn, will have to translate it from German :-(

The actual release has the following "copyright" notice:

 * Written November 2006 by E. Toernig's bonobo - no copyrights.
 *
 * Contact: Edgar Toernig <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

This is what I meant by "bonobo"-nocopyright, and I don't think he'll
change this to anything different.

Bug#406609: O: mga-vid

2007-01-12 Thread Steffen Joeris
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

Hi

After some communication with the current maintainer he agreed in
orphaning this package. If you want to adopt the package, please go
ahead but be aware of the fact that it takes time and skills to become
the maintainer.

Package: mga-vid-source

Description: Kernel driver for the back-end scaler on Matrox cards (source)
The mga_vid module will enable you to use the back-end scaler found on
many Matrox cards. If you own a Matrox card, and use your Debian system
to watch movies with 'mplayer', which you'll find at http://mplayerhq.hu ,
you definitely want this piece of software, as it is the best video
 output driver available.
 .
This package just contain the sources needed to build the kernel module.
To actually use it, you'll have to compile it to match your installed
 kernel. Refer to /usr/share/doc/mga-vid-source/README.Debian for
information on how to do this.

Package: mga-vid-common

Description: Module aliases and test program for /dev/mga_vid
This package contains the program 'mga_vid_test', which has one mission
in life: to verify that the mga_vid driver works correctly.
 .
It also contains some configuration files for devfs and modutils so that
the module gets loaded automatically on demand and so that the device
node will be created with proper permissions (if you're using devfs).

Cheers
Steffen

Bug#406627: RFP: fwknop -- Single Packet Authorization via "FireWall KNock OPerator"

2007-01-12 Thread Martin Mueller
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Description (from URL):

fwknop stands for the "FireWall KNock OPerator", and implements an
authorization scheme called Single Packet Authorization (SPA) that is
based around Netfilter and libpcap. SPA requires only a single
encrypted packet in order to communicate various pieces of information
including desired access through a Netfilter policy and/or complete
commands to execute on the target system. By using Netfilter to
maintain a "default drop" stance, the main application of this program
is to protect services such as OpenSSH with an additional layer of
security in order to make the exploitation of vulnerabilities (both
0-day and unpatched code) much more difficult. The authorization
server passively monitors authorization packets via libcap and hence
there is no "server" to which to connect in the traditional sense.
Access to a protected service is only granted after a valid encrypted
and non-replayed packet is monitored.

Advantages over Port Knocking:

+ SPA can utilize asymmetric ciphers for encryption
+ SPA packets are non-replayable
+ SPA cannot be broken by trivial sequence busting attacks
+ SPA only sends a single packet over the network
+ SPA is much faster
+ SPA is compatible with 2048-bit Elgamal GnuPG keys

Tools provided within the Package:

+ fwknop (8), fwknop client
+ fwknopd (8), fwknopd Single Packet Authorization (SPA) server
+ knopmd (8), legacy daemon to acquire Netfilter log messages for
deprecated port knocking mode.
+ knopwatchd (8), process monitoring daemon for fwknop daemons.

Can you send me your sources (orig.tar.gz, diff.gz and dsc) so that I
can have it locally, too ? I will put it on my mirror until it can enter
experimental or sid.

PS: I correct some mistakes in my package.
So my libyaz2-dev has probably changed since you download it
(but the changes was about the copyright and source files
(debian/watch), so it should not change anything for your package)

  Best regards,

I've uploaded the binary and source package to
http://www.toastfreeware.priv.at/debian/
where you can grab it via apt-get or directly from the unstable/
directory.

(PS: Yes I know, there's a missing manpage ;-))

Bug#406495: ITP: odt2txt -- simple converter from OpenDocument Text to plain text

Hi Nelson,

Thanks for the explanation on the difference between o3read and odt2txt.

For the integration with mutt, I think that it needs at least a mime
entry similar to the one of antiword:

application/msword; /usr/bin/antiword %s; copiousoutput; description="Microsoft
Word Text"; nametemplate=%s.doc; priority=0

I also found this in my .muttrc:

auto_view text/html application/msword application/x-gettext
application/x-gunzip

I can try to do similar autoviewing with early versions of your package
if you are not a mutt user. It would be really great (at least for me)
to have this working. I find the antiword trick very convenient, as the
converted message is appended in the quoted reply, and it is sort of
frustrating to lose this convenience when I convince my contacts to
migrate to OpenOffice...

Have a nice day,

If you want to take a look at the package, you can get the files here:

It's the same version that is awaiting on the NEW queue.

Bug#304330: Taking over iscsitarget packaging

2007-01-12 Thread Frederik Schueler
Hello,

I want iscsitarget in the archive after the release.

Further, this is pretty close kernel-related, thus I think the
maintainership should be within the Debian kernel team.

If there won't be any reaction within the next week (until friday the
19th January) I will take this ITP over.

Best regards
Frederik Schüler

Bug#387473: go ahead

2007-01-12 Thread Nico Golde
Hi,
just go ahead with packaging it and find someone who
sponsors the upload for you. Maybe write a mail to the
current maintainer telling him that you'll help.
You can find people who are able to upload the package for
you on: debian-mentors@lists.debian.org by writing
an RFS.
Read it up on:
http://people.debian.org/~mpalmer/debian-mentors_FAQ.html
"How do I get a sponsor for my package?"
Kind regards
Nico

I haven't heard back from you, so I'm assuming you're no longer
interested. If you are, feel free to retitle the bug again.

Bug#382195: Offer of Assistance

2007-01-12 Thread Sean Kellogg
Hey folks, I noticed that this package hasn't really gone anywhere in the past
few months. I have a shiny new iRiver my GF bought me for Christmas, and
it's going to break my heart if I can't use it because a package is stuck due
to lack of interest.

I haven't done much with Debian packages, but I'm happy to learn and help out
if it means this package can get into unstable sooner. Is there something I
can do?

I noticed the list of comments from James Westby... I can follow up on some
of those if there is need.

Bug#406495: ITP: odt2txt -- simple converter from OpenDocument Text to plain text

How does it compare to the converter from the o3read package? Can there
be some automagic mutt handling such as for antiword?

I was needing an OpenDocument (.odt) to text converter, like antiword.
OpenDocument [1] is now the default format of OpenOffice Writer (and I
hope that one day it will be the default on every program, including
MS Word).

o3read displays the older format of OpenOffice (.sxw). (see #359820)
And what I could see, o3read isn't very straightforward to get the
text from a document (manpage says that you need to unzip the
document, then pipe it through o3read, for example).

With odt2txt you just need to run "odt2txt file.odt" and you will get
the text output from it.
I am not a mutt guru, but I think that it might be easy to run odt2txt
on an attached .odt file. (sincerely I don't know how to do this; my
mutt acknowledge is very limited)

odt2txt will only convert word processing documents; spreadsheets
aren't handled, for example.

I hope that I could answer all your doubts :-)

Best regards,
Nelson
