Bug#325389: Status of bug #325389?

2006-09-23 Thread Daniel Gimpelevich
It looks like JCM requested to take over the ITP, then did nothing with
it. Now it says RFP. Will this package ever enter Debian?

I'll poke the upstream author and see if the licence can be more Debian

If so, I'll see if I can package it

If not, I'll throw it back into the RFP pool and suggest it be closed as

Bug#387778: code duplication

2006-09-23 Thread Steffen Joeris
Hi

I looked into this package and as far as I can see it a lot of the source code
is in the gpsim package and imho the libraries could be provided by the gpsim
package. When I prepare the next upload of gpsim I will keep that in mind (as
long as nobody shouts here) and try to provide them and after that this
package can be removed from the archive.

Dividing the packages would mean to take a lot of headers from the gpsim
package anyway and I don't see a reason for that, but please feel free to
convience me.

Cheers
Steffen

Bug#363689: obexpushd as drop-in replacement

Like with scmxx, I prefer to split up the roles of Debian maintainer and
upstream developer. It has the advantage of a second pair of eyes and another
opinion.

You can find obexpushd at http://www.hendrik-sattler.de/self/

I am not sure about doing correctly the daemon mode with multiple processes,
maybe you can take a look at it.
Actually, I wanted to do it with pthreads but every approach with a Debian
Etch installation ended up in Zombie processes.
I will probably switch to using select(), it looks like being possible with
libopenobex, and only spawn processes for receiving files. Just have to think
about it a bit more :)

 KeyJnote is a program that displays presentation slides. But unlike

 style. Smooth alpha-blended slide transitions are provided for the sake
 of eye candy, but in addition to this, KeyJnote offers some unique
 tools that are really useful for presentations. Some of them are:
  * Page transitions
  * Overview screen
  * Highlight boxes
  * Spotlight effect

  Description : administration tool and iptables modules for kernel IP sets

 IP sets are a framework inside the Linux 2.4.x and 2.6.x kernel which can be
 administered by the ipset(8) utility. Depending on the type, an IP set may
 store IP addresses, TCP/UDP port numbers, or IP addresses with MAC addresses in
 a way which ensures lightning speed when matching an entry against a set.
 .
 If you want to
 .
   * store multiple IP addresses or port numbers and match against the entire
   collection using a single iptables rule;
 .
  * dynamically update iptables rules against IP addresses or ports without
  performance penalty;
 .
  * express complex IP address and ports based rulesets with a single iptables
  rule and benefit from the speed of IP sets;
 .
 then IP sets may be the proper tool for you.
 .
 Note: the ipset(8) utility is the userspace counterpart to kernel functionality
 which requires patches from the patch-o-matic-ng project applied to the kernel.

This replaces the formerly proposed package "aa".

  Package name: astronomical-almanac
  Version : 5.6
  Upstream Author : Steve Moshier <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
  URL : http://www.moshier.net/
  License : GPL
  Programming Lang: C
  Description : astronomical almanac - calculate planet and star positions
 The aa program computes the orbital positions of planetary bodies and
 performs rigorous coordinate reductions to apparent geocentric and
 topocentric place (local altitude and azimuth). It also reduces star
 catalogue positions given in either the FK4 or FK5 system. Data for
 the 57 navigational stars is included. Most of the algorithms
 employed are from The Astronomical Almanac (AA) published by the
 U.S. Government Printing Office.
 .
 The aa program follows the rigorous algorithms for reduction of
 celestial coordinates exactly as laid out in current editions of
 the Astronomical Almanac. The reduction to apparent geocentric
 place has been checked by a special version of the program (aa200)
 that takes planetary positions directly from the Jet Propulsion
 Laboratory DE200 numerical integration of the solar system. The
 results agree exactly with the Astronomical Almanac tables from
 1987 onward (earlier Almanacs used slightly different reduction
 methods).
 .
 Certain computations, such as the correction for nutation,
 are not given explicitly in the AA but are referenced there. In
 these cases the program performs the full computations that are
 used to construct the Almanac tables (references are provided).

I intend to orphan the euler package.

The code it's really old and not maintained.

The code contains a lot of errors (functions that return different types
instead the expecetd ones, illegal casts, illegal memories
allocations,..): probably this code could be acceptable 10 years ago..
but now I think it needs a rewriting that I have no time to do alone.

For the moment I will orphan the package, but I think it probably could
be safely removed from the archive.

Regards

Marco

The package description is:
 euler is an interactive program which does computations involving
 real and complex numbers, matrices, and intervals. It draws the functions

Description: TYPO3 site installer
 This package contains a small PHP script that ease the setup of an
 initial TYPO3 site.
 .
 TYPO3 is a Web content management system which features automatic creation of
 navigational menus, headlines, and other dynamic graphical elements, automatic
 conversion and scaling of images, the ability to present different templates
 based on variables such as client browser or country code, support for
 multiple templates on a site, and a built-in password-protection option. Pages
 can be timed to be shown on a certain date, be hidden on a certain date or
 just temporarily hidden. TYPO3 supports search in SQL-databases and
 redesigning of a website at once is just a matter of creating a single new
 template.

Description: Empty TYPO3 site package for starting a new site from scratch
 This package provides an empty database to start a new and clean
 content management system. It contains TYPO3's core files and a
 database file with a clean pagetree. Beginners should start with the
 database and pagetree provided by typo3-quickstart or
 typo3-testsite. All the TYPO3 packages can be installed and used side
 by side.
 .
 TYPO3 is a Web content management system which features automatic
 creation of navigational menus, headlines, and other dynamic
 graphical elements, automatic conversion and scaling of images, the
 ability to present different templates based on variables such as
 client browser or country code, support for multiple templates on a
 site, and a built-in password-protection option.
 .
 Pages can be timed to be shown on a certain date, be hidden on a
 certain date or just temporarily hidden. TYPO3 supports search in
 SQL-databases and redesigning of a website at once is just a matter
 of creating a single new template.
