ABOUT DSPAM

DSPAM is an open-source, freely available anti-spam solution designed to
combat unsolicited commercial email using advanced deobfuscation
techniques combined with an advanced implementation of Baye's theorem of
combined probabilities using not only tokens, but token chains. The
result is an administratively maintenance free system capable of
learning each user's email behaviors with very few false positives.
DSPAM has become fairly popular recently and is gaining a large support
forum. Contributions to the project are welcome via the dspam-dev
mailing list.

  Description : highly scalable, large scale, multi-statistic spam analyzer
and filter

System-wide administratively-maintenance free filtering. The DSPAM
agent masquerades as the email server's delivery agent (or proxy agent
if necessary) providing filtering at the server level.

A simple-to-use learning mechanism. DSPAM allows users to simply
forward their spam to their "spam email address" for learning,
eliminating any learning curve necessary to make it usable by your
customers. The information used in every calculation is temporarily
stored on the server, enabling DSPAM to relearn the original message
by looking for a small signature in the forwarded spam. As a result,
users don't have to be trained to 'bounce' messages around, and
administrators don't have to worry about incompatible mail clients.

Support for a variety of storage implementations. DSPAM's storage
driver API allows the administrator to choose how they wish to store
data. Currently supported drivers include SQLite, Berkeley DB3,
Berkeley DB4, MySQL, PostgrSQL and Oracle.

Multi-Algorithm Support. DSPAM presently supports the following
combination algorithms: Graham-Bayesian, Burton-Bayesian, Robinson's
Geometric Mean, and Fisher-Robinson's Chi-Square. The administrator
may choose one or more of these algorithms to use when calculating
against spam and even combine two or more for extended filtering
reach.

A strong focus on large-scale implementation support. The largest
implementation of DSPAM heard involves 125,000 users, with the next
largest being around 100,000, then 70,000. DSPAM has been designed to
run with a very short execution time (between 0.01s - 0.03s real time
for classification and between 0.03s - 0.10s real time for training,
on average hardware), and has been equipped with a storage driver API
allowing several different storage mechanisms to be used. Depending on
disk space constraints, accuracy can be traded off for additional disk
space or vice-versa

  Description : advanced Bayesian anti-spam local delivery agent

DSPAM (as in De-Spam) is an open-source project to create a new kind of
anti-spam mechanism, and is currently effective as both a server-side
agent for UNIX email servers and a developer's library for mail clients,
other anti-spam tools, and similar projects requiring drop-in spam
filtering.

The DSPAM agent masquerades as the email server's local delivery agent
and filters/learns spams using an advanced Bayesian statistical approach
(based on Baye's theorem of combined probabilities) which provides an
administratively maintenance-free, easy-learning Anti-Spam service
custom tailored to each individual user's behavior. Advanced because on
top of standard Bayesian filtering is also incorporated the use of
Chained Tokens, de-obfuscation, and other enhancements. DSPAM works
great with Sendmail and Exim, and should work well with any other MTA
that supports an external local delivery agent (postfix, qmail, etc.)

I think we should remove oonsoo.

  * Orphaned for 1 year and 154 days.
  * 1 soon-to-be-RC bug (build failure with g++ 4.1).
  * Many alternatives: ace-of-penguins, gnome-games, junior-games-card,
kpat, pysol, sgt-puzzles, spider, vgacardgames, xsol (though I
haven't checked how closely they match oonsoo rules).
  * The upstream site listed in the copyright no longer works:

There seems to be a newer site at:

However, the sources haven't been updated in 6 years.
  * popcon: 43 installations, 10 votes.

I think we should remove rawrec and soundgrab.

  * Both have been orphaned for 1 year and 69 days.
  * rawrec has 1 RC bug. I'm unable to confirm it because it won't even
start for me ("the sampling rate (-s) could not be set ...").
  * soundgrab uses rawrec under the hood, and isn't usable without it.
  * bplay seems to be a reasonable command-line alternative for rawrec.
AFAICT, no command-line alternatives for soundgrab, but plenty of
audio editors do the same thing.
  * The previous Debian maintainer, Britton Leo Kerin, is also upstream
for both:

  * popcon:

- soundgrab: 37 installations, 10 votes.

Bug#356724: ITP: awffull -- web server log analysis program based on Webalizer

2006-03-13 Thread Jose Carlos Medeiros
Package: wnpp

Yurievich Pusep, Bradford L. Barrett <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://www.stedee.id.au/awffull
* License : GPL
* Description :
Webalizer is a great weblog analysis program but hasn't been going anywhere in
recent years. AWFFull takes that base and starts to fix the niggles and
annoyances and hopefully become a useful enhancement.
As a base, weblizer has a stated goal of producing web server analysis.
AWFFull on the other hand, will gradually focus more on the business
intelligence contained within those logs - and not specifically limited just to
web server logs. I have an interest in whole of site statistics, and that is
rarely contained solely in webserver log files.

Bug#356721: ITP: rtpproxy -- RTP proxy for SER

2006-03-13 Thread Jan Janak
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Jan Janak <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

* Package name: rtpproxy
  Version : 0.3
  Upstream Author : Maxim Sobolev <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://developer.berlios.de/projects/ser
* License : BSD
  Description : RTP proxy for SER

RTP (Realtime Transport Protocol) proxy is an application that can be used
to relay RTP media streams through a server in the public internet. That
is often necessary when dealing with SIP (Session Initiation Protocol)
user agents that are behind NAT (Network Address Translator).
..
The rtpproxy can be used in conjunction with nathelper module of SER
(SIP Express Router). When nathelper module of SER detects that a user
agent will need to relay media through a host in the public internet,
it will contact rtpproxy and ask it to allocate a public IP and port
the user agent can send it's RTP streams to. That information will
then be communicated to the user agent in SDP (Session Description
Document).

 A PAM module that provides auto blacklisting of hosts and users
 responsible for repeated failed authentication attempts. Generally
 configured so that blacklisted users still see normal login prompts but

This was posted in the thread[1] about ssh brute force mitigation and seems
really useful to have.

IMVHO this package is in a pretty good shape, and I don't see any
particular tasks that really need to be done. However, for some reason
I'm not that fond of it and / or don't use it regularily anymore, so
as part of some restructuring on my side I'm willing to let this
package go and find a loving new maintainer for it.
NB: This package is quite easy to maintain and thus might be just the
right choice for any aspiring new maintainer trying to get his hands
wet.

If you have a sponsor (or don't need one) please just take over.
Otherwise I might be interested in sponsoring a new maintainer,
provided the changes a) show _no_ regressions and b) provide
substantial improvements (no, just putting your name on it and
changing to your packaging style of choice is _not_ substantial in my
eyes). Either way please follow the standard procedure as outlined on
 for taking over.
Until a new maintainer has been found I will continue to take care
just as before, of course...

Description: generic configuration module
 This module opens a configuration file and parses its contents for
 you. After parsing it returns a hash which contains all options and
 their associated values from your configuration file.
 .
 The format of configuration files supported by Config::General is
 inspired by the well known Apache configuration format, in fact, this
 module is fully capable of parsing Apache configurations, but the
 output is not usable by Apache. You can also just use simple name/value
 pairs in your configuration files.
 .
 In addition to the capabilities of an apache configuration file it
 supports some enhancements such as here-documents, C-style comments and
 multi-line options.
